I use my MacBook Pro (M1 Pro) every morning and almost always go round more or less the same set of things - check mail, a few websites, etc. And I often have it on my bare lap. So I feel it going from cold when I first start to warm after half an hour or so.

Updated to Sonoma last night and this morning, the MBP is staying much cooler. I'm noticing almost cold aluminium.

(I did also update Firefox so that might be having an impact.)

Working normally for me, but I'm on an Intel. Are you on Apple Silicon?
Yes, M2 MacBook Air. I have several Macs, so I only upgraded my on-the-go MacBook just in case. I typically do clean installs with every new major release, but wanted to try to just upgrade this time to see how things would go, so I am not sure if this is an isolated thing that just happened with my MacBook.

I may upgrade my M2 Mac mini over the weekend. If this is happening to others, hopefully they'll reply here. This was my active screensaver at the time of the upgrade, so not sure if that has anything to do with this glitch. Unfortunately, it's not like I can just download the screensaver and overwrite with macOS.

Have an interesting bug. After a round of about an hour of gaming (Baldur's Gate 3), I hopped out to do some work. I generally listen to YouTube videos while I work, well the audio is slowed and distorted. I checked Apple Music, and same issue. I've since rebooted and everything is fine now.

Sent a report, hope they get to it soon.

I am installing it today on my Intel iMac 2020. I am curious how it will go. I am on a beta cycle with Sonoma on my MacBook Pro M1 14'' and so far I can tell it is my favourite version of macOS.

--EDIT: Ever since I owned a Mac I did a clean install of any major release and so far I didn't expect any showstoppers or disappointments. 🤞♥️:apple:

Currently experiencing the "Lock Screen Bug" that occurred to a few folks here in the betas over the Summer-
When I'm returning to my Mac and moving the cursor to unlock, it shows that my Watch is trying to unlock and there's the prompt on the Watch and then a spinning circle and theeeeennnnnn nothing.. Screensaver comes back on. If I take my Watch off so I'm forced to type in my Password, I'm able to enter the Password but then I get the skinny circle again. I'm afraid of doing a hard reboot in case there's a Time Machine backup running or something, I don't want to make things worse. Need to find a terminal command to remotely reboot another Mac on the same network.
Here's an article with some Terminal Commands to remotely reboot your Mac, hope it helps.

ITS FINALLY FIXED. THEY FINALLY FIXED IT. MY GOD THE NIGHTMARE IS OVER.

Opening a file in quicklook and switching focus to a different window no longer puts the quicklook window into the background and the finder window into the foreground.

It worked fine in macOS 12, broke in 13, and is finally back to normal in 14.

Bug: desktop widgets appear monochrome and translucent as they should until you enter mission control. After exiting mission control the widgets remain monochrome but are no longer translucent.

After you upgrade the system updates lots of system databases and caches in the background and that causes a lot of CPU activity for at least a few hours. Wait overnight and then judge it the next day. If you are concerned a process has crashed you can use something like Runaway to check.
Yes it does. There are some things like disk indexing which are process intensive tasks. But I noticed it too. The following morning after the update at 7:00, my Intel MacBook Pro was warm with no open applications. M2 MacBook Air was cool to the touch.

There are three things that I have noticed. I know that one of them is a purported feature.
1. Intel MacBook Pro is slightly warm when nothing is running. This is in the morning many hours after the upgrade cycle.

2. Some games like Civilization 5 display colors strangely. In Big Sur the map was bright with clear water and blue rivers. Now it’s darker. Water is a very dark near green, and rivers are shiny white (almost silver). I turned game mode off and restarted the game. No change.

3. Why can’t the caps lock on screen indicator have a toggle to turn it off. It’s way irritating. I type. I don’t henpeck. I know when I’ve turned the caps locks key on. It has a light. I know it’s position on the keyboard. It’s not needed for me. This is more a complaint than a bug. I’m sure it’s working as prescribed. But it’s a sucky implementation.

yeah, agreed. i KNOW i'm typing capital letters, i am SEEING them on the screen. that reminder is indeed a 'sucky implementation', and i hope apple gives us the option to disable it.

Seems the "continuous shuffle" doesn't work. It doesn't shuffle. Presumably it will be a shorter interval than every 12 hours, the next option up. But whether it's supposed to be every hour, every six hours, every time you log in, I don't know. I left the feature on for several hours and the wallpaper never changed.

I have one small issue and once consideration about Sonoma so far.

The issue is that Sonoma dynamic wallpaper doesn't work as intended, it somehow shows the same "light" version 24h even though it's set to "automatic", Ventura and Monterey wallpapers work fine.

The consideration is that widgets on desktop actually are not useful as I thought they would be. The problem is that desktop usually is behind application windows and especially in fullscreen mode it's much easier to just bring up the notification center to see widgets (I set hot corner for that). So I moved them back from desktop to NC.

Given that the "continuous shuffle" isn't working either, must be some timing issue related to the Sonoma-specific wallpapers that is causing them to not work. I remember having an issue with auto switching on Catalina, I had to turn it on and off many times before it finally started working. Maybe some service isn't running like it should be.

Yup, exactly the same thing for me. Unless you're using Stage Manager and/or just don't have a lot of windows on screen, they are so rarely seen they might as well not exist. And even the "new" feature of clicking the desktop to clear all the windows has been possible via hot corners since Panther in 2003.

I never added widgets to the desktop. If they have a hidden layer that can be called forth and the dismissed like in OS X then fine. Or from the sidebar like it exists now. But there are just some things you just know aren’t really going to work well. Persistent widgets on the desktop was one of those things I didn’t even bother to listen about.

I submitted FB12202204 for this back on June 22. I’ve been unable to cycle thru wallpaper photos.

I'm reporting this fatal error, the screen keeps off when opening the lid. Most likely caused by WindowServer crashes.

Platform: MBA 13 M2, If possile, please do not upgrade to 14.0.

I had this issue on my M1 MBP back in the Big Sur days, but was only on one of the beta releases and only had to wait about a week for it to be fixed. Should NOT be happening still on a regular release! Sorry, I know how frustrating that is!

IMHO it is not working as intended to.

When typing in Mail app, Notes, Safari address bar..., the arrow representing enabled caps lock is not showing. Only when I stop writing, or make a significant pause. When I type with CAPS LOCK ENABLED, the arrows stays there all the time, which is unnecessary, but it is not staying in a way of the text, so I find it more as a cosmetic bug, not annoyance.

To be honest with you, I find this helpful, as there are lot of people who are typing and looking at keyboard and not display. After they stop writing they automatically look up on the displayed text and check for typos. At that time they see on display if the caps is still on, or not. In the moments between typing and checking one can easily forget to turn off caps and continue to type with all cap and then recorrect. This can be frustrating for people who often forget to do so.
This is another layer of letting you know that you continue to type with capital letters. Even this does not happens to me often, I find it helpful and appreciate it.

Agree, option to disable it should be available in settings...For example Settings --> Keyboard --> Text Replacement

Interesting issue, upgraded my MBP M1 Pro to Sonoma and now my network shows not connected to the internet however it shows I'm connected to my Wifi Network. Tried other networks with the same result. tried turning off and on WiFi and well as tried clearing DNS. When I boot in safe more, I can get out on the internet.

I use four-finger-swipe to swipe between desktop spaces. I have one at the end which I rarely use so swipe to that when I want to see my widgets. As it's my 4th desktop, ctrl-4 also works. It's *almost* like having Dashboard back.
