When you say "but nothing happens", and hit enter, do you actually get any prompt ending Gene$ or really nothing at all (lock up)?

If the first, then you need to copy over the file again from Downloads or enter:

/Users/Gene/Desktop/zoomnonmetal.sh

and press enter/return again.

You should then get the following response:

/Applications/zoom.us.app/Contents/Frameworks/ZCommonUI.framework/Versions/A/ZCommonUI: replacing existing signature

Patched "/Applications/zoom.us.app".

Yes!! Successfully patched the latest Zoom version to work under Mojave or Catalina with a non-Metal GPU!

View attachment 912407

EDIT: To apply this patch to your own Zoom install, download the attached script (zoomnonmetal.sh.zip), extract it, and run it as follows using Terminal:
Code:
chmod +x /path/to/zoomnonmetal.sh
/path/to/zoomnonmetal.sh

Super grateful for this, saved me from having to zoom on my phone after updating my 2011 MBP. Might be too much to ask but I use my iPad as a second display with "Duet display" however at the minute its putting out a yellow display. Their tech team has said its not compatible with unsupported Macs on catalina. If you get a chance and fancy patching that too it would be a life saver!

Thanks very much and keep up the good work

Hi all,

I have a problem on my Mac Pro 3.1 with macOS Catalina 10.15.4.
When the Mac go to sleep during the night, the morning after it show me every time this error.
How can I solve it? I have already tried to make a clean Catalina install.

Thanks

Guys, I am trying to install Catalina over top mine again but it doesn't install. It starts and first 9min pass and restarts (I think this is the Recovery Partition part) but it doesn't continue the installation part machine directly boot after this 9 min part finished.

Why can I install Catalina again? Do I need to open the Recovery partition and install it from there?

Edit: I tried from Recovery but dosdude1 recovery does not have an internet connection. I didn't realize this before.
Edit2: When use 15.4.02 installer it fixed the problem.

Patched "/Applications/zoom.us.app".

OK. It worked Now and Zoom v5.01 is working with video.
BUT it only worked because I did NOT use the attachment on page 428, as provided by Dosdude1

Instead,
I ran the script that Dosdue1 provided at the very bottom of his FAQ section in here: http://dosdude1.com/catalina/

All Set. Thank you

When I installed dosdude1 script for Zoom it brought the camera back. However it broke screen sharing via USB. If I install the Zoom plugin for the iOS screen sharing it fixes that, but it turns the camera black again and so.

Apart from that, screensharing with Airplay is broken too. Maybe the script from @dosdude1 could be adapted for the Zoom plugin for screen sharing too? Perhaps it's the same thing.

I'll probably have to patch that separately.

Just updated to the latest beta ( 15.5.5 beta 4) using the old style catalinaswufix5a.mfi command in terminal after an OTA update appeared in System Preferences. Updated very smoothly and then used all the post update patches for my MacBook Pro 5,4 on the latest version of Dosdude's Catalina Patcher.

AirPlay Video since Catalina can't work on non-metal GPU, unless without installing any legacy video patch, and for non-metal GPU it means without graphic acceleration.

If you have an OpenCoreAPFSloader2 usb when the Mac restarts the first time boot in the OpenCoreAPFSLoader2 usb then select macOS install to proceed :)

This works for in-place and installer USB as well? (And just to be clear, this is for non-APFS-upgradable firmware machines like the MacBookPro 5,1?)

It works mainly for non-APFS-upgradable machines , because allows to detect the hidden apple APFS "macOS Installer" temporary volume, while on APFS firmware machines this "APFS hidden volume" is automatically detected or shown after holding alt-option at apple startup manager.

After the macOS Installer (Catalina logo with progress bar installing) is completed, you have to re-apply the post-install patches targeting your Catalina APFS Volume and selecting "force cache rebuild".

As I plan to use this:

with my mac pro, both touted as macos compatible, are there any hints as to their compatibility with catalina?

Thanks for your time!

