1) Installation of Sonoma Beta 5 on iMac 13,2 (late 2012):
Downloaded OTA via software update, installed without issues. After applying Sonoma-Branch OCLP 0.6.9 (from 8.1.23) all functions are available and there appear to be no deficiencies.
2) Installation of Sonoma Beta 5 on MacBook Pro 5,2 (17" from 2009, C2D @ 3.06 GHz, 1 TB Evo 860 SSD)
OTA installation completed, but on final reboot, progress stalled at mid-progress bar. Successful Reboot into Ventura volume (same internal drive) was preceded with a message indicating "Kernel Panic", as the reason for computer failure to fully boot into Sonoma.
Downloaded Sonoma 14 beta5 full installer from MR. Macintosh's website, then used "Createinstallmedia" command in terminal to create a full installer on a USB thumb drive. Subsequently, installation of Sonoma Beta5 from USB Drive onto internal drive went without problems. Booted onto Sonoma desktop without issues.
Patching:
I attached Ethernet cable to the computer (directly to the port), then launched Sonoma-branch 0.9.0 OCLP from 8.1.31. During patch install, a new KDK kit was downloaded from Apple and integrated into installation.
Once rebooted, the system was very usable (even without graphic acceleration). I, incidentally, checked the WiFi function in System Settings; toggled "switch" to WiFi "on" position, and noted that Wifi listed my network as active (if not connected to internet). I toggled the Wifi Switch off and on, and status changed to green - connected.
I disconnected the Ethernet cable, just to be sure, and found WiFi to be fully functional. Browsed the internet without any issues (except graphic related browser slowdown). I was also able to connect, via WiFi, to other computers on my network.
This was the first time in Sonoma "experience" where WiFI worked post patching on my machine.
There is no visible WiFi icon in the menu bar, but WiFi is appropriately listed in Control Center, and System Information.
Internal Bluetooth is still not functional (I did not try external dongle)
It seems Beta5 Sonoma brought some major (if inadvertent) global improvements(?) to complement Sonoma OCLP.
Great work by developers.
Hope this post may be of help.
