There's a workaround? I didn't know about that, could you show me a link?Oh sweet! I mean I found the work around, but having to not do it would be ideal for sure.

Yes and no, depending on which issue I was talking about. I answered it on my last post. It was pending mod review for probably linking to the docs. but anyways. There's a workaround? I didn't know about that, could you show me a link?
I checked that initially but I don't think it answers my question about the experience with that setup. I can see that e.g. the GPU HD3000 is listed as compatible here: https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/issues/108 Whereas the FAQ you link to only mentions HD4000.
Searched HD3000 using the tiny magnifier at the top right hand corner of this page - try that?I checked that initially but I don't think it answers my question about the experience with that setup. Who knows how much else may have changed by now. Hence my question.
If you can't get it working, I found that Catalina and OCLP worked really well on my 2011 27". I have 32Gb of Ram in mine tho.Hi Everyone ! I hope you are healthy. Recently, I receive an old but clean IMAC 27 mid 2011. It's a A1312 Model. So I try to polish it for a gift to my girlfriend I change the HDD to an Crucial MX500 SSD and the RAM to a (2x8) 16GB Crucial too. I try to install macOS Monterey and the launch is good. BUT after starting and installing the root volume patching, to patchs : 1) Graphics : AMD TeraScale 2, 2) Graphics : Intel Sandy bridge, 3) Networking : Legacy Wireless. My computer boot and boot and boot and... Like a infinity loop. May are you some ideas to install the patch without the boot loop ? thanks you my friends and be care of your family and you !
The best you can do is changing the GPU with a metal one and possible adding a BCM94360XX BT/WiFi card. This makes the system fully compatible with Monterey and you would not need any patches. You do not really need the most expensive and GPU you can find on the list...every metal card you put in is better than the existing one.Hi Everyone ! I hope you are healthy. Hi, thanks you for your answer. ! After another clean install, this Imac work "fine". It is the root volume patch which broke this computer, I don't know why yet. Two problems remain: the first is the artifacts when watching videos (youtube or netflix) and the second is the deactivation of the wifi chip (which does not bother me because I use wired) For changing the GPU, which is the best for you to this computer ? There are so many version possible ^^. I don't have any equipment to welding :/ Thanks youThe best you can do is changing the GPU with a metal one and possible adding a BCM94360XX BT/WiFi card. Hello, thanks you to your answer, maybe If the computer didn't work, I will go back to another version. But I prefer to work and fine the solution I will check itIf you can't get it working, I found that Catalina and OCLP worked really well on my 2011 27". I have 32Gb of Ram in mine tho.
Did you apply the "Post Install Patch" in the end? If you still have issue applying the patch (your wifi is still not working, meaning the patch has not been applied), you can try the safe mode by holding the left <Shift> key and click Monterey icon at OCLP boot pick screen. Then try to install the patch in the safe mode (I vaguely remember I read somewhere about this, but could be wrong 😅).Hi, thanks you for your answer. ! Hello , Yes, when I apply the post install patch, and I reboot it, it is reboot indefinitelyDid you apply the "Post Install Patch" in the end? As for the metal supported GPU, I'd go with M5100: which is still relatively cheap to buy and does not require any heatsink modification. But the configuration of this card is a big challenge for a newbie though. It is an AMD card which does not require patch for Monterey. Once you upgrade the wifi card as well, which may require some soldering, you will not need to apply the Post-Install patch.
Ah, like that. Well, you can always download the nightly version of course. And I went ahead and tried it out on an early 2009 iMac and there seem to be no problems.Yes and no, depending on which issue I was talking about. I answered it on my last post. Looks like for the others we'll have to wait till it drops.
- Right click box was solved by the Beta Blur
- Mouse hover over finder was fixed as well. I did however leave reduce transparency on, but works without.
Here’s the thing: if you go with Monterey, this operating system will not reach maturity until the end of this year. So every time there is a major version update, it may break your system, until the wonderful OCLP people tweak the settings. Monterey can even be buggy on supported macs until later in the year.Hello, thanks you to your answer, maybe If the computer didn't work, I will go back to another version. To add to that, it could even be the case that Apple never decides to fix a bug before moving to their next release, or even leave the OS on a less than stable final release. To this day Catalina has issues with sleep mode on many different Macs, especially ones with fusion drives. Fixed in Big Sur of course, and it never was a problem in MojaveHere’s the thing: if you go with Monterey, this operating system will not reach maturity until the end of this year. If this is a machine that you want to experiment with, go for it and have fun with the trouble shooting (you and your gf can romantically trouble shoot together😂!), and everyone will appreciate the reports here…. but if this is a present for someone, it is probably a lot safer to start with Big Sur or Catalina and upgrade to Monterey at the end of the year. That will give your girlfriend a more stable system. Every time there is a major version update of Monterey, you may have to do trouble shooting on this machine.
Edit: or if you go with Monterey, just be really careful about updating, and point your girlfriend in the direction of the opencore legacy patcher website for some detailed study.
I've never been one to mess to much with nightly builds, esp on my main machine, but seeing how this has been super stable, I might give it a shot.Ah, like that. There sliders function perfectly, there are no glitches with the mouse cursor either. Transparency works fully
The only problem remaining is the fact that I still can't press the 'done' button when editing a widget.
Here you go.I've never been one to mess to much with nightly builds, esp on my main machine, but seeing how this has been super stable, I might give it a shot.
Is there a main page for the nightly builds? Is it just the TUI? or GUI app?
Side note, I don't seem to have that issue with the widget done button lol
Here you go.
I assumed that that widget issue had something to do with non-Metal gpus, but maybe it’s something else. I also can’t even use tab to highlight the done button like how the workaround should work so that’s also odd.
These went away in my case after I repatched with 0.4.3n. Thanks!Noticing a few more graphical issues. Nothing major but slight annoyances.

Nothing major, but maybe somebody has had something similar and fixed somehow? Performance wise 100% flawless (knocks on wood) so far.
Weird as mine is a mid 2010. Pretty far from metal I think lolHere you go.

I'm going to give it a go and report back. I've had a pretty stable machine so far. Reboots are always fun anxiety though 🥲These went away in my case after I repatched with 0.4.3n. Thanks!
Edit: They came back after another reboot. 🤪
That could be the case if you selected a memoji as icon. Seems like they also don’t work on the iMac I tested it on. Regular images work fine for meThese went away in my case after I repatched with 0.4.3n. Thanks!
Edit: They came back after another reboot. 🤪 (By graphical glitches I mean user icons on the login screen are not or only partially shown. Nothing major.)
Can someone point me in the right direction: Ever since Monterey Beta, this machine only received full size OTA updates instead of offering the incremental ones. What would I have to do, in order to get the smaller updates?
run OCLP and uninstall the Post-Install Root Patch. Get a newer machine... The post-install patches for HD4000 require SIP to be disabled. Therefore we don't get delta updates.
Perfect. This worked like charme. Update done. 21E5212fit's not because the SIP is disabled, but because of the snapshot created to run the HD4000 driver, if you install a previous version of the system and don't install the patch, go to system updates, and get the Delta update, then you can apply the patch.
