What are you talking about? This is a major upgrade one month in the making that offers significant performance enhancements to MacOSDownload seemed slow for a mere 3.27GB - but at least it wasn't the meltdown that was 11.0.1.
Installed over that (eventual) 11.0.1 on a 2017 Air, seemed no worse than any other install - and the results seem okay, but too early to say for sure. And I don't expect anything earth-shattering in the way of improved daily functionality.
Nothing in its its notes to suggest Apple has solved the 'older Macs' issues that gave users pricey doorstops, though.
The full installer file did wind up in my Applications folder. But I moved it to another location on my Mac Mini, and launched it from there. It did not go away (hence, do not need to download it again (just in case)).Where does the Big Sur update installer get downloaded to? (I know it gets auto deleted when the update is completed however if an update fails then that installer file might stay on the system clogging up and taking up disk space due to an unsuccessful upgrade attempt)
The applications folder?
Or you could use this software:Took about 5-6 tries to get documents to properly scan but I got it working. Just have to wait for HP to come out with an update.
It's AWFUL! I spend more than 5 minutes on waiting to boot and get ready whereas when i had Catalina it booted up in a few seconds. iMac 2017 1TB fusion i5. Completely unacceptable.Anyone has installed 11.1 on an iMac with Fusion Drive ? If yes, what about the boot time vs Catalina or Mojave ?
Just out of interest, did you invest in the permanent license for Vuescan, or the 1 year license?Or you could use this software:
VueScan Scanner Software for macOS, Windows, and Linux
VueScan is the easiest way to get your scanner working on macOS, Windows and more. VueScan includes a driver for your scanner even though it isn't support anymore.www.hamrick.com
I have been using VueScan for years. It's trouble free - It just works. Hamrick updates the software frequently.

They just follow ios versioning scheme, as well as the UIMissing the days when a .x update came with a new cat name
I have none of that on my iMac 27" 2020 i7 or 2015 MBP 15" i7, both are just as performant on 11.0.1/11.1 as they were on 10.15I just tried it out as a fresh install. I could only stand it for an hour. Everything lagged. It wasn't a significant difference, but I could definitely feel it. Animations were also choppy, especially when it came to minimizing and maximizing from the dock. My 16 Inch MPB has 32GB of Ram, so there is no way it should be performing like that. Even scrolling in Safari felt jerky. Some of the stock apps also seemed to open up slower. What a disaster! I switched back to Catalina and I plan to stay there until we get an El Capitan version of Big Sur. This version is not it.
