In case you guys didn't catch this from Mr Macintosh on what's new in 11.1:

Softwareupdate –fetch-full-insaller fixed!

One of the big fixes that we have been waiting for is that softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer now works! @grahampugh also found a new option that we can use to see all of the full installers available for download.

softwareupdate --list-full-installers will show

Oh well!
This is interesting information. I've been using gibMacOS for find the install assistant.

Hi All,

I have a late 2013 iMac 27 that I upgraded to an internal SSD (samsung EVO). It is working great on Catalina but I was a bit annoyed to see it was not supported for Big Sur.

A little research has revealed that my iMac works well on patched Big Sur, but some reports of issues on Fusion drive (not an issue for me), and possibly some issues with display of some features of the OS (like fuzzy corners of windows etc.). I was just posting here to find out if more was known about this display issue (does it effect all late 2013 iMacs and can it be fixed?) or if there are any other issues I should consider before going this way?

Perhaps I could install it on a USB SSD first and see if it works OK from that?

Cheers!

As do I. Unfortunately this iteration of softwareupdate doesn't seem to give info for an unsupported Mac. Maybe there are some switches that will allow or force this. I'll check the man pages. Edit: Just did and nothing helped.

A USB SSD is a great idea. It's generally recommended to have a partition or SSD for the supported OS and another one for the unsupported OS so you can boot both.

Big Sur 11.1 (20C69) Succefully BigMaced on my Mac Pro 3.1 (early 2008) with additional Jackluke's Legacy USB fix.
I performed a clean install and migrate user account from 11.0.1, it's dumbest method, but it work.

Deleting snapshots on Big Sur 11.1 (20C69) is not work anymore using Big Sur micropatcher's 0.4.1 or 0.5.1:(
Is there some other method?

macOS 11.1 has firmware updates for supported Macs. If some of us are using OpenCore to spoof an iMac Pro, is it 'possible' or even 'desirable' to update some of the unsupported models to this new firmware? [mine's a cMP 2010]

Sounds like that could get dodgy.
I think this was pointed out as a possibility earlier.

This weekend I tried all patches on my MBP 8.2 late 2011. Patched sur and Micropatcher worked fine but with AIRDROP NOT WORKING. OpenCore worked fine but with AIRDROP WORKING. Why this difference? Do I make any mistake with Patched sur or Micropatcher?

Even if it seems to work, will there be an update to Barry‘s Micropatcher? I just want to make sure before upgrading.

Here's a thought: since v 0.5.1 works very well, go ahead with your installation. If/when he updates, just build another patched USB installer with the same BS (20C69) or a newer build if released and re-apply the installation. Believe me, it does no harm to re-install and can fix little glitches if they arise.

You all do know that Barry said a few weeks ago that he had another life and would be busy???

Please check our his GitHub page linked on the first post yourself. There is no update but you may use the latest development fork, if you believe to need it. The 0.5.1 version works as usual.

MacBookPro9,2, MP 0.5.2, BigSur 11.1 (20C69) - Updated using full installer via USB. Minor issue: Update process got stuck with black screen upon reboot. Holding power button to restart solved it.
