Just holding back and waiting for a "stable" release to apply on top of v0.0.13.

The v0.0.18 looks like a good candidate - just waiting a few days.

A follow up - have applied OCLP v0.0.18 onto my 2012 Macmini6,1.

Basically:
- run the OCLP
- adjust the patcher settings to turn off Verbose mode
- build and install onto SD card EFI
- restart

After above done, tested the OTA going from 11.2.2 to 11.2.3 - successfully applied. All is well.

Thanks again to @khronokernel and the dortania team. Nice work.

MBP 9,1 (non retina, mid 2012, 15 inch) oclp 0.0.18, oc 0.6.8, BS 11.2.2 fresh install from thumbdrive to blank internal ssd. How should the config.plist be modified (boot-args ?) to avoid the black screen issue? agdpmod=vit9696 works but screen is too dark and screen/kbd brightness controls don't work.

Just noticed I now have 1440p and 4K as YouTube options on my 1080p Late 2013 iMac running Big Sur with OpenCore. ...(...omississ...)...
Dear Neo_Hunt, I was not wrong to say that you are a very thoughtful person! You could have make Steve Jobs happy, he was attentive to surround himself with smart people... :)
I checked with my iMac 27 in late 2013 (updated at time of purchase with i7, 4GB graphics card, etc) and YouTube works better just how you said so: it not only recognizes 4K quality, but videos have never been this fast. My display, of course, is not 4K; but since the video is 4K and therefore contains more information and more details, the feeling is that of having bought a new Retina Mac. :)
Maybe it's how you think: the credit goes to OpenCore which allows to recognize our Macs as Mac 15,1 in all.
To stay IT and not be OT ;) I add that I bought my Mac in mid-2014 with Maverick, immediately installing macOS 10.10 Yosemite (in advanced Beta) and since then this is the first time that the Mac has become snappy, fast, has excellent performance like never before.
Thanks Macrumors and thanks to all people of this Thread!
With Big Sur on my "unsupported" Mac, everything flies, including the latest Photoshop 22.3 with neural filters. Obviously I'm not a graphic designer or a videomaker, but I use the Mac for common uses, including graphics and multimedia.
And if the new MacBooks Pro (2018 and 2019) of my family and friends have disk performance of 1700M/s, I am not envious when I optimize them because the Finder or some applications working times are (more or less) the same in many circumstances; for example: the bad final wait for Office 365 installations or Adobe Acrobat updates... ;)

Finally ... it must be emphasized, as for me, that all my excitement could derive from having put the 2 TB SSD in place of the mechanical HD of the FusionDrive (1TB HD + 128GB SSD). In fact, I use the Mac for work and have 600GB of data. Because of this, Fusion Drive's behavior gave me inconsistent performance, based on its need to take recently unused applications or files from the large mechanical HD to transfer them to the 128GB SSD; obviously after wasting time making them space inside the SSD transferring data from SSD to mechanical HD. So the VM with Winzozz, which now starts up in seconds, with FusionDrive always spent minutes and idem was very slow the opening some high dimensioned files.

I have tried also with the Bless OpenCore but it does not work.
If I select the EFI device after hit the Alt key, the Mac Pro hang and the only thing I can do is power off.
If I power on normaly, it start macOS Catalina in verbose mode.
I am using similar config, getting same result as above.

OCLP 0.0.18 builds and installs normally on a USB drive, OC icon appears in boot list, choosing it causes an immediate hang.

I got a quite a scare the first time I tried OCLP as after hang it kept a black screen and appeared dead. I thought "OMG this is my daily-drive, did I misread the guide and this thing tromps on ROM?! No. Pulled plug and waited 30 secs, then power cmd-opt-PR restored normal operation.

Trying again I find the OCLP verbose option makes it into NVRAM. Hitting power returns to Catalina in verbose mode.

I have tried using several USB drives and double-checked OCLP setup, but always see a hang upon choosing the OCLP loader.

