The big question is does it fix the YouTube/safari scroll thing that I can confirm was clearly created at Satan's specialised 'infuriating irritations' department in the deepest bowels of Hell.
what issue is that? scrolling youtube in safari is working (and has worked) fine here all along...

If you go onto a video & then try to scroll (say for example towards the comments section), you run into a sort of resistance/barrier, that you then have to more forcefully scroll through on the touchpad to get 'over.' It varies in its severity with different videos for some reason. Jerky and seemingly occurring with no consistency.

I'm defo not going nuts, I've seen someone else on the forum experience it lol. Other browsers work fine.

Apologies, I've without consent installed that into your head now. Lol it seems to fit no pattern - sometimes really minor and other times fully 'fighting' the trackpad.

Anyway....1st world problems I guess. Otherwise Big Sur for me is perfect.

It's not yet released. This is a release candidate and the final version will likely be released tomorrow.
Well that's odd, why was I being offered it then? It definitely did not say "RC" or "Beta" in Software Update, and it only reports "11.1" in About This Mac (no build number is reported).

What’s the build number ?
I was not on a beta and the update when offered did not indicate "RC" or "Beta" or anything like that. Just looked up the build number and it is "macOS 11.1 (20C69)". So if that is in fact the release candidate, why didn't it say that in Software Update?

i think OP is messing around , Why would apple release a major OS Update on a Sunday? and he didn't even mentioned if he has the beta profile installed or if its a public release.. Don't see any update available on my end and im not a beta tester on a beta profile
I'm not messing around. I did not have a beta installed, it's the base OS included on a new MacBook Air (I believe it was 11.0.0, in About This Mac it just said "11.0"). And it definitely did not indicate the update was a beta or release candidate or anything, I know because I looked hard for that information before updating. It seems perhaps they offered me the release candidate without telling me it was the release candidate. Perhaps there are zero changes from that to release so they just started pushing the RC to some machines? I don't know.

Not sure what's going on, I have 2 other Macs that are still on Catalina and they're only offering an update to 11.0.1, the M1 Air is the only one that got offered 11.1. Maybe they mistakenly pushed the RC late last night for a brief time (but not labeled as RC) and then (after I downloaded) pulled it? Which scares me a little because what if they pulled it because they discovered some terrible last-minute bug?

The release candidate does not appear as a beta anywhere as it may be the version that gets released, but you would only get it if your computer was checking for beta updates.

The "true" release version of V11.1 is not yet available. I am using OS 10.15.7, but do not participate in the beta program. Via software update, it shows V11.0.1 is available to download. But regarding V11.1, the release candidate version was released 3 days ago:

Nothing since then, as far as I can tell.

This security update isn't yet released, so it could probably also be considered a "Release Candidate," same as the 11.1 RC.

I suspect this is a glitch at Apple's end. I was being offered beta updates at one point despite not being enrolled in the beta.

Should we expect 11.1 to come out tomorrow or more likely on tuesday? it must come out in next 2 days to support the new airpods, the only question is whether tomorrow or tuesday, Can't wait to get the update to iron out initial big sur performance albeit its been pretty damn solid on my 2017 macbook pro

I know, I really want to try out the OTA on my new Open Core setup on my 2012 Air.

I had disabled the beta update.
I now have re-enrolled just a short time ago & came up with update which appears to be the actual 11.1 update, which I'm now downloading & updating.

Just installed 11.1 (20C69). I had developer beta installed prior. Wonder if released to developers and will be released tomorrow or Tuesday to public.
