That means the pre-installer didn't work correctly. Try erasing the volume (formatting as APFS), and try installing to it again. If it doesn't work on the second attempt, send installer logs. Also ensure your system date and time is set correctly.

Yes I did and checked again tried the updated patcher still no detecting my MacintoshHD when I booted into the Mojave Patcher it detects my HDD
That's normal. If you get the circle with slash at all, that is a sure sign that NVRAM is NOT set correctly. If setting from the installer/Recovery OS, just run nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check", without sudo.

I need to give a huge thanks to @ASentientBot. Just tried out his Catalina acceleration patches today, and I just have to say WOW, the system runs amazingly well! I haven't experienced a single issue with it yet. Thanks again for all the time you've put into this!

Again sorry to bother, but does that Mac have a Metal GPU

Edit: Sorry, didn't realize that you showed the About This Mac Screen. Do you have any clue about the possible release date of the next patcher? I just installed Mojave on a SSD I got for my birthday yesterday on a MacBook Pro of the same year as yours.

I estimate I'll have a full patcher available within about a month or so.

I thought the fourth time might be a charm because it went through the entire install as normal BUT on the first full boot the progress bar sticks 10 mm from the end or at the end. This is MP 3,1 with APFS and NVMe boot patches and a flashed NVidia 680.
Safe boot does not work.
I might connect to a supported Mac with Catalina IMG_0083.JPG and run DU on it to see if it needs a repair. So close but no cigar yet.

Thank you for everything you have done. You have revived 3 Macs for me alone. You are amazing. (I am so happy to have talked to The Tech Legend known as dosdude1!!)

I feel bad for you, but are there any errors in Verbose mode? If that is a stupid question, sorry as I am somewhat/not really new to macOS. Watching lots of EverythingApplePro.

That's the odd thing, command + s boot shows no errors at all—and once it did momentarilt flick to the initial setting screen but when I set the setup language to English it immediately went to the recovery screen—never mind I can wait a month.

Good work Colin

I have created a usb stick with @dosdude1 patch and when i reboot with option key to proceed the installation, it recognizes de usb stick. When i click it goes directly to recovery, not the installation of the OS. What is wrong? Am i missing something?

Wait, wasn't there a post in which somebody managed to get it running by rsync-ing files from the APFS partitions or something? I can't find it now but I could've sworn it happened.

Paging APFS experts @Starplayr and @jackluke...

Thanks for count me among experts, but really I am not expert, I have just an intermediate knowledge (I read many manuals), however in this field, programming languages and technology change so often that you need to learn again new stuffs, and what already knew becomes obsolete soon.

Anyway, I have attempted to make a working Catalina HFS+ but haven't succeeded, however someone here did: Catalina on HFS+ - a HOWTO

but I haven't tested yet his method.

Honestly this time I guess having HFS+ doesn't worth it more, for many reasons OTA updates for example.

I thaught the same when I read "reinstall MacOS" and pulled all other drives, it _is_ Catalina. It is just the installer, no Dosdude Tools.

@dosdude1 ,

Maybe you can make an option this time in the catalina patcher, that iMac 2011 models bij default won't get legacy video card patcher..
This would be great I think for all of the 2011 iMac users who have upgraded their AMD GPU's to compatible Nvidia metal one's for example..

I thought i would like to share this thought ;)..

Ok, I managed to get in Catalina on a MacBook5,1 with bluetooth devices, USB and iSight are working. Now the issue I am experiencing is when trying to copy patched CoreDisplay.framework to /S/L/F it just hangs there. I mean it is only 1MB, I pressed stop copying and it hangs saying stopping for ages. The system is not frozen, I can move mouse around. I am wondering what is the safe way to get out of it without damaging anything? @jackluke ?

You are almost there, but you need also to replace the IOSurface.kext patched from @ASentientBot , otherwise kernel panic when you attempt to load gpu framebuffer/acceleration.

About CoreDisplay and Skylight are constantly in use by the system they can only replaced in single user mode (or replaced by copy booting from another macOS HigherSierra Finder)

I do this way, using the CoreDisplay.framework and Skylight.framework (privateframework) both patched by @ASentientBot, I rename them in .framework2 and copy inside their respective Frameworks/Privateframeworks, then I reboot in single user mode (CMD+S) and type from Shell:

mount -uw /
cd /S*/L*/Frameworks/
mv CoreDisplay.framework CoreDisplay.backup
mv CoreDisplay.framework2 CoreDisplay.framework
cd /S*/L*/PrivateFrameworks/
mv SkyLight.framework SkyLight.backup
mv SkyLight.framework2 SkyLight.framework
exit

and, to 2nd that:

A feature to uniinstall a patch would be helpful also. For example uninstall the legacy video driver if I change the gpu to a supported one. Or I use an external drive for various machines.
