macOS 14 Sonoma on Unsupported Macs Thread

Safari 18 is in the Developer Beta updates for Sonoma. Password App still crashes after updating that.
The Password App works in unpatched Sequoia with OCLP nightly for Sequoia EFI.
Re Passwords crashing, reading Apple dumps is not on my list of superpowers but someone else might want to take a look:

Good news for Apple Maps on non-metal machines running Ventura, Sonoma and Sequoia (once properly patched):
As MR reported, the beta channel of maps can be accessed by relatively modern browsers.
I created a web-app Safari applet (by function "add to the dock" from within Safari) and here is the result on my MacBook 5,1 (C2D, Sonoma 14.5, Nvidia 9400M). Quite useable, already. Keep it up, Apple!

Updating Safari OTA to 18.0 Seed 3 deleted the Passwords App. Maybe it being there on Sonoma at all was just a mistake? Or just a delay in launch? It is a pretty useful app IMHO.. We shall see.

I've been using 1Password since ever and loving it. But, it is great to have a free tool which is integrated to macOS for password management...
I like the macOS passwords prefpane , but I wanted something not confined to one platform to manage passwords, so I use Bitwarden as my secondary password manager. (that's not built in a browser.)
Today Sequoia showed up on my updates when until today it wasn't showing up. I recall OCLP is just not yet ready to handle osX 15 beta, wondering what folks are doing or if that stance had changed. I'm guessing we'll see a post on here when OCLP is made ready, of course I can also watch the OCLP site as well.

Affirm test MacPro doesn't find anything newer then 23G80 - main machine ist updating 👍. Btw. Mr. Macintosh already has the fullversion download links online 👍
Update: All fine on main machine listet below - MBP 14,2 MacMini 6,2 MacMini 7,1 also without issues - the rest will follow tomorow ;-) fyi - happy updating, big hug to OCLP Devs as always (all with 1.6.0n)

I'm glad I reinstalled Monterey, I think this iMac got another EFI update, and I don't think OCLP can do that with a patched OS, or have they been able to now?
No, they aren't. You have to install the latest supported macOS to get the EFI update.
What would happen (has anyone tried) if I used Mist to download the latest Sonoma firmware and then tried to install the firmware on an unsupported MacBook Pro 13,3 running Sonoma 14.6 final? The currently installed firmware is 499.40.2.0.0 and the SMC is 2.38f12.
That's what I thought. That's why I'm leaving Monterey on here until I'm sure the updates are done, so all updates can be obtained before official end of support.
i do my EFI updates always simply with external ssd boot drives with latest supported OS - no problem and for me the easiest way you can boot the internal OCLP drive afterwards as usual.
If the release is the same build as RC, wouldn't the same password app crashing bug appear in release? I'm waiting a bit before I update to 14.6.
Just updated a MacBookPro11,3 (Early 2013 15" Retina) to macOS 14.6 Sonoma - no problems with OCLP 1.5.0 and latest OCLP 1.6.0 nightly (2024-07-25). Will migrate my MacbookPro10,2 (Late 2012 13" Retina) the next days..
