Exactly. That explains why they are listed in these PrefPanels.
Works for me here on a MacPro 3,1 with BCM94360CD using patched 10.15.5. I can connect with Bluetooth sharing in both directions to and from a MacBook Pro 14,1 running 10.15.5 and send files. Don't know why anyone would use that when AirDrop is functional though. I would look at the possibility that the bluetooth plist files got confused during the switchover to the new BCM94360CD. As I said before, I once had a particular boot volume that showed that problem. In that case, I resorted to a complete clean install to clean things up rather than digging through plist files.

In my case, before using @dosdude1's patcher, I needed to uninstall Sophos AV; this stops the error occurring.Hello I'm trying to update from 10.15.4 to 10.15.5 using the new patch from dos dude. Unfortunately I keep on getting this message: "Error Mounting BaseSystem Image". What can I do? Thanks
I uninstalled the AV but unfortunately I still get the error... I'm stuckIn my case, before using @dosdude1's patcher, I needed to uninstall Sophos AV; this stops the error occurring.

I did it in my Macbook Pro 2011 with thisWith the help of @jackluke, I was able to add Airdrop to my aging 2010 15" MBP6,2 (10.15.5.2) with a USB 4.0 Bluetooth dongle and these instructions here: page-229
Unfortunately, Unlock with Apple Watch doesn't work. You need Bluetooth 4.0 AND WiFi 802.11ac. A question for all you technical wizards. Would I be able to add a WiFi 802.11ac USB dongle (Like This) to use with "Unlock with Apple Watch"?
I also have a mid 2009 machine, MBP5,2 17". APFS Rom patch by dosdude is applied. This worked perfectly. How come this isn't posted anywhere? I couldn't find this info anywhere. I am now on latest version on my 2009 MBP.
You may need to restart after uninstalling the AV, before using the patcher, although I didn't need to the last time I did it.I uninstalled the AV but unfortunately I still get the error... I'm stuck
Thanks for the link jhowarth. But first I will try to change the BT connector position from J3 to J1. I saw this morning a picture from an online install guide of the same card...but on a MacPro 2009, not a 2008 like ours....suggesting J1 may work for the BT cable. If no success I will resort to these link suggestions.
@Blackriton :
I have exactly the same "Wifi / BT" card as yours, also purchased from OSXWIFI. Unfortunately, after its installation (and by removing the old BT card), I could only connect the BT cable. It was impossible to connect the 3 wifi cables.
In addition, if the BT was working properly, my MP3,1 had some problems, in particular the impossibility of going to sleep or rather, on waking, signaled "that your computer restarted because of a problem, etc." .
I was therefore forced to remove this card and replace the old BT card.
I couldn't figure out why my MP3,1 was refusing to go to sleep and wake up properly with the new card.
But I am sure that experts will be able to answer ...
Serviteur,
I tried again today to no avail. I only managed to connect the BT cable to the J1 connector but no difference as BT doesn't work on this connector also. So I put back the BT cable to J3. Its the only cable easy to connect but impossible for the 3 wifi antennas, I agree with you on that. I think the female connector are not centered so its the reason it doesnt work. But contrary to your experience I am fortunate to report no sleep-wake problems yet..............
AirDrop Catalina pre-patched (only for Broadcom cards) to those interested you should post the output of these Catalina Terminal commands:
ioreg -l | grep "board-id" | awk '{print $4}'
ioreg -r -n ARPT | grep IOName
system_profiler -detailLevel mini | grep "Card Type"
system_profiler -detailLevel basic | grep "Model Identifier"
Meanwhile here are some Wifi kext that I've pre-patched (tested and working) to AirDrop on Catalina unsupported Mac, they are hyperlinks so just click the one for your machine to download:
AirDrop Catalina MacBook7,1 and MacBookPro6,2.zip
AirDrop Catalina patched MacBook6,1.zip
AirDrop Catalina patched MacBookAir2011 4,2.zip
MacBookPro8,3 AirDrop Catalina.zip
AirDrop fix Catalina MacBookAir4,1.zip
MacBookPro8,1 Airdrop Catalina.zip (This machine has two different board-id)
Macmini4,1 AirDrop Catalina.zip
Macmini5,1 AirDrop Catalina.zip
MacBookPro8,2 AirDrop Catalina.zip
After downloaded, open a Catalina terminal and copy/paste:
sudo mount -uw / ; killall Finder
Then from Catalina Finder replace (do not merge) them inside your Catalina /System/Library/Extensions/
after from a Catalina terminal send these commands copy/paste one at once:
sudo chown -R 0:0 /S*/L*/E*/
sudo chmod -R 755 /S*/L*/E*/
sudo kextcache -i /
(the "kextcache" takes some minutes to complete)
At next reboot you should have AirDrop in Catalina Finder.
After you have a working AirDrop, I suggest to apply this additional fix to enable an extra AirDrop feature that apple removed from Catalina: "AirDrop Search for older Mac"
After a working AirDrop on Catalina, if you have also a Bluetooth 4.0 card (or BT4.0 usb dongle), to add Continuity (Handoff, hotspot, etc.) you can directly apply this script: catalinacontinuityfix.command.zip
Or check this other example: enable continuity from terminal
I saw that. It's a little more than I'd like to spend but I may opt for that if I can't get the USB WiFi working.I did it in my Macbook Pro 2011 with this
802.11ac and BT 4.2 are here for unibody MBPs and A1342 MB!
I am pleased to announce that 5 years after my post found here (where I threw in the towel early): https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macbook-pro-802-11ac-upgrade.1521466/page-4#post-18438927 , native 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 are working on classic unibody MBPs!:D All of this...forums.macrumors.com
It´s a bit expensive, but works like a charm. Great wifi speed, and unlock, both the computer and apps, work nice.I saw that. It's a little more than I's like to spend but I may opt for that if I can't get the USB WiFi working.
