OCLP Devs - I continue to be amazed by what you have accomplished with OCLP. The more I use it and the more I examine it, the more impressive it is as an engineering feat and a work of art. Most users will treat OCLP as a black box appliance and even at that level, OCLP is impressive. For those who look inside, it becomes truly marvelous.

Well done.

Working flawlessly on MacPro3,1 with HD7950. Awesome job as always!

Ghost in the Mini? Attempting to D/L the current Beta 4 (23A5301h) from three sources - GIB MacOS-Master, Mr. Macintosh and OCLP069n>Sonoma, all consistantly yield (23A5301g), the earlier version. 🙃
MBP5,2: updated from 14.0b4v1 to v2 (23A5301h) via USB installer. InstallAssistant.pkg downloaded yesterday Aug 5th via gibMacOS.
EFI and post-install patches from OCLP 069n sonoma-branch from Aug 1st. Matching KDK is used.
Runs as fine as b4v1.

Edit: I've manually disabled AMFI which seems to enable WIFI to work properly using the modified root patch?
I didn't think this was needed on a MacBook Pro 2014?
Are there any negative issues/concerns in disabling AMFI?

Fresh install on MacBook Pro 2014 (11,3)

The install went fine, then did post-install patches Isight, GPU & Wifi drivers installed

On reboot, all drivers work (iSight,GPU Intel&Nvidia) except WIFI!
WIFI will not turn on and does not seem to be detected...
I'm sure post-install patches installed a wifi driver but nothing seems to be working...

I'm not sure what I did wrong...

2012 Mac Mini, my whole networking does not work, gets DHCP but even ping does not work?
Probably a firewall issue?!
Both via Ethernet or WIFI?

I'd check for:

Hardware is listed/present under System Report / Network?
Are network service listed under System Settings / Network?
Same issue with a different user account or when booted from another good known system?
Was a VPN service recently active that perhaps changed DNS settings?

So my previous attempt was with the OTA upgrade path using system settings, going from 13.5 to 14b4. That didn’t work (was stuck on boot). Retried installing 14b4 with a full installer built using OCLP, and that went through, and is booting up nicely.

Continuity camera works great, the main reason I wanted to give this a try.

After four days of testing Sonoma b4, my experience is that it’s consistently faster/smoother than Ventura. The widgets are a bit wonky, but continuity features work much better, including the continuity camera which rarely worked in Ventura for me.

@coolio2004 I've only upgraded using "full installers" since patching with OCLP. Are you finding any problems with the use of the delta updates and OCLP? Does OCLP auto-detect the need for post-install patches when you apply delta updates?

I always use delta updates only within build 14.0. For 14,1 or more I use full installer. OCLP auto-detect the need of post patches.

I have just updated from Sonoma Public Beta 1 to Public Beta 2 via OTA.
OCLP autodetected the need for post-install patches
Very smooth after applying patches

Tried beta 5 on the small update 1.21gb it may recover but completely unusable on my mid 2014 when it launches back in after root patching very slow nothing launching may need a while to index will leave it abit to see if it recovers.
Update: didn’t recover even with full installer seen on discord a clean install goes better but haven’t tried that yet.

My upgrade from Beta 4 -> Beta 5 proceeded without issues on my MBP6,2. After the upgrade, OCLP auto-prompted me to install post-install patches for Wi-Fi and NVidia Tesla.

Screenshot 2023-08-08 at 4.10.56 PM.png

The OCLP patches applied without issues and Wi-Fi is working perfectly.
Screenshot 2023-08-08 at 4.16.31 PM.png

NVidia Tesla continues to operate without full graphics acceleration (which is expected at this time).

Notes about my Beta 4 -> Beta 5 upgrade:
  • I performed the update via macOS OTA. The full installer was downloaded by OTA (not a Delta update)
    Screenshot 2023-08-08 at 2.07.22 PM.png
  • I needed to perform the update with the kernel patches I mentioned here. Without these kernel patches, macOS Installer was stuck in a boot-loop

I am posting this using Firefox running in Sonoma 14.0 Beta 5 over Wi-Fi on my MBP6,2.

Great job, Devs!

EDIT: I am finding that Sonoma Beta5 is much more responsive than Beta4 on my MBP6,2 (even though full NVidia Tesla graphics acceleration is not yet available).

Today first time able to update Imac 12,2 to Beta 5 with only 1,21 GB Update file.
First lan cable off, and only application updates allowed. One update to download.
Second try brings no beta 5 update. Then i bring the slider to install also system updates and made a restart.
After some time of waiting B5 was there and voila only 1,21 Gb to load.

But i do not really understand WHY !!

First try after loading not possible to install update after loading success !
On second try seems to install now to disk; stops with error at 20 min to do, so no chance with 1,21 Update !!

Imac 12,2 only full Installer - NOT ALL OK

1. Problems with restless/jumping Mouse Pointer.
Seems to be ??? Gone when BT works again !
2. Unable to switch on Bluetooth, LED on Bluetooth stick not blinking totally OFF
!! After starting into Ventura one time, where Bluetooth is/was activated BLUETOOTH WORKS AGAIN as told in last post, was same after last Beta Update!!

Question to DEVS and Cracks
Why is that ok then ???

No luck with incremental Update - just Full Installer. BT & Wlan just fine as it was with DP4v2@OCLP 0.6.9n

Same procedure with the MP5.1: just Full Installer.

Unfortunately there is still the problem with BT: it is deactivated, can be activated only to be deactivated again seconds later.

It's good that I created a full installer stick right from the start using InstallAssistant.pkg - this saves me further downloads by plugging the install stick into the next Mac. ;)
