2015 MBP (12,1) Sonoma beta5, OCLP 0.6.9 nightly smooth OTA update no issues, keeping as daily driver now as we are getting closer for public release. Thanks Devs.

Both via Ethernet or WIFI?

I'd check for:

Hardware is listed/present under System Report / Network?
Are network service listed under System Settings / Network?
Same issue with a different user account or when booted from another good known system?
Was a VPN service recently active that perhaps changed DNS settings?
Both
1. I didn't check but must be listed otherwise it would not DHCP connect.
It's not 2, 3 and 4 either, System settings/Network is fine, works as should on a different OS, both VPN and DNS checked, no issue.

on my iMac OSX Sonoma detects the Graphics card as AMD Radeon Polaris but in fact it is ATI Radeon Pro 560, it is necessary to set something else on OCLP for it to work correctly or is the problem somewhere else.

Funny enough, I experience the same issue intermittently as soon I got VPN active and switched networks or tried to reconnect to the same network.

I was using as a daily driver on beta 4 then beta 5 went really wrong on my mid 2014 unusable (lucky I keep backups) but because of the update mess tried OTA 1.21gb and the full download couldn’t recover it even putting beta 4 back over it only formatting the drive and restoring the backup I’ve switched back to Ventura for now.

1) Installation of Sonoma Beta 5 on iMac 13,2 (late 2012):

Downloaded OTA via software update, installed without issues. After applying Sonoma-Branch OCLP 0.6.9 (from 8.1.23) all functions are available and there appear to be no deficiencies.

2) Installation of Sonoma Beta 5 on MacBook Pro 5,2 (17" from 2009, C2D @ 3.06 GHz, 1 TB Evo 860 SSD)

OTA installation completed, but on final reboot, progress stalled at mid-progress bar. Successful Reboot into Ventura volume (same internal drive) was preceded with a message indicating "Kernel Panic", as the reason for computer failure to fully boot into Sonoma.
Downloaded Sonoma 14 beta5 full installer from MR. Macintosh's website, then used "Createinstallmedia" command in terminal to create a full installer on a USB thumb drive. Subsequently, installation of Sonoma Beta5 from USB Drive onto internal drive went without problems. Booted onto Sonoma desktop without issues.
Patching:
I attached Ethernet cable to the computer (directly to the port), then launched Sonoma-branch 0.9.0 OCLP from 8.1.31. During patch install, a new KDK kit was downloaded from Apple and integrated into installation.
Once rebooted, the system was very usable (even without graphic acceleration). I, incidentally, checked the WiFi function in System Settings; toggled "switch" to WiFi "on" position, and noted that Wifi listed my network as active (if not connected to internet). I toggled the Wifi Switch off and on, and status changed to green - connected.
I disconnected the Ethernet cable, just to be sure, and found WiFi to be fully functional. Browsed the internet without any issues (except graphic related browser slowdown). I was also able to connect, via WiFi, to other computers on my network.
This was the first time in Sonoma "experience" where WiFI worked post patching on my machine.
There is no visible WiFi icon in the menu bar, but WiFi is appropriately listed in Control Center, and System Information.
Internal Bluetooth is still not functional (I did not try external dongle)
It seems Beta5 Sonoma brought some major (if inadvertent) global improvements(?) to complement Sonoma OCLP.
Great work by developers.

Hope this post may be of help.

That should be reason enough not to use a macOS in the first beta status as a daily driver. If so, then only as a parallel OS in another volume to the previous one.

Know the risks that’s why I have three macOS installs running and backups of all and haven’t lost any data.

Hello @RogueB
It looks like you have a Broadcom wificard, I thought that was still broken?
Still working for you with Sonoma Beta 5 and OCLP 0.6.9n 8.1.23 ?
if so, can you comment on how you got that working please? I am planning to maybe try Sonoma on a rMbp 10,1 with the Broadcom BCM94360CSAX at some point. Also, if there is anything special with your 8.1.23 nightly that makes it work with broadcom, I'd like to know also. Don't see an archive of all nightlies. Is there one if I should get the 8.1.23?
Many thanks regardless

Since using Monterey and Ventura, I could never open Notification because it would either freeze the Finder UI or the Notification will stay stuck open (on the right side) and remain unresponsive. Because of this being an issue for two macOS versions, I fully expected to never be able to use iOS widget in Sonoma.

It was confirmed behavior was the same with Sonoma Beta 4 where Widgets Preference Pane and Notification window both freezes Finder UI.

However, after a fresh install on beta 5... For the first time ever... I can open Notification smoothly! It doesn't lag at all or stay stuck open! I can easily open/close Notification Pane. I even dragged few iOS widgets from either Widget Preference Pane or Notification over to my desktop and they are working flawlessly! I have MacBook Pro 11,2 (MacBook Pro Retina late 2013). I think Sonoma Beta 5 is the smoothest experience for me (it even beats official version of Monterey/Ventura).

TV app and Music app seems to work great for me (I'm able to play movie/tv/music just fine). The only issue I have with macOS Sonoma is being unable to play Hulu/Disney+ on Safari (these two are what I've tested so far). However, I have no issue playing Hulu/Disney+ on Microsoft Edge. If anyone knows the trick to getting them work on Safari, I'll be greatly appreciated! I only use Microsoft Edge for work and I don't really like Edge for watching movie/tv.

Great to read. @jln9899 .
So are you using iCloud and if so is that all good too? Calendars, HomeKit?

Yep! All iCloud feature is enabled and working fine. I even have iCloud Drive's Desktop & Document feature turned on. Doesn't seem to show any issues so far. Private Relay works fine too (except if I have work VPN turned on) but no other issues.

Great to read ;) May I ask which OCLP nightly you used ? Sonoma Dev 5 Pub 3 23A5312d?
and if you installed from USB or OTA? Many thanks!

I used 0.6.9 for OpenCore. I originally did upgrade from beta 4 to 5 but I messed up the boot loader so I just did fresh install just to be safe. It seems to be more responsive and stable than the upgrade.

Need support please: downloaded latest oclp 0.6.9n. from sonoma branch. Other 9,2 seemed to have no issues with the installation.

macOS: 23A5312d
Building and installing open core: no issue
Kernel debug kit is installed.

Post install root patch:
I always get the same error “unsupported hist os / cannot patch”

Any ideas?

Are you sure you are using the 0.6.9 Sonoma branch? The regular 0.6.9 will give you that message on Sonoma.
Went to the Sonoma branch downloaded the installer tried at least 10 or 20 times still the same message

my older 2012 13" MBP (9,2) had the same issue OTA Sonoma beta5, USB installer update works with no issues.
