Thank you very much for your detailed answer.I've looked into the config.plist for the MBP11,3 and it does not contain any settings (DeviceProperties or boot-arguments) that indicate that it disables the iGPU. According to Apple, macOS switches between iGPU and dGPU automatically on the MBP11,3. In this case it's something that can be influenced via the EFI/config.
You could try to disable the GPU via the config.plist, then run Photos so it's using the iGPU to do the face scanning and then re-enable th GPU afterwards again.
There are several ways to disable the GPU:
In any case: you should create a backup of your working EFI folder stored on a FAT32 formatted USB flash drive just in case something goes wrong. Because I don't know if Whatevergreen has negative side-effects when used on a real Mac, since it's a kext from the Hackintosh world.
- Blocking the GPU driver from loading (not recommended)
- Using Whatevergreen.kext and adding boot-arg -wegnoegpu to your config.plist disable it. (simple)
Thank you very much for your detailed answer.
I will try to do this.
kind regards.
Upgraded my Late 2012 Imac to Sonoma from Ventura using OPCLP 1.0.1 without any issues. It runs beautifully, but unfortunately I can´t watch DRM protected videos from Netflix, HBO or Disney+.
There is no fix at the moment, right?
... but that doesn't stop us from giving advice.Because a lot of people here don´t know what they are doing
Have you reset NVRAM?Upgraded to sonoma from Monterey on a 2012 MacBook Pro. Version 14.0 worked perfectly, even letting me use my phone as a camera on FaceTime. Updated to 14.1.1 and bar that one issue works perfectly. I find it bizarre that I lost the iPhone function since updating though has anyone else had this?
@K two Have you heard anything about when Sonoma 14.2 will be released? I have a friend with an Intel based 2018 Mac Mini (running 14.1.1, i7, 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD), and he is experiencing some strange Finder issues similar to those common last year with Ventura (double-click not working, etc). I would normally suggest that he updated to the 14.2 b3, but he is extremely busy with work and so it is not easy to find the time required. The next Nightly commit could be weeks if not months, hence. The OCLP developers have full-time positions including commutes and other responsibilities according to a fellow developer. Here, patience will be necessary before v.1.3.0 matures further. FWIW 🧐
Notice the sig, the Mini8,1 on b3. Haven't noticed anything amiss, as yet. • davidlv The RCs are next but have not heard or read anything, my guess is just before or after New Years. Most endeavers slow down around U.S. holidays. 🥴🎅@K two Have you heard anything about when Sonoma 14.2 will be released? No OCLP on Mini8,1. A general question about the release date of macOS 14.2. and a best guess. 🎅2018 Mac mini natively supports Sonoma. Why is he running OCLP?
When did I say he was running OCLP? Of course, that Mac Mini is supported so he is NOT running OCLP. My concern is simply that if the release of 14.2 is on track for a release soon, I know he doesn't have time to do two installs in succession (14.2 b3 & the 14.2 release).2018 Mac mini natively supports Sonoma. I have and made no difference. Shame its broken after the update just wondered how if there was a way to get it working after as it worked first time once I installed 14.0Have you reset NVRAM?
Suspect there will be RCs w/14.2 🧐For 14.1 there were 3 betas, and the release came out 2 weeks after the third beta.

Any news on progress with 1.3.0 and fix login loop? I reckon since the change log has no entries, there isn’t any… yet! 🙏
Reading the latest commit - fixes a misspelled word - "entries<entires" and nothing else. The iGPU boot-loop remains.🤫 This issue may take some time to remedy according to a developer. 😕
SMC reset? Trying the Apple fixes first is advised when there is an issue. 🧐I have and made no difference. Shame its broken after the update just wondered how if there was a way to get it working after as it worked first time once I installed 14.0

Yes, it should work. Some have had problems with Wi-Fi, so if possible connect with ethernet. You will have to run the root patches again after the OS is updated. If I installed Monterey via Open Core legacy patcher previously can I update the OS via the prompt in my OS notifications? Is this safe to do? My iMac is mid-2011 with an upgraded metal GPU.
You can try installing version 1.0.1 again, but before running the post install patches, do the "Revert the Root Patches" in the OCLP app.Hi,
I have an iMac 13,1 (late 2012 with nvidia kepler gpu). It was running great with the latest Ventura and OCLP 1.0.1. No problem whatsoever. With the release of OCLP 1.2.1 I decided to do a clean install after years just upgrading macOS on the previous installed version. First I upgraded OCLP. Reinstalled root patches. After the iMac went idle for some time, there was this weird display corruption affecting the whole screen with black and white areas alternating the toolbar, windows and dialogs. So bad that I couldn't click on anything. That never happened before. But it was a very hot day so I thought it might have had something to do with it as the iMac was on for a long time. I shut it down. Later I started it again, everything back to normal. Then I created a Sonoma 14.1.1 installer disc using OCLP 1.2.1 and proceeded with a clean install. I successfully migrated my data using TM and here I am with freshly installed macOS with all my app.
Problem is: the display corruption happened again. This time it started in the browser window with text disappearing. Then the toolbar and black and white areas as I hover items. Has anybody experienced something like?
Might it be related to OCLP 1.2.1? If I downgrade to 1.0.1 including root patches, will Sonoma stop working?
I appreciate any feedback from the community. Thank you.
Don't even try, seriously, you'll end up with an un-bootable system.Hi,
