Which version of Catalina are you currently using? The Catalina Patcher downloads 10.15.5 Supplemental update. For Photo's you could create a smart album rename it Photo's that is a work around. iMovie and Zoom require metal but the older version of iMovie and patching Zoom works and I am sure more apps will need patched in 10.16
I'm on 10.15.4 at the moment, but I was hoping to go back to any version before 10.15.3 to re-enable my Safari Extensions. That's only the start of work-arounds – I'm grateful to have a 2010 MBP running Catalina, but I also don't want a new hobby in tinkering with my OS to make it optimal for me. That's why I don't have Linux……macOS just works when it boots up, and I can get down to work straight away. I'd be very surprised if a handful of programmers would keep patching later versions of macOS to keep our old machines running, because it's becoming insanely difficult to keep up with Apple's new bag of tricks released every month or so.
I found dosdude's Zoom patcher. I downloaded an old version of iMovie. And I found 3rd-party workarounds for most things, but if my wallet was thicker, I'd cave into Apple's trap for the sake of convenience.

Anyone know where I could find a full macOS Catalina Installer App 10.15.0/1/2? The 10.15.3 Safari Extensions bug is still present on my MBP 7,1 so I'd like to downgrade, tick the Safari ad-blocker boxes – and return to 10.15.5.

i did the same thing a couple months ago.

run softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 10.15.2 in the terminal to download the 10.15.2 installer and then use catalina patcher 1.3.0 to make your bootable usb.

Install Failed.png I thought that would've worked but unfortunately the installed failed with error: update not found. Fetching a full installer via the softwareupdate command is exclusive to Catalina, so I probably can't do this unless I had a Catalina-supported machine.
It's a pity – the process looks very convenient.

You are on 10.15.4 right?
Your machine doesn't need to be "supported" you just have to be on Catalina. I did it on a 2011 MBP.

The command to download 10.15.2 doesn't work for me either, but looks like downloading 10.15.1 still works so maybe try that.

I guess apple removes some updates from their servers after some time and we can't download them.

Which patcher do you use if you're updating from mojave to catalina?? Are there earlier patcher versions that download 10.15.1??? or possibly combo ones to update to 10.15.4??

Install Failed 2.png It was about to work, it said "Installing 83%" and so on, but then it always reverts to install failed.
Welp.

Hi guys, first of all congratulations on the great job you are doing, you are authentic cracks!

I'm a little desperate with my iMac 11.1

I have tested both Mojave and Catalina installations from scratch with your patch.

The installation completes perfectly.
If I enter safe mode (shift key) I can enter the system, in fact I finished the installation in safe mode.
If I let it do the normal login, I am left with a blank screen. As I say, I spend as much time installing Mojave as Catalina.

I have gone crazy looking for information through the forum, I have tried everything I have seen but I have no way to start correctly ... I have disabled SIP, partition in HFS ...

I attached blank screen and log before :)

I leave you specifications of the equipment and a video. Let's see if you can help me! Thank you!

I just noticed that I don't see the option to disable auto brightness under screen settings. Is there maybe a terminal command for this?

Hello everybody. I thought it is worth another try to ask if anyone has an idea how I can disable/enable auto brightness via terminal since the option is gone under display settings. Thanks!

Good morning! I am running 10.15.5 on my iMac 11.2. I have been updating directly to my machine for quite some time. Does anybody know why I can't get the Supplemental update 1 and 2? Any help is appreciated.
I'm not aware yet of a supplemental update 2 for 10.15.5.
Supplement 1 I downloaded with patcher 1.4.4, then used it to install "To this Machine" or via bootable USB installer as usual.
Not sure what you mean with updating directly - I use systems settings->software update for betas but since Catalina this requires extra manual steps, apart from post-install patching. Jackluke et al provide the tools, notably CatalinaOTAswufix.app, see eg post #9457 and later.

