11.1 is now being offered on 2014 MacBook Pro as well. I am assuming this means that they sorted out the firmware issue?

The 11.1 update has made my MBA M1 stuck on this screen for the past 10 minutes or so. What is this red bar?? Has anyone seen this? A bit afraid to try rebooting it or anything...

Edit: It eventually finished, about 15-20 minutes after I left the room to go make lunch. Nothing seems to be out of place yet, but definitely worried...

Just completed the download. Installer file is still in my Applications folder, but I'll move it to another location on my internal SSD. The version is 16.2.01.

I might try and install on a partition on an external SSD I have later. Just hope it does not "brick" it!

M1 Mac Mini, was stuck on the updating screen for over an hour, then rebooted into recovery. I ran first aid on the drive then rebooted and am now stuck on the red progress bar too. Waiting to see if anything happens.

My MBA that did the same red progress bar did finish eventually. Just odd that there's this red background on the bar. Hope yours fixes itself, too.

Mine is also stuck at progress bar after restart and showing no time. It has been like that for an hour, I can restart it, login and it starts to do the same.

Strange behavior...

While downloading the remaining time is sometimes displayed, sometimes not. Than it is stuck for some time on preparing.

On two Macs than everything went as expected and, I was logged in and had to enter my password to unlock the Mac. On one Mac had to enter my username and password (not the dialog displaying all users). Never had that before after an update.

This update took way longer than updates on previous macOS versions. Various reboots with the progress bar without any hint how long time estimated and no hint on whether its doing a normal boot or updating. Very annoying.

Is anyone else stuck in a loop trying to update? I had this same issue when I was trying to update to Big Sur. It keeps going to about five minutes left before it finishes and then it goes back to 'Checking for updates'.

Then I get an error message that says "An error occurred while downloading the selected updates."
