OK, so far, things are fine on my MacBook Air, after installing the OS 10.15.4 Combo Updater. Apps are working fine, properly informed about the need for Full Disk Access for some of my apps, built the eDrive inside Tech Tool Pro, etc.

Thinking of taking the plunge and applying the Combo Updater on my late 2018 Mac Mini.

Hi all,

today I updated my macPro 5,1 2012 to Catalina 10.15.4 using the 1.3.5 patcher,
a new install over the previous configuration (making an usb, booting, installing os,
reboot, apply patch, reboot then log in).
Before (with 10.15.3) all was perfect. Now I have some issues: if I try to open "System
Preferences" and click on "Patch Updater" I have a crash, with an automatic problem
report opened that say that "System Preferences quit unexpectedly".

Can you suggest how I can fix this ?

Best regards,

L.
Wow Persian still being used in 10.15...

I'm not sure; I had manually added that (natively non-existing) plist to the /Library/Preferences folder (and verified permissions) when I was initially trying to fix things after the update.
That is an essential fix to prevent AFMI from blocking the loading of the unsigned kernel extensions provided by the patches.

Hi, I've a iMac 27" Late 2009 and I installed 15.3 three weeks ago. two days ago I update to 15.4 (with 1.3.4) and I install post patches Night Swift, and I have the same problem with others people here, in Preference doesn't appear, and Display is empty.
Moreover in Photo App don't appear Photos inside de Library, firstly is Memories.
Appearance don't change if you set in Automatic.

Do you recommended apply the patches 1.3.5, right?

Everything else is great.

Finally, I have gotten all 10.15.4 issues FIXED in Catalina Patcher, mainly thanks to @ASentientBot's patched boot.efi file keeping SIP disabled! Catalina Patcher version 1.3.5 has now been released with full 10.15.4 support.
Success with patcher 1.3.5 on MBP5,2 17" mid 2009.

Although I already had 10.15.4 installed with 1.3.1 and running:
- made bootable USB installer with 10.15.4/1.3.5
- reset nvram (for clean test conditions)
- clean install on erased external disk. Install and boot went fully automatic
- installed over a clone of 10.15.3 on external SSD. No libraryvalidation.plist present, no amfi settings in nvram or elsewhere. Also here install and boot went fully automatic.

Verified that /Library/Preferences/com.apple.security.libraryvalidation.plist is installed on both disks.
All set to make 10.15.4 my standard system on the internal SSD.

Thank you very much! Time for a DONATION

I have just re-implemented "catalinaswufix5amfi.command" with a GUI to allow, download and install the Catalina Beta Software Update (and public too) on any Catalina unsupported Mac, I have tested it and seems to work enough good.

I used the @Czo SUVMMFaker.dylib , @Pinarek method of OTA .dist editing for machines whitelisting, and @ASentientBot disablelibraryvalidation with AMFI disabling methods .

In case someone resets the PRAM you still should use "csrutil disable" (from an USB Catalina Installer or Recovery environment terminal) before apply the post-install patches.

I release it now, before the 10.15.5 beta 1 , the app should allow also "OTA Combo updates", for example from 10.15.0 to 10.15.4 . While usually the Delta Updates are from 10.15.3 to 10.15.4 .

After you apply the OTA update fix, these are the four apple Catalina OTA update automatic phases:

1) apple logo short loading bar followed by auto reboot OTA packages preparing the "APFS macOS Installer" temporary volume (it may take up to 10 minutes, but on average about 5 minutes)

2) apple logo long loading bar followed by Catalina logo installing (OTA pre-scripts verifying on your APFS volume) (it may take up to 15 minutes, but on average about 10 minutes)

3) Catalina circle logo with installing progress bar (OTA stage2 installation on your APFS volume) (it may take up to 60 minutes, but on average about 45 minutes)

4) apple logo full loading bar OTA post-scripts followed by direct boot to Catalina or a bootloop (because post-install patches are required) (it may take up to 15 minutes, but on average about 10 minutes)

OTA stage 2 new screen.png
catalina circle logo ota installing.jpg

The CatalinaOTAswufix.app source code is viewable simply browsing the Show packages Contents.

My app is totally harmless and safe for any mac.

To run properly the app don't rename it and move it to Catalina Desktop , or Applications or Downloads paths.

edit (some tips):
To receive only non-beta updates after the "Software Update fix", simply from Software Update prefpane click "Details" and "Restore Defaults" (OTA update fix will still continue work correctly):
opt out from beta updates.png

Moreover I'd advise to set the "Advanced" menu this way, in order to have more control on how updates are downloaded and installed (to give extended time to make a backup or to build a new USB Catalina Patcher for example):
software update advanced settings.png

Example downloading a non-beta update (from a beta updated machine):

Success with patcher 1.3.5 on MBP5,2 17" mid 2009.
- made bootable USB installer with 10.15.4/1.3.5
- reset nvram
- clean install on erased external disk. Install and boot went fully automatic
- installed over a clone of 10.15.3 on external SSD. No libraryvalidation.plist present, no amfi settings in nvram or elsewhere. Also here install and boot went fully automatic.
All set to make 10.15.4 my standard system on the internal SSD.
Thank you very much!
Hmm, interesting. I have another "spare" external SSD that I quite possibly could do a clean, fresh installation of the version of OS 10.15.4 downloaded via the V1.3.5 patcher, then migrate files, folders, apps, settings, etc. from my internal SSD (which I know is clean and functional), and see how that goes. But I do not want to go through again what I went through yesterday with my MacBook Air, especially since all seems well with that machine that now has OS 10.15.4 via the OS 10.15.4 Combo Updater.

