I did a fresh install of Sonoma 14.2.1 + the latest OCLP 1.3.0 + post-root installation. Smooth installation.

What I'm running into are weird video glitches. I see them when I'm watching a stream through Discord, and when using Photo Booth thus far. Watching YouTube videos through Chrome seems fine. The glitches seem to be confined to the top of the video for the most part sometimes down the middle. See the picture to know what I mean.

My systems Specs.

  1. iMac 12,2 Mid 2011 27 Inch
  2. 32GB of Ram
  3. Nvidia Quadro K4000m - I think it is a Kepler GPU
  4. i7 2600 - 3.4 quad-core.
  5. Sonoma 14.2.1
Has anyone run into it and has a fix for it?

I've seen youtube videos with flickers on Safari but not Brave browser on both of my A1502s (13" 2015 MBP integrated metal compat GPU) Both running macOS 14.2.1 + OCLP 1.3.0 + post root install. One A1502 is i7/16GB RAM. Other is i5 2.9GHz/8GB RAM.

The particular youtube video is here ( link ) Multiple flickers in 10-20s from start in Safari full screen mode default to 1080p resolution on MBP screen. Perfect in Brave browser in 1080p or 1440p (default) on same MBP screen also in full screen mode.

Strange thing is when displayed on my thunderbolt display with safari 1080p in full screen mode works perfect haha.

I’d try a second display out but I don’t have an extra screen to try it out. I feel this could be an OCLP issue?

Hello, good evening, I have Sonoma 14.2.1 installed with oclp and I have problems with the Bluetooth, it is activated and a few seconds later it is deactivated. Any fix for this, thank you.

Does anyone solve this problem with oclp? impossible to use magic mouse and keyboard

For similar bluetooth problems when I upgraded to Sonoma from Ventura on both a 2011 and 2010 iMac.
This is what I did to get bluetooth back.
Download Ben Baker's Hackintool.app. Use the app to edit NVRam directly. Look for the entries:
bluetoothExternalDongleFailed
bluetoothActiveControllerInfo
bluetoothInternalControllerinfo
Delete all the entries, and wait for the NVRam to refresh itself. At least one of the entries (bluetoothExternalDongleFailed) should come back with value of <00>. If not, repeat deleting the entries.

For me bluetooth worked again when I performed the above steps, bluetooth settings will show all previously paired devices, and auto connect to them just as before the update.

Hi everyone, I’ve got two stupid questions, hopefully you’ll forgive me;
first of all my mac is a standard Late 2013 iMac with a Crucial SSD installed and it’s running fine with Monterey 12.7.2 and OCLP 1.3.0

- I’d like to know if I would be fine upgrading to Sonoma: I really don’t see any true advantages atm except for pets to be recognized in Photos; my cat crossed the rainbow last week and - stupid as it is - I’d love to match him in Photos as I do on my iPhone; I’ve read mixed results upgrading a late 2013 iMac even on the discord (mine has always been running fine up to this day and still running fine) so I thought I’d be better asking the MR community.

- second question is more of an annoyance on my machine: when I update the OS (with Apple’s updates), seems like sometimes a /System/Volumes/Update/[name of my startup disk] folder gets left behind, and this time after 12.7.2 is like 10GB... is it something I should leave as it is or is there a workaround (rerunning a combo updater maybe?) to regain those 10GBs?

thanks in advance

Thanks, mate, it works for me like before. What I don't understand is how with a clean installation it didn't work. By the way, mine is an imac 11.2. Thanks for the solution, take good care of yourself.

I still run Monterey in my main macs. Zero reasons to update.

Have a few macs on OCLP+Sonoma. Made a spreadsheet to summarize. Spreadsheet link include edit rights for anyone to add more entries. Slowly collecting successful install+usage with links back to posts. Link in my signature.

Results so far...

When I "create macOS installer" from OCLP, and "Show older/beta versions", it shows betas but not release candiates. How do I make an installer of a release candidate? Thanks.

I decided to "upgrade my 2015 17.1iMac to Ventura which was on Monterey, using OCLP v1.3.0 it went smoothly, took about an hour but several reboots, and was up and running great with no random graphic artifacts, no kernel panics, so I was ecstatic, until next thing I know it's installing Sonoma on it's own, (article from Ric Ford from https://www.macintouch.com/) which has been an issue on some Macs article: https://www.macintouch.com/post/37422/forced-macos-sonoma-installs-note/#more-37422
I don't know if anyone else here has experienced a similar problem. TBC it's running fine and doesn't overheat or max out the processors, all my apps work, It has an internal Samsung 870 SSD and I have 2 externals for backups. I am using Carbon Copy Cloner for my backups, the problem (and a known issue on some systems) is trying to use Legacy Bootable Copy Assistant fails when it tries to erase the Volume, gets an error, and the volume disappears, using disk utility I can erase and remount but still fails when CCC tries to erase it. I also have a 2019 iMac running Sonoma v. 14.3 (build 23D56) with 2 external Thunderbolt Samsung 990 Pro NVMe.s which I am booting off of and I can create a Bootable Backup, I think it has something to do with OCLP or SIP being disabled but haven't tracked it down as of yet. Aside from that my 2015 has been problem-free, I do have a pristine bootable backup from Monterey if things go awry. That's been my "experience", and Automatic Updates are disabled.

Kudos and many thanks to the LCLP team for creating a patcher to update unsupported Macs!

Try this:
  1. boot in safe mode
  2. revert post install AND directly install post install again
  3. reboot

  1. I would wait for macOS 14.3 + OCLP 1.4 is official launched. 😉 You could also install Sonoma on an external disc and boot from there. So you could try before installing on your main system.
  2. 🤔 imho should be deleted by system after installation. Have a look after your Sonoma installation.

Hi,
has someone of you a hackintosh based on Dell Optiplex 9020 and can share the EFI without licence numbers?

My Specs:
i7-4790 or i7-4790k (I have both), 32 GB RAM, MSI Radeon RX560 Aero

Thank you very much!

OCLP Nightly has an update which fixes KDK handling.
MBP5,2: updated OTA to 14.3 (RC or release, both are build 23D56) from a beta. Using latest OCLP 1.4.0n (from Jan 18th or 19th).
Works well, including the updated KDK handling (which worked well for me already before). It is taking the KDK from the last beta as the one for 14.3 RC isn't there yet.

BTW full installer for 14.3 will come with the release. OTA worked well (but not always with this MBP on earlier occasions, so full installer preferred).

Big "Thank You" to the developers.
