Hey guys, finally I made a clean install of macOS 13.0.1 on my rMBP late 2012 and Macmini, but while everything works fine on rMBP, Spotlight still doesn't work on Macmini (in which I installed two disk...!!!).

If I disable spotlight from Terminal, my Mac works really fast, but with spotlight enabled, it's slow, laggy and Finder and Spotlight doesn't respond.

Did someone find a way to fix this bug?
I'm absolutely sure it depends from the presence of two HD...

I tought that 13.0.1 (or open Core v 0.5.1) would have fix these bugs, but nothing!

Did someone else had these bugs?

Regards

^Older Macs tend to slow down for several minutes or even a few hours immediately after installing a new OS, precisely because of Spotlight indexing. Are you sure you let Spotlight finish its initial indexing task?

Thanks. If it won't do any harm I might install it just to make sure everything is as updated as it can be. Do I have to go through the entire install process, or is there a point where I can safely quit knowing the FW update has already applied?

Thanks.

I just keep a partition with Big Sur on as a backup on the drive in case anything goes wrong and for updates doesn’t use that much space in my opinion until 2014s are fully unsupported .

Hi,

I've just upgraded my iMac A1419 15,1 Retina 5k (Late 2014) - 27inch - i7 4.0GHz to MacOs Ventura 13.0.1 using OCLP 0.5.1 with default settings, I have AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GPU.

It's very laggy, and the Display shows: Unknown Display 81.5-inch. Anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Many thanks

Thanks, I just installed Big Sur to an external SSD and will keep that to one side for this reason. Firmware now at the latest. Cheers!

Have you installed the root patches? Without them the display is very laggy and the resolution is far too high.

Thanks so much, that worked, it seems to be working now smoothly, you have the exact same spec iMac 27 5k 2014 as me, is yours working 100% fully with Ventura or you have any issues?

You’re welcome. Mines working perfectly except for incoming airplay. My iMac doesn’t appear as an airplay target from my other devices. I just use an old licence of AirServer to get around this.

Thanks, that's good, hopefully means we get another few years out of these iMacs as they're great machines.

I need some assistance with OpenCore app so I can install Ventura on my 2012 Mac Mini. This person posted a YT video on how to do it, step by step. It looks easy enough however OpenCore does not give me an option to Build and Install OpenCore. That is grayed out even when I launch OpenCore. So when I perform Create macOS Installer and it tells me to install Ventura which it previously downloaded. It's on my Mac so no need to download it again. Once the process is finished I get the message that Ventura has been successfully installed and I click OK. The problem is my only option is to return to the main manu which looks like this picture with Build and Install OpenCore still grayed out. So I can't proceed. Am I doing something wrong.

First of all you'll need a newer version of OCLP. 0.5.0 and up support Ventura.

That pic came from the instructions on the OCLP website. I was using 0.5.1 and that's what happened. I then downloaded 0.5.0 just to see if it would make a difference and I saw the same but yeah I downloaded 0.5.1

I put OCLP 5.1 in my Applications folder. When I launch it, it says OpenCore Legacy Patcher v0.5.1 and Model Macmini8,1

The option to Build and Install OpenCore is still grayed out. I tried downloading it again and it still looks the same, odd.

First of all you must do a NVRAM reset - then boot in your supported system without efi boot. The problem is that there is a wrong oc efi boot spoofed your MM as 8,1. It should show 6,1 for MM 2012. Start 0.5.1 and device must be 6,1. You can use opencore configurator for easy mounting the efi partition and delete oc folder and build a new one.

Am I the only one having problems playing YouTube Videos (Macmini7,1) using Safari?
Chrome playing fine.

Oh snap, I totally forgot to mention that I downloaded and tried to do the build on my 2018 Mini. So perhaps that's the problem. I can easily do that on my 2012 Mini. That should solve the problem. Kudos to you for figuring it out.

imac 21.5 2011 with updated video card nvidia quadro k1000m 2GB (was Radeon HD 6770M), installed Ventura 13.0.1 from monterey 12.6.1... everything runs fine for now, even the apps that required metal to work and be installed.. ONE BIG PROBLEM: wifi doesn't activate, the slide stays on "deactivated" and doesn't move... I obviously installed the "postinstall patch", but.... you can navigate with an iphone connected to USB and sharing active , but no wifi for now... HELP!!

This is expected. Currently neither OCLP or Ventura support the 2011 iMac. Having said that, you could make it to work if you upgrade the stock wifi card to a newer one. You can read about it here. #

ahh ok... we didn't want it... what a pity!!!

I tried twice on my 2012 Mini and i'm getting the same error message on the popup window "An error occurred preparing the software update".

Anyone have an idea what is causing this?

MBP 9,1 and 10,2: Upgrades from 12.6.1 to 13.0.1 by USB pen drive went absolutely smoothly. No issues. Simply great! Thanks so much!

Just finished installing macOS Ventura on my 2011 21.5" iMac.
hi, does wifi work? I have the same Mac 21.5 2011 (with quadro k1000m 2 GB), installed ventura, everything works except wifi because the built-in atheros card is not supported by OCLP and Ventura, Did you change wifi card? or do you use anything else for wifi?