Reading a lot of posts, I see conflicting information on OCLP and 3,1 support. The most authoritative guide says requires 5,1.

I like OCLP because I don't want to APFS ROM Patch. Yes, I did make a BU of the ROM, but I pray to never need it as such would be an epic PITA.

Not sure how to further investigate. Suggestions? TIA

Edit — Garr, I guess this post belongs over on thread for OpenCore on the Mac Pro... I'll let it lay for now for others heading in same direction.

Read this last resolve for MBP9,1
https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/issues/116
and use the version in this thread to avoid any issue with MBP9,1

Hello to all
Hi @Ausdauersportler

I finally finished my script for cMP5,1 with upgraded Brandcom card
I gladly share it in order to add it to the different Patcher, if necessary.
I ran it after the various installs from 11.1 to 11.2.3 without any problems.

It checks if the started Volume is really Big Sur
It checks if SIP & SSV are disabled

It creates a folder in "Home" to mount the snapshot, then:
It patches "IOBluetooth.plist" for cMP5,1 with upgraded Brandcom card
It adds "CoreBrigthness.framework" to activate NightShift (thanks to @jackluke )
It deactivates Library Validation
It adds cMP4,1 and cMP5,1 to "PlatformSupport.plist
It adds cMP4,1 and cMP5,1 to "PlatformSupport.plist" in PREBOOT Volume
It patches "AppleGVA.framework" for H.264 acceleration
It creates "com.apple.AppleGVA" for H.264 acceleration
It recreates the Snapshot
Finally, it asks to reboot the cMP

The use is very simple, after the normal installation of Big Sur and access to the Desktop, all you have to do is unzip the "_cMP51_PATCH_.zip" archive on the Desktop, run Terminal, type "sudo" and Drag & Drop "cmp51.sh" contained in the unzipped "_cMP51_PATCH_" folder on the Desktop. And restart when requested...

Can HEVCEncode be forced as well?

Can HEVCEncode be forced as well?
Hi @startergo

With this method, I also tried to write "gvaForceAMDHEVCEncode -bool YES" in "com.apple.AppleGVA" (and I think I'm not the only one who tried it) but unfortunately it doesn't work.

Note: (in the same way, I also tried to patch "/System/Library/Video/Plug-Ins/AppleGVAHEVCEncoder.bundle/Contents/Info.plist" by writing: "System\ Support:Mac-F221BEC8:vendor8bit integer 1" like MP7,1 and iMac1,1) but it does not work either.

For now, only OC allows to force HEVC on cMP5,1 with compatible GPU.

Okay with OS 11.3 Beta 5 I just broke my ability to boot off my NVMe drive... I had to reinstall BS but I'm back to OS 11.2.3 in order to boot off my NVMe drive... there is no way to get OS 11.3 Beta 4 so I guess I'm stuck with 11.2.3 if I want to use BS for the time being...

I just wanted to add that this initiative by the community is amazing. I know "Why" Apple did this, but I don't like it at all and the fact that people have this software running smoothly on their supposed "incompatible" devices should make Apple ashamed (although I know that no one there cares) of this blatant act of trying to push people to upgrade.

Successfully installed macOS Big Sur 11.3 Beta 5 on my iMac (27-inch, Late 2013). Running Perfectly. TBH - even smoother than it was running the latest Catalina.

A BIG thank you to those who support this!!

apple doesn't support Mac OS on some older hardware for some good reasons. they don't joust do that to force u to upgrade the hardware. especially the 2012 hardware where unsupported because of some Security holes Intel Refusses to patch in the CPUs used in those machines. apple supports old hardware for very long time way longer than most other vendors do so there is no reason to tell apple to be "Ashamed" of them self

Thanks for your reply. I’m the first to say I’m wrong when I am.

Are you saying that the Intel Chip on my 2013 model iMac is carrying an unpatched vulnerability that makes its use (and many of those others still using the same HW on Catalina) an issue?

Also, if what you’re saying is true, what makes the issue any different using the Hardware with Catalina than it does with Big Sur?
