EFI has loaded. Select the MACHD.
Yes, I see. But the question was - how to take off that strange "EFI" icon - it is not internal EFI link and it does nothing, except freezing mac, but is default !.
I have reinstalled macos, but still see the same screen at startup.
O'K, thanks to All, maybe I will do clean installation.

I have installed Monterey on a MacBook Air 4,2 using OCLP 0.31
The installation went smoothly but the deficits are substantial and I am not sure whether I have to downgrade.
It is clear that Apple is making extended use of metal in their apps and therefore the bugs are more severe than in Big Sur.

Problems.

1. Safari
Bookmarks show tracks of mouse cursor and other annoying artefacts.
The Back Gesture with the trackpad (two finger right) is not working.
Some Pages are not completely displayed.
Safari just stops the rendering. Sometimes refresh helps, sometimes not.
Workaround: Use other browser.

2. Fotos
Month, day, etc views are missing.
in "All photos", the photos are not sorting according to "pictures taken" anymore.
HEIV Videos are played using wrong colors.
Maps view is not working.
Workaround: None

3. Maps and Where-Is do not display any map and are therefore dysfunctional.
Workaround: Use Google Maps in the Browser and loose "Where-Is" functions.

4. Bluetooth is not working
Workaround: Maybe 0.32 will fix it.

5. Split Screen is not working

6. Showstopper Bug:
The OS sometimes goes into a "cannot launch any apps" state.
Workaround: reboot.

Overall I cannot recommend upgrading to Monterey on this machine for the time being.
I hope for some fixes in OLCP in the future. But it is clear that the metal limitations are not fixable by OLCP and I guess sooner or later I have to say bye bye to this nice notebook. Too bad.

OCLP 0.3.2 (nightly) with RDRAND patch let me install 12.1b1 on my trusty old MBP4,1 (glossy highrez).
Thanks @Syncretic and team.

I encounter this problem when i upgraded my macbook 11,1. what i do is when i'm done installing the open core on the internal drive and modify the show picker to false i restarted the mac, when the EFI icon appears just select that EFI icon then after it logins on my desktop i tried to reboot again my mac and that's it. EFI doesn't appear again.

Unfortunatrely in my case the EFI icon is wrong, after clicking it there is empty screen only

I tried, but have the same situation next boot
Boot into a still supported macOS version, reset the PRAM, rerun OCLP latest and rewrite OpenCore to your internal disk.

At least you can right now start and use your system. Have you ever used a different OpenCore (not OCLP) version on your mac? OCLP preserves manually made choices from existing OpenCore installations to some extend. Maybe this way your problem went into the current installation.

In case you have no still supported macOS installation to boot from: Now you know why it is a good idea to have such a fall back.

did you select your internal ssd when you installed opencore.? as i'm thinking that the opencore still not installed on your ssd. when i encountered that problem, i use my usb bootable with installed monterey to boot may mac successfully.

It is installed. Here is the screen which I see when booting with option key
Right EFI icon is true, but left one is wrong, and in normal booting just left icon appears as default

Now I finally understand your situation: The solution is like the others have already said: Once booted up with the EFI on the right, you will NOT see this EFI icon again, You then move the focus to the right (MACHD), and hold down the Ctrl key, then press the <enter> key or simply double click the MACHD icon.
This will ensure the MACHD will be selected for the subsequent boot up.
It shows you have 2 EFI in your system: assuming one is on the external USB and the other is on the internal disk. If the on on your internal disk is not the correct one, simply run OCLP and build another EFI directly onto your internal disk by selecting #1, #2, then select the internal disk, then select #1 for EFI volume.

The left icon indicates it is an OpenCore installation made by OCLP onto an USB pen drive or SD card. Can you pull the this device on boot? If you are able to identify the device holding this other OpenCore version delete OpenCore from it using the OCLP online docs - there is a section describing it.

Thank you, I will try it.
I reckon the easiest way for you is to
1. turn on your mac and hold the Alt/option key until the 3 icons show up
2. Select the icon on the left (which is an OCLP EFI on your internal disk), press the Ctrl key then the Enter key.
3. Once the second screen showing up, select the MACHD icon, press the Ctrl key then the Enter key.

That's it: no more selection for you for the future boot up.

After this steps the wrong EFI icon still apears, but now MacHD icon have default arrow. So, I have working system. Thanks a lot
Good to know. Yes, the wrong EFI is still there but it does not impact your normal boot up. You can figure it out later to either get rid of it, or hide the entire boot up by disable the boot up Picking function. Take your time to learn OCLP by going into each options to get a feel of the OCLP? Keep in mind that some of the expressions in the OCLP may be a bit strange to some like us not in the coding field.

No, AFAIK. Try to use the magic <tab> key after typing the 1st 1-2 characters for the folder / file name.
thanks for the reply, i was thinking in general for curiosity, not execution.
I'm finished with any  OS after Mojave
for now.

I only started macOS since earlier this year after decades of Bill Gates??
I am still using Windows as my main PC but try to get a taste of the Apple. So far I am quite impressed with the macOS for its ecosystem, which is far better than the Windows. But there is a saying: horses for courses.....

in 2019 (during the era  could not make a laptop that lasted 3 days) I purchased a Dell XPS 13"
which was my first windows thing ever (for home) and love the experience!

OSX was very great, fluid and they seem to be on your side.
these latest OS are for themselves and their profit.
i don't blame DosDude for not making software anymore, what a pain that must be!

My reason for learning macOS is to eventually convince my son to buy a M1 MBA, which has amazing battery life.

i'm updating my macbook pro 2014 now, should I patch the system volume later? can i leave automatic updates?
Assuming you are going to use OCLP for updating, you can ONLY apply the patch AFTER the macOS updating. You can also leave the auto update on but you will need to run Post-Install Volume Patch each time after your macOS is updated.
