What machine? If dual-nVidia system, use only the high performance graphics (set from Energy Saver prefpane), and this issue won't occur.
Yes. On my MBP5,2 e.g.after a nvram reset I quickly go to the 9600M GT GPU again. On that machine, after energy saver setting and logout/login, a reboot is needed for the GPU switching to take effect.
With the 9400M it doesn't take long before first sleep/wake and also shutdown issues occur (already in Mojave).

Hi everybody. I'm following the conversations here lately and I wonder if installing 10.15.4 on my Macbook Pro Mid 2009 (5,5) is possible and if everything works fine (mainly nightshift, Music app, Photos app). I'm currently on 10.15.3.

Should I do the installation now or better wait another week? I'm in no rush but always happy to have it done :) .

Bonjour,

Now, everything seems to be back to normal with the re-installation of 10.15.4 with @dosdude1 patcher 1.3.5 over 10.15.4 installed with 1.3.1 patcher (install to this machine for both of them)...

As a precaution, I disabled VyprVPN which probably prevents the standby from happening properly.

I keep you informed of developments...

Serviteur,

Dear all,

I have been following @dosdude1 since ever and always was successful with patching my systems until now. On my MacbookPro 5.5, I installed the new 1.3.5 patch and downloaded the new Catalina app. Once finished I was able to create a brand new USB flash boot drive. The 2 following options to upgrade to 10.15.4 did not work:
- installing after downloading and patching the new Catalina version results in a classic reboot without any update
- booting from the flash drive results in the "damaged Catalina version" and hence no ability to update either (tried the csrutil terminal command but tells me the system is unknown).

I hope you could assist as I ran out of options to try!

Thanks to all

@dosdude1 and @ASentientBot thank you, guys. Everything working. But I wanna ask you this is this solution safe?

My machine is a little out of control. Especially 1Password application. It started to open spontaneously. Suddenly I started receiving 50 emails from Parallels in 10 seconds. And I'm not using Parallels. Although iCloud is on, iCloud Sync shows it's not on. It looks like my machine is really crazy.

For anyone who is now rocking Catalina 10.15.4 ( 19E266) GM after @dosdude1 update to patcher 1.3.5 and wants to use or have Night Shift on the displays / monitors panel follow the directions below.

To enable tinkering under the hood of the system put the CatalinaAutoMountWriteable file into Library/LaunchDaemons and then reboot.

The Monitor Panel folders are from 10.15.3 and if you put them into the equivalent folders in 10.15.4 the display/monitors will work as they should with Night shift showing.

When doing so open the unzipped MonitorPanels folder ( attached below) and copy its contents. Then find System/Library/MonitorPanels on 10.15.4 open it , delete its contents , before pasting the 10.15.3 folder contents into the empty folder

The same procedure for the MonitorPanel.framework. Unzip. Copy contents of the folder for 10.15.3 and paste into the empty folder for 10.15.4 located at System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MonitorPanel.framework

...and Voila you will have Night Shift working on your 10.15.4 and shown on the Display panel tab

Didn't Patch Updater launch automatically on the first reboot after the installation of patched 10.15.4 on your machine? It should have offered a Night Shift patch that supports 10.15.4.

The night shift patch does appear but sometimes it will not be shown on the display panel and the manual procedure is required to get it on there. My experience in any case although I updated to 10.15.4 with an OTA update and not the updated 1.3.5. Catalina patcher.

can you tell me more? how can you boot from usb again? via statup manager? or do you mean a normal reboot?APFS patch you dont need it... Metal SSE 4.2 is for AMD non metal GPU... do you .4 install on machine or usb stick? ( boot to usb and install catalina?)

I just booted off the USB-stick (holding Alt/Option) I created with Catalina patcher again, and selected 'Install post-install patches' or something like that... Maybe it works without my added patches, like you say.

Hi All,
Probably this question has already been asked but I couldn't find the replies after a quick search.

So I just wanted clarification regarding iMac 11,3 (27" Mid 2010) running on ATI Radeon 5750 whether I can install Catalina on without any issues or that will cause problems to me?

On dosdude1 website it only mentions AMD Radeon HD5xxx as problematic in the "System Compatibility"
however under the "Known Issue" subject it does state AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5xxx hence my question.

Many thanks in advance

Because to unlock NightShift feature on unsupported Mac you need also to apply the NightShift patch that is essentially a patched /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreBrightness.framework

After you applied the night shift patch, the @indiawallah method worked correctly to enable Night shift tab on Displays.prefpane .

Issues with Photos.app

Everyone else experiencing Issues in the Photos.app, running on Catalina 10.15.4, where the Photos section is not showing up?

EDIT: Sorry, just stumbled upon https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macos-catalina-photos-app-unsupported-mac.2218494/ which should resolve my issues,,, I'll give it a try, and let you guys know.

And of course, thanks to ASentinentBot and DosDude, and all the others for providing us such good stuff! :)

I'm not seeing that problem at all on a MacPro 3,1 with GTX680. Using the Patch Updater offering of the 10.15.4 compatible version of the Night Shift patch and clicking on the restart button added the Night Shift tab to the Monitors system preference panel. Are you sure that you just aren't seeing a glitch in the kernel cache rebuild step as opposed to the Night Shift patch not actually applying?