Many thanks to @alphascorp, @serafin79 and especially @yezza who helped find the constant "deleted" process activity. iStatMenus was the culprit, even after the in-app "uninstall" at least 20 "bjango" and iStat files remained. Both EasyFind and FindAnyFile concurred and the cruft deleted. But it required a Onyx/Maintenance run and a few reboots to settle this old Mini3,1 down.

The 10.15.4 Finder DS version 1.14.4 seems a little more snappy than previous versions of Catalina.

Made a fresh USB patcher w/ v.1.3.5 and only reinstalled the req. patches, now the '09 Mini is smooth as silk.

In case someone haven't used yet the latest @dosdude1 patcher that include the @ASentientBot SIP patched boot.efi , if you reset the PRAM you still need to use "csrutil disable" (from an USB Catalina Installer or Recovery environment terminal) before apply the post-install patches.

Thank you jackluke. That is a convenient GUI.
I'll try it for real on the next occasion.

Refresh your browser cache. It's on the usual page.
yes but there is still a problem on the homepage of dosdude1, why are the new versions 1.3.4 etc.
and 1.3.5 not shown at the bottom, version 1.3.0 is over. Only with a detour above
at "Current version info" can you get to 1.3.5 via "alternative download".
I use Google Chrome latest (last version) build version 80.0.3987.149 (official build) (64-bit).

Thank you for the new software update patch fix jackluke sad thing is it triggered AMFI in my iMac back to losing everything and starting over

I guess you are using a previous USB Catalina patcher version for post-install patches (the one without patched boot.efi), in this case after the OTA update, boot to the USB Catalina recovery terminal and type:
csrutil disable ; reboot

I made a new Catalina Patcher with the new version 1.3.5 first thing I tried after not getting into the desktop was reapply the post install patches no luck reinstalling 10.15.4 over and trying trying a clean install first

That's odd, but I guess it's only a SIP issue, retry to boot from a recovery environment typing only this: csrutil disable ; reboot

I assume you OTA updated from 10.15.3 to 10.15.4 , anyway these are the OTA update automatic apple routines (they are so also on a supported mac) after you downloaded and clicked Update Now and Restart:

1) OTA preparing with apple logo filling 1/3 of short loading bar and auto reboot (this takes up to 10 minutes, but on average 5 minutes)
2) OTA pre-script with apple logo filling 2/3 middle loading bar (this takes up to 15 minutes, but on average 10 minutes)
3) OTA installing with Catalina circle logo and progress install bar (this takes up to 60 minutes, but on average 45 minutes)
4) OTA post-script with apple logo and full loading bar with direct boot to desktop if you applied the post-install patches (this takes up to 15 minutes, but on average 10 minutes)

In the best case on an SSD SATA drive to complete an OTA update takes about 60 minutes (excluding the download time).
So sometimes is just a matter of waiting a bit more the osx loading bar.

My app is totally harmless and safe for any mac.
I installed 10.15.4 Final before Catalina Patcher 1.3.5 was released I used the OTA method I had a copy of the com.apple.security.validation.plist which I put in my LaunchDaemons folder then downloaded the update applied your catalinaswuamfi4fix in the terminal after the install was complete entered csrutil disable in terminal inside the patcher then applied the post install patches except the last one which in the libraryvalidation patch rebooted and it worked :)

I don't have an ssd just an old 160gb hdd in my iMac :)

Tried fresh installing 10.15.4 with 1.3.5 on my iMac 2011, with swapped K1100M GPU, but after the first reboot when installing, I get a blank/black screen...

I have a similar setup. First question: is that K1100M flashed with Nick[D]vB rom? That is what gives you efi boot screens.
The best way (for me at least) to do this 10.15.4 update was to run the first phase of the install until you get to the black screen at first reboot. Then shutdown and remove dosdude1's Patcher USB and replace it with the CoreLoader USB from Nick[D]vB (which you will need to give backlight adjustment). Next, reboot with the Option key pressed to get to the gray efi CoreLoader screen. Select the yellow USB stick labelled Catalina Loader and click the arrow. The screen will flash and then you will see the install HDD/SSD and Recovery disks. Select the install HDD/SSD and click the arrow. Allow the installation to complete with the normal Apple progress screen. Before the final boot, remove the CoreLoader USB, and boot with Command + Option + P + R to reset the nVRAM. Shutdown and insert the Patcher USB again and press the Option key while booting to get to the Post-Install screen. DO NOT run the Legacy video patcher because although you will get screens at the next boot you will find that they are corrupted. The K1100M DOES NOT require the Legacy video patch. Also I do not install the SSE patch, which I think causes kernel panics and is unnecessary. (This means that you should build the dosdude1 Patcher with automatic post-install set to off.)
After the final post-install, shutdown and remove the Patcher USB and replace with the CoreLoader USB—in fact I don't use USB sticks, I use low profile SD cards in the back slot.
Using CoreLoader is necessary if you want native screen backlight adjustment from the keyboard.

A actually had that patch available to the MacBookPro4,1 before, but it caused a huge amount of issues on most people's machines.
Well, It works fine. I've tested it!

It works with the Brightness Fix Patch that's downloaded from @dosdude1 patch updater for the Early 2009 MacBook on the 4,1 MBP. It doesn't work with the one called Ambient Light Sensor Patch that's built into the installer. I think they're different because one works and one doesn't work.
