I just figured this out, not sure if anybody else already did. For those with MacBook7,1 (and probably other nVidia-based systems), you can fix ethernet on Catalina by copying from Mojave:
Code:
/System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/nvenet.kext

Infact, even if I don't use ethernet from a laptop, in Catalina unsupported Mac it was not functional, and you fixed it. Well done!
[doublepost=1560800355][/doublepost]@pkouame Czo's software update patch for unsupported Mac seems to not work more on Catalina beta 1.

I guess you have the same issue as @avz , you could try to use the prelinkedkernel shared from @pkouame but take a copy of your Catalina one.

It probably was much easier for me to do the install on a supported MBP.
As you suggested kextcache -I / worked much better than sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel. I always used the latter on Mojave.

So far rom my testing last night I had erased my hdd while waiting on the partial cat installer but I had did a clean install of Mojave set up my account did the post install and updates from the patch updater then created the usb partial cat installer b3 installed over Mojave apple post install patcher with the Mojave Patcher without force rebuild got to second phase of the boot process then this morning removed the telemetry plugin according to jackluke's instructions only got to phase 1 of the boot process then reboot so did a wipe of my hdd did a clean install of cat dev beta 1 it just reboots

Then try this:

from your Catalina Mac, before power-on, plug the USB Mojave Patcher (any version), power-on, hold alt-option key and boot from the USB Mojave Patcher, after loaded, launch the Mojave Post-Install

Don't select your Mac model, target your Catalina Volume and select only these patches:

Legacy USB Injector
USBOHCI Support
SIPDisabler
Legacy Audio
Legacy Platform Compatibility
Legacy Wifi

Select Volume: YourCatalinaLabel

Press Patch button

But Do NOT install/select the "Legacy Video Patch" and do NOT check "force cache rebuild".

Just reboot and unplug the USB Mojave Patcher, and maybe Catalina should boot.

Ouch! Good catch ...

Is it an installation issue? If I remember correctly a dylib is installed and the softwareupdate plist modified to swizzle the method that checks for compatibility (on the fly during the preferences/software update process).

I had compiled a debug version version of my own a while ago. If you give me some details, I can resurrect my Xcode project to debug it. Since beta2 is out - good time to test - but I'm at work so no access to the right machine.

Or @Czo may be on it already...

So I have gotten Catalina DP1 installed on an external hard drive connected to my MacBook Air 2011 (4,2). I used @dosdude1’s Patch tool and it installed without a hitch. Of course, I don’t have graphics acceleration or WiFi so I was wondering exactly what files I needed to copy over from my Mojave Patcher USB (I saw there was kexts in there for hdgraphics3000).

A lot of people here have legacy Nvidia cards, so I’m assuming the process may be different? @ASentientBot @jackluke
(Sorry for being a bother, just eager to test this out!)

In the next days I guess I can't update the unsupported Catalina Mac to beta 2, for one main reason I have little disk space available, but I'm confident that a new fix is very possible, I mean we have the amazing @ASentientBot and all the working stock extensions/frameworks from Catalina beta1 where retrieve materials.

Then we have a future Skylight.framework from 10.14.6 final release that @ASentientBot is surely capable to patch and align with 10.14.4 CoreDisplay.

edit: I guess I have misunderstood your question.
