@dosdude1 Thank you for the new patcher. I do have a question, In the last version I was having a problem where the fan on my MacBook Pro 7,1 would start to run at high speed and the computer would not wake from sleep. Is there something wrong that I could have done?

Precisely. It is fortunate that you have an ATI card as it can play nicely with your 480. In my case the gt120 and the 580 do not pay well together, hence the hassle.
Thanks!
Just use "install to this machine" option in the patcher. You do not need to create USB patcher using this method. Dosdude1 included this option to help those machines without a boot screen. Just completed it on my cMP5.1 with RX580 with no problems. Also, this method is much quicker than the USB method.

I have successfully installed 10.15.2 on MBP 8,2 (15" 2011) using dosdude's 1.3.0 patcher although will need to reinstall Airdrop via @jackluke instruction. Thanks again for all the work and update capabilities @dosdude1 and all the "usual suspects" provide to enable us to successfully and efficiently use our vintage Macs.

I have messaged Dosdude but if someone can also give their perspective regarding the necessity of disabling of the infamous dGPU (mine is dead) via the process as outlined in post thread #875 or just installing Catalina with latest Dosdude patcher that on it own (for now) seems to skirt the need to disable dGPU thru the instructions of thread #875? I know dosdude created a disabler executable but I had tried a while ago to implement but system crashed to reboot to blank screen and therefore reverted back to thread #875 process.

Except I have two identical drives in my MacPro so the

For both Mojave and Catalina, you can't mix metal and non-metal cards without breakage of the metal card when the non-metal patches are installed.

I installed Catalina (dosdude1 method) on MP4,1>5,1 (bootrom 144.0.0) with gt120 and rx580.. I do this mistake.. How can I resolve it?

I just noticed that after installing 10.15.2 on MBP Mid 2009 the nightshift option is not available anymore.
You need to re-install the Night Shift Patch using Patch Updater.

Won't install that way for me with this version. Reboots with no install. USB stick got an error. So trying to build the USB stick again.

Hi Dosdude1. Thanks for quick update to version 1.3.0. However, after downloading Catalina version 10.15.2 find that I cannot create the USB Installer. I am getting the following error....Please advise how to fix as I am using a 32GB USB drive.View attachment 882032View attachment 882033

Having same issue. MBP 9,1 and cMP3,1 neither can make a bootable usb no matter what size drive I use. Also, cMP3,1 gives same error if I try in place install.

Hey Guys, I need your help.
I tried to make a bootable Stick with Catalina for ma iMac late 2009. On High Sierra it worked perfect but now I got this Error:

"/dev/disk5 GUID_partition_scheme
/dev/disk5s1 Apple_HFS /private/tmp/basesystem
Patching BaseSystem.dmg...
hdiutil: couldn't unmount "disk5" - Ressource ist belegt"

i also have tried different usb sticks and different Macs but same problem. should I format the usb stick with GUID or Master Boot?

thanks guys

That method is hell. Why don´t you permanently disable it?

Same issue here.

Have you got SIP disabled? Also, the NVRAM no_compat_check is worth applying before you start the install.

SIP disabled when checking status with csrutil status.

Tried applying "sudo nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check"" from the machine booted into my admin user to no avail.

Still restarts to the login screen and nothing updated after checking About This Mac.

OK, that worked! I did download OS 10.15.2 via your software, but (of course) did not proceed with an installation at that point. Have saved that full installer file to another location on my late 2012 Mac Mini, and also made a copy of it on a flash drive, which I will soon copy to my Mac Book Air. I am anticipating a clean, smooth installation of OS 10.15.2 and then a migration of needed items from a SuperDuper! backup which I (of course) will do before the installation.

Thanks again for your assistance with this. Still so frustrating, though, that Apple is not allowing me to download that full installer on either of my Macs, which are both running OS 10.14.6.

Successfully updated my Mac Pro 5,1 with Radeon RX 5700 from Mac OS 10.15.1 to 10.15.2 by doing the following:

Downloaded version 1.3.0 of macOS Catalina Patcher.
Used macOS Catalina Patcher to download a copy of Mac OS 10.15.2.
Used the 'install on this machine' option.
Installation took about an hour.
On reboot Patch Updater automatically updated the Night Shift patch.
Everything works well.
