Now it won't get past the first stage of the boot process white screen black apple logo after removing the telemetry plugin

You have to try wait till 5 minutes to reach the loginUI, since it could be the "HID stall_timeout" non-patched that causes that delay in booting.

Deleting telemetry.plugin is totally safe even on a supported Mac.

However typing "exit" there is no stage1 apple logo, probably you didn't typed it ?

Retry from single user mode, and type exit, boot process should be faster.

But if you used the Mojave Patcher Post-Install, then you can't boot, since the "Video Patch" contain old CoreDisplay and no SkyLight, more over selecting the "Force cache rebuild" will result in a wrong prelinkedkernel for Catalina.

yes I did type exit then after a bit the white screen with the black apple logo appeared the progress bar reached a little past halfway then rebooted and did the same thing again. Now I am going to try with a clean install :)

Then you're right, it wasn't only the telemetry.plugin your issue.

After a clean install you need to delete the telemetry.plugin for C2D machines, otherwise you obtain same result a quick reboot (kernel panic) after filled apple loading bar.

Looking through the Mojave Patcher.app/Contents/Resources/macOS Post Install.app/Contents/Resources files, I assume that the stock scripts for...

sipPatch.sh
legacyPlatform.sh
legacyAudioPatch.sh
legacyusb.sh
usbohci.sh
legacyiSight.sh
platformsupport.sh

should be sufficient to patch a MacPro 3,1 with GTX680. However I am unclear what should be done for wifi. I have a supported Broadcom BCM94322MC which doesn't require Mojave legacy wifi patch. My understanding is that those drivers were removed from Catalina. So. does that imply that I want to copy over the IO80211FamilyV2.kext from Mojave and do I need any additional kext?

I updated my 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 patch shell script and included:

1. Replaces Telemetry script with the one from High Sierra.
Only run this on Catalina, Do not run this on Mojave.

2. Gets Sound to work on MP3,1

3. Gets WiFi to work on MP3,1

I have not found a fix for a 60s IOUSBInterface delay (it does this three times).

If I find a USB delay fix for the MP3,1 I will include it.

I am using this script myself to setup and test fresh systems. It is not meant to be a replacement for dosdude1's patch tool. It is a good example of how one could maintain their own script for a specific system. I take no credit for the Kext's used in this script, nor its findings. Use at it your own risk.

This script is currently bare bones meaning it is the absolute least stuff it can do to get Catalina to run and operate relatively normally.

This can be can augmented with Dosdude's Patch Update app (the one with blue the circular arrows). Which will install other things that this script does not.

hi, work this with my MP5,1 ??

Has anyone had any luck updating their 5,1 from Beta 1 to Beta 2? I had to download the full installer and copy it to my Mac Pro from a compatible Mac. I may have to pull the SSD and do the update with a compatible system until a workaround is found.

Updates have the same restrictions as full installs, it's the same Distribution file.

If this beta 2 downloads the full installer (6,5 gb) from "Software Update" on unsupported Catalina Mac, then I can stay on beta 1 for now, cannot download a full installer for each beta release, may I try from a supported Mac at least to verify the official beta2 update size (I guess 3 Gb), maybe would be easier to retrieve a downloaded OTA update from a supported machine /Library/Updates/ and, if won't open from unsupported Mac, edit the Distribution inside the "Update.pkg", then repackage a UpdatePatched.pkg and install without passing for the full installer.

No luck in a Macbook Pro 17" 2011. Installation freeze and reboot in minute 3. Will keep trying.

disable SIP first, check status with csrutil status in terminal. then follow instructions setting compatibility check before booting from the installer.

I just figured this out, not sure if anybody else already did. For those with MacBook7,1 (and probably other nVidia-based systems), you can fix ethernet on Catalina by copying from Mojave:
Code:
/System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/nvenet.kext

You’re right, Ethernet didn’t work on my MBP. I will test this the next time