My kids were trying to get help from a friend, and they reset the NV ram, and now my iMac will not boot. Is there a way to reflash the boot room with out having to wipe the drive and re-install High Sierra?

This patch is working great :) I did noticed one small issue after the patch, Zoom no long recognises cpu type for virtual background sadly:( on the non patched version (4.5.9) this error doesn't occur

I finally found the reason for 1Password iCloud Sync not working. It is "LibraryValidationDisablerPatch".

Last night I installed it on Catalina again, but this time I did not install this patch. And 1Password iCloud Sync started working. It is also microphone working. I guess only AppleMusic is not working, but I do not care AppleMusic cause I am not using AppleMusic on my Unsupported iMac anyway because 1Password is more important to me.

On 10.15.3 there are no AMFI issues, neither any codesigning app, safari extension or tccutil issues.

Instead from 10.15.4 there are, so what's the output from your Catalina terminal ?
Code:
defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.security.libraryvalidation.plist

nvram boot-args

I ask this because from 10.15.4 an amfi disabling method is mandatory when using non-metal video patches.

Tried to install OTA the .5b4, but wasn‘t successful this time.
Update recognized and loaded as usual with system settings->software update. Install began as usual with short, white on black progress bar with apple logo, but then at automatic reboot there is no „macos installer“ volume visible, neither with opt/alt boot selector nor with OpenCore boot loader.
Mine is an MBP5,2, APFS ROM patch applied, installung to USB SSD.
Seems Apple have changed something. I‘ll try agaiin this evening.

I guess simply the "OTA swu fix" hasn't applied correctly, or a re-downloaded package has cleared the dist file patch or mismatched the "macOS Install Data" folder, so before retry, remove these folders:

/Volumes/Catalina Data/macOS Install Data
/Volumes/Catalina Data/Library/Updates/anysubfolder
(you have to mount "Catalina Data" volume from DiskUtility)

generic "Catalina" is intended your disk label

next time during OTA downloading, try instead this script: catalinaswufix5amfi.command
(essentially the same script is contained also in the CatalinaOTAswufix.app)

If also this won't work in showing the hidden "macOS Installer", then you should try the opencore version that install internally to the disk: OpenCoreAPFSloaderupdate.app.zip

Hey @jackluke here is the results of Terminal;

Screen Shot 2020-05-08 at 16.05.43.png

Also when I check AppleMusic crash report its saying Library Item Missing (libgnsdk_dsp.3.06.1.dylib). Probably beacuse of this item AppleMusic doesnt work!

Any ideas/suggestions with this? It happens with Catalina and on Mojave too:

  • Everything works great but I noticed this odd behaviour: when I open a Pages file, it crashes whenever a "smart annotations" that i did on my iPad appears on screen. It just freezes Pages. It's the only thing that bothers me since I do quite a lot of this handwriting. If I hide the smart annotations I can see all the pages on the document normally and work. Naturally, this is not the best since I cannot edit them. Also, if even one small annotation is on the first page, the file does not even open.

And a little doubt: I have just 1.40GB free of a total 8GB RAM. While on High Sierra I would normally have between 2 and 4 GB. Is Mojave/Catalina more intense on memory or is there something I can do to balance this? Could it be this the normal way macOS deals with RAM now? Otherwise everything is normal, the system is working great and snappy.

From the output you are using the "LibraryValidationDisablerPatch", to try fixing the Music app crash, you should delete this "DisableLibraryValidation.kext" from these paths:

/Library/Extensions/
/System/Library/Extensions/
/EFI/OC/Kexts/

In my opencore customised versions it is not included, so that's not the issue.
[automerge]1588948985[/automerge]
@hvds I just updated using CatalinaOTAswufix.app and it worked as expected.

I am using the external USBOpenCoreAPFSloader2, as you can notice from "csrutil status" I am using also the stock 10.15.5 beta4 boot.efi , and of course ASentientBot disablelibraryvalidation.plist as amfi disabling method that allows to use the stock tccutil .
