I thought Displayport is unsupported in general in Catalina.
Definitely for the Nvidia drivers bundled with Catalina.

Make sure you are NOT using the "amfi_get_out_of_my_way=1" boot argument in either NVRAM or boot.plist.
no_compat_check is you want to see in nvram 2 ways to remove the amfi 1 reset your PRAM Control-Option-P and R after your hear the chime or boot into the Catalina Patcher and apply the post install patches againThanks @dosdude1 @TimothyR734 and @jhowarth for your help.
Yes, there is "amfi_get_out_of_my_way=1" and "-no_compat_check" in boot argument. I executed nvram boot-args="" to remove because sudo nvram -d amfi_get_out_of_my_way it wasn't working for me.
One last question please, I'll leave it as is or I'll add "-no_compat_check"

If you are on a unsupported Mac you need the no_compat_check in your boor-args (nvram) as patches could failHi TimothyR734,
After doing nvram boot-args="" everything works fine. I just want to know if "-no_compat_check" is obligatory or not.
for your information at first, I reset PRAM and I had to remake "sudo nvram fa4ce28d-b62f-4c99-9cc3-6815686e30f9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00" to disable defective gpu (I could hardly see anything ?).......after the reboot, I don't have wi-fi anymore despite the fact that I have apply the post install patches again.
as I didn't know what to do I did fresh install ? however at the beginning there was no "amfi_get_out_of_my_way=1" but probably after installing something he reappeared .
but this time I just did nvram boot-args="" and everything's back to normal. in conclusion I don't want to do reset PRAM fears of starting over ?
Same thing here... easy as always with CatalinaOTAswufix.app and 1.4.4 post-install patches (and OpenCore loader to help my MBP5,2 with USB disk across OTA phase 2).Successfully installed macOS Catalina 10.15.6 Dev Beta 2 with the swupatch-catalinaswufixamfi5 patch

-no_compat_check
in a plist on the preboot volume, so it's not necessary to put it in NVRAM as well. It also disables SIP with a kext and/or boot.efi
patch, so a PRAM reset should be entirely safe (other than the GPU disabling, as you said).many people are having that issue even on supported Mac'sHello, recently I've made a fresh Catalina install but my safari extensions doesn't load and can't be activated, any idea why??
Nevermind, I'm an idiot, should've used latest Patcher version of course..Hey, I'm new here. First of all, thanks @dosdude1 for the wonderful patchers! Used them on a bunch of machines now.
I've created a bootable USB stick with Catalina with the patcher app, but it's hanging on a boot screen for over 20 minutes now. The progress bar has completed, nothing else is happening. Any ideas what could be wrong? MacPro 5,1 here.
I've managed to install it once on the same hardware, but SSD that was in there went to see St. Peter, so bought a new one and can't reinstall now Any hints would be much appreciated!

Hey, @TimothyR734 will it work on my iMac 9,1 ATI 4850?The iMac 13,1 is a supported Mac for Catalina but in my unsupported MacBook running Catalina I use this which is pretty close but it only works on 10.15.5 and the Supplemental update it will crash on 10.15.6 Dev Beta https://github.com/fabioiop/ImprovementUI
The patcher sets-no_compat_check
in a plist on the preboot volume, so it's not necessary to put it in NVRAM as well. It also disables SIP with a kext and/orboot.efi
patch, so a PRAM reset should be entirely safe (other than the GPU disabling, as you said).
Me too, even though I'm no longer classified as a Newbie! Thanks @ASentientBot and @TimothyR734 for your feedback, I am learning something new every day thanks to this community ?.
And me! Thanks!Me too, even though I'm no longer classified as a Newbie!
If you have graphics acceleration it should work but can't make any promises but if you use the UIImprovement patch make sure you have a Catalina Patcher you do not need to erase your drive just reinstall Catalina.Hey, @TimothyR734 will it work on my iMac 9,1 ATI 4850?
...it would have been nvram -d boot-args (man nvram shows the options nicely).Yes, there is "amfi_get_out_of_my_way=1" and "-no_compat_check" in boot argument. I executed nvram boot-args="" to remove because sudo nvram -d amfi_get_out_of_my_way it wasn't working for me.
Is your SSD formatted APFS which is required for CatalinaI’ve done this twice and ended up reverting to High Sierra on my Mid 2010 MBP because after awhile the computer will just lock up for some reason and needs a hard reboot. I’ve enabled trim on my SSD and this only happens after upgrading to Catalina. I’m not really sure why it does that.
