No, due to the fact the OS relies on APFS for the second "User Data" partition in Catalina.
is the apfs patcher still buggy and have the screen flash issue? Doesn't it mess with the EFI/Bootloader?
It's the only reason I'm hesitant to patch my macbook. Also, if I format my drive as APFS, if I mess it up can I reformat it with an SL DVD? will it recognize the drive?

Yep, same here
If you did any mods with the 10.15 Catalina install app that is why it won't create a patcher I re-downloaded the 10.15 beta app and I successfully created a patcher but it says I need a firmware update on my MacBook 5,1

Currently, it will only work on machines that support APFS booting natively. Do you have the APFS ROM Patch applied?
Yes I used your APFS rom patcher on both my MacBook 5,2 and iMac 9,1 both say needs firmware update or choose a drive Journaled extended

Ok, I'll have to patch that check out, then. I'll release an updated version soon.

On a MacPro 3,1 with your APFS boot room and NVME patch, when installing to a clean APFS formatted SSD, I get this message at the start of the install.

So I formatted as requested by the installer and the install proceeded until this.

It does not like the extant boot rom.

where can we get the .app catalina installer? juls macos downloader is giving me a zero kb download (despite taking a while to download).

Firmware update required issue has now been fixed in Catalina PartialPatcher! New version can be downloaded here.
Excellent work, I will check out the update.

I am still testing my patches on various installs for MP3,1 and will post them once I am happy with 'em.

Post Install Mojave should target the location you manual select, so you can try from there adding only the USB patches OHCI, but don't force cache rebuild! Just reboot without tick the box, because I guess is not fitted for Catalina kernel.

Applying USBOHCI patch did not seem to work but I definitely liked it when the mighty Mojave patcher advised me that it could not locate a valid Mojave installation on my Catalina partition. I pressed OK and went through anyway.

Excellent work, I will check out the update.

As promised, I compiled my patches for Mac Pro 3,1 (2008) for Catalina.

What is interesting is the WiFi patch that I used from Dosdude1 evenually would not behave sometimes on Catalina. Sometimes it would take and sometimes not. So I noticed some different kext's were loaded on Mojave and my WiFi was working on Mojave, so I tried those, and they worked. I have no clue what version they are from, I didn't check, but what I tried to do here was compile a set for MP3,1 users that can get the following up in running on a clean install:

WiFi
Native Audio
Legacy USB
Webcam Support
ASentientBot's HID Stall fix
High Sierra's Telemetry

I tested it on a couple installs, including a clean install. If you find any errors or things that could be added to make a Mac Pro 3,1 run smoother, just holler and I'll add it in. This is a temporary replacement for lack of patches at this time for Catalina and the Mac Pro 3,1. I take no credit for any of them except for noticing different WiFi Kext used on my patched Mojave. All property is owned by their respectful owners. My shell script is written from scratch. :) I'll probably still keep this up as it is handy.

Your mileage may vary. This is considered experimental.

I did notice there is an AppleLegacyUSBAudio Kext that stops Prelinked Kernel from being built. I don't know if its in the AppleHDA.Kext or Apple's newer AppleUSBAudioKext. Just thought I would point that out. I am letting the system trigger Prelinking the Kernel at boot.
As mentioned previously, my 3,1 runs the Mojave patcher 1.3.3 legacywifi kext with success - no real instability. What wifi card do you have on your pro 3,1 ? I swapped my original card out for a BCM4322 BT+WIFI (this was back in the Sierra days).
