Do you know the exact version of the beta that you had installed on the machine at that time..?
(I'm curious if you also have the EFI of OpenCore that worked, to compare with the latest version)
Here´s what I got when firing up the old machine again... 11.0 beta with all 4.1 specific kexts, frame buffer, USB, keyboard etc.
(I have not managed to install the required kexts on 11.5 though, just tested it on a second 4,1´book)

Big Sur 11.6.7 (build 20G630) continues to work with updated OCLP 0.4.7, no issues detected..
Same here on a very problematic late 2011 MBP ID 8,2, with the discrete gpu disabled via the nvram patch.
nvram FA4CE28D-B62F-4C99-9CC3-6815686E30F9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00
Unlike Monterey, this combination of OCLP 0.4.7 and the latest version of Big Sur 11.6.7 works great. No Bluetooth issues (terrible on 12.4) fairly fast and most important "stable" (so far).

Now, how do I import my playlists to Big Sur's Music from Monterey?
I'd hate to think of doing that manually.

When installing this, did you install big sur first on another computer and then added kexts, and loaded drive, or what method did you use for it?
(You mean that you installed the kexts onto the root disk with root patching, not with OCLP right?)
I'm trying to achieve the same..

Exactly, and the teleport tool helped out to get control on the 4,1 despite missing USB functionality initially. Adding kexts and rebuilding caches was done "remote controlled" on the 4,1.

The LAN, does it work out of the box?
Thanks for the information!

Hello,
I am still with my 21.5 imac 2011 with 16 gb of ram and vanilla gpu ati 6xxx, stuck on High Sierra.
How does oclp big sur patcher runs meanwhile with non- metal gpu? Does Safari and photos work and how about general performance with virtual gpu acceleration? (Or should i try out catalina)

Best regards.

As in my signature, now running Big Sur 11.6.7 via OCLP 0.4.8. Everything works. It is a little slow 'cause on that MBP the ATI GPU is infamously bad (bad connection method used to join it to the motherboard, so it can fail, and many do) and it has to be disabled via an nvram code. The 2011 iMac "should" be OK (haven't seen any bad reports). Big Sur worked for me, even the terrible bluetooth connections I had when trying to install Monterey were fine. Follow the online instructions <https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/> and be sure to run the post install Root Patch. It should work fine.

The best you can do is replacing the GPU and the BT/WiFi module. Since 2014 people are doing this…

Thanks to your reply, but i am not able to do a GPU upgrade alone and don‘t want to spend much more money in a 11 years old system.
I've just dropped my 2011 MBP, which worked quite well with both Big Sur and Monterey. I can't recall any Safari problems. Photos had a few limitations. I got hold of older versions of Keynote and iMove (cf. OCLP pages). Word only worked until 16.49. More recent versions wouldn't display selected text properly. Apart from that I was quite satisfied. But of course Ausdauersportler is right: If you want to get serious, it would pay to do some hardware upgrades...

Could you describe which limitations did you have with photos?
But good to know that Monterey seemed to also worked well with you:)

Before i upgrade onto a used 2015 imac i would try Big Sur or Monterey on my 2011 imac an save the money by chance

As far as I remember, Library was missing in the left column. You had to create an album with all your photos to get access. There were probably more glitches, but I had my photo collection on a 2012 MBP which didn't cause any problems.

Thx for the fast replay. I also have a 2014 Macbook Air and 2018 Ipad to access my photos but i certainly love the bigger screen of my imac for that.

Creating a album should be no problem:) how about virtual gpu acceleration in general. Am i able to browse and watch youtube Videos without lags? My primary focus on this imac is some internet browsing, writing (using pages) and from time to time watch some pics on the larger screen. Nothing serious indeed…

It is written that thou schalt install the root patch. After that the tasks you mention won't be a problem. Try Big Sur on an external drive and find out.

installed 11.6.7 on an external disk for my mbp (installed OCLP loader on internal HDD which doesn't contain OS), all seems more or less fine. Also disabled dGPU because it's faulty.

At first frequently had issue that first boot attempt failed, on the second attempt I got kernel panic screen ("your computer was restarted, press a key or wait a few seconds to continue") but then booting continued. After that at random times I got just a grey screen instead of the login one. Not sure about the reason, but seems now it no longer occurs, maybe it was related to the fact that initially I installed OCLP loader to the external HDD.

11.6.8 is now Release Candidate, so look for it in the coming weeks..

I've got OCLP 0.4.7 running the latest beta release, no issues so far

Do you have File Sharing Enabled? Also, you might add your hardware to your signature the next time you have a free minute, as it helps to know what people are using.
On my late 2011 MBP 8,2, running OCLP 0.4.7 and the latest Big Sur RC, sometimes I could not access (smb protocol) the MBP after it wakes from sleep from my iMac on the same LAN (both computers connected to the local router via ethernet, about 2 feet away). A restart solves that and access is almost instantaneous thereafter. Fiddling with the file sharing settings on the target MBP does nothing, only a restart resolves the issue once it happens (about a 50-50 chance).
I have reverted to 11.6.7 and upgraded OCLP to 0.4.8 (same issue, intermittent and not resolved), and will wait for the real 11.6.8 to drop.

I’ve got an iMac 13,2 it’s a pity that 12.5 is having issues with Kepler GPUs it’s otherwise very good and serviceable hardware it was top of the line when I bought it. Quad core i7 with 32 gb of ram. Seems almost criminal from a sustainability point of view that they end up no longer being supported over time, but I guess for the IT industry 8 years of support is decent so I shouldn’t complain. There are options for it with other operating systems and the OCLP devs are amazing but they are not superhuman and these latest issues sound challenging.

Has there been any issues running the latest Big Sur patches?