I'm wondering if the new versions of macOS be written for ARM Macs only, or will Intel Macs still be patchable?
There will be a transition phase for sure. Last time (PPC-Intel) that phase took three to four years regarding hardware support. From mid-release-cycle of tiger toll the end of leopard (yep, back when OSs were to stay longer than a year.).
while there was no Hardwaresupport thereafter Rosetta bridged that gab for two more years enabling PPC compiled code to be run as is on Intel hardware. As Apple is in an far more prominent position our days I do not think they can face it abandoning current hardware, especially not having “just” released their new Mac Pro within three years. That said I would assume that once announced (not released) we have some 4-5 more years of full OS support and at round about two years of x86-64 on arm support for the transition phase while presumably going the universal binary route thereafter.

But those are just my two cents.

Thank you for reminding me how things went last time - I had forgotten the details. It's not looking too bad then...

No offense but the last transition sux'd. We were left with an office full of G5's, three of which still run just fine. The dual 970 1.8 Ghz, 8GB, 1.8TB HDD, 128GB SSD booting 10.4 is the favorite. Does everything, just takes a little longer.

You should just be able to use dosdude1 latest patcher and download the latest version. Right click on download and Get Info and check the Version number

Just use dosdude1 latest catalina patcher and it will download latest version. Make your usb installer and install

@jhowarth & @Blackriton

Even with the V3 adapter for the WiFi / BT combo card, I still have the problems of sleep / wake and automatic reboot after the shutdown.

I replaced the old original BT card and everything is back to normal.

It is sure that I do not have the support of handoff and airdrop, but for the moment it is not a big problem because I am connected to the network in wired mode.

I will try again when I do a clean install again ... maybe with the next version of the OS!

Serviteur,

I just want to give a thanks to the creators of the Catalina Patcher. I have a MacBook Pro 2010 and knew that High Sierra's days were numbered. When I ran across the Catalina Patcher I thought what the heck, I may as well give it a try. I bought a bigger SSD drive thinking if nothing else I would just put High Sierra back on it if need be and at least have a bigger drive. I had already maxed out the RAM at 16gb. All went well and the only issues I had were a few apps that wouldn't open such as DevonNote, Chrome, and Office. Yesterday going through this forum I finally found the fix for that! I couldn't be happier right now. My MacBook Pro is running better on this version of Catalina then it did on High Sierra and I don't have to worry about upgrading my hardware right away. I don't even care much for the current hardware compared to what I have. I still love my 2010 MacBook Pro!!

Windows 10 with Boot Camp...... After reading a few posts that stated people were unable to boot back to the Apple Volume after using Boot Camp to install Windows 10, I decided to try something

I wanted to install windows 10 using boot camp and add that that as a 2nd drive to my 2010 15" MBP, so I can boot to either hard drive. After I got Windows up on that drive, I decided to see if I could boot back to the Apple Volume.. and BAM, it worked.

So, feeling lucky, I backed up my main drive on my MBP (you know, in case I mess up) and decided to try to this on there, too... BAM it worked.

I uploaded a quick video of it booting back and forth...

Now, I'm not saying to try this on your computer but if you try, BACK UP YOUR COMPUTER 1ST, just in case.

So, boot camp doesn’t work properly huh? Wish I’d seen posts about that before I tried. Windows installed perfectly but I’ve completely lost access to my Mac partition. I can see it on the windows side in the boot camp control panel, but restarting to it just boots me into windows. I’ve tried the boot manager with the option key, but the only option is the windows partition. Is the only solution a full re-installation of Mac OS? MacBook Pro 5 1 here.

Bonjour!

Take a look at this page and search for black screen issue with Catalina. Apple is spending some time in making iMacs users life a little bit more interesting ?

Just to say that the replacement of MonitorPanels and MonitorPanel.framework with the ones from 10.15.3 (indiawallah's post #9415) still works for 10.15.6 beta2 - i.e. brightness slider and automatic brightness control checkbox are there. And NightShift which I had already installed with Patch Updater.
I didn't try to re-apply all patches with the updater as a remedy as dougg3 did in post #11186 - next time.

(MBP5,2 17" mid 2009, 2.8GHz Penryn T9600, Nvidia 9600M GT, 8GB, APFS ROM patch applied, Samsung SSD 840/860 EVO with APFS. Catalina 10.15.6beta/10.15.5)
