Erase all contents and settings
System Preferences now offers an option to erase all user data and user-installed apps from the system, while maintaining the operating system currently installed. Because storage is always encrypted on Mac systems with Apple silicon or the T2 chip, the system is instantly and securely "erased" by destroying the encryption keys.
In the macOS Monterey beta, the new option can be found by opening the System Preferences app, clicking on System Preferences in the menu bar at the top of the screen, and clicking on "Erase All Content and Settings" in the drop-down menu. An administrator password is required to proceed with restoring the Mac to factory settings.

Quick video of what it looks like with Menu bar auto-hide turned off in full screen, the window controls are a bit buggy at the moment.

In Split View apps, you can now switch out a tiled window for another one: Screen Shot 2021-06-10 at 9.30.52 pm.pngScreen Shot 2021-06-10 at 9.34.34 pm.pngScreen Shot 2021-06-10 at 9.34.47 pm.png

Would someone be able to replicate this setup in Finder and see if it's fixed in Monterey?

Requires using Finder in Column View with a Shared iCloud folder.

I'm so glad they are making Split View more intuitive to use in macOS and in the upcoming iOS. I always felt that even though the gestures were technically quicker once you get the hang of them, it was way too steep of a learning curve, especially if you don't use it regularly.

Now if only split view were a little more flexible.

Half the reason I still prefer two 24” screens (rather than say a single bigger screen) is because it allows for better management of multiple things at once.

I use ONE 43" 4k display... at 100% scaling.
That allows me to simply use a SPACE and put 2 apps side by side... or 3 ⅓ apps... or 4 ¼ in each corner.
Only Mail and Calendar really live in their own fullscreen windows. :D

How weird that 2 years ago, dynamic desktops were pushed by apple and now nothing. Guess I’m gonna have to save a copy of Catalinas dynamic desktop as well.

Little tip; keep an archive of all the previous MacOS wallpapers in your iCloud Drive. There's a link somewhere to the incredible deity who posted them all on their Google Photo library, and it's free to access. Someone did a similar job, but went back and up-rezzed all the OS 8 and 9 wallpapers to 5K!

Can you guys check if the today panel's widgets allow keyboard input/interaction like Catalina? They removed it for big sur. I was hoping it would make a comeback. Not confident it will happen, but would be a nice surprise.

Just checked, still there.

Does anyone have a screenshot of the pie chart progress bar when copying or moving files in finder? Is it similar to iPadOS 15 new progress pie chart?

What happens when you click it?
