Updated MBP5,2 to 14.0b5 (23A5312d), from USB installer, using OCLP sonoma-branch from 1Aug. Working fine as 14.0b4v2 did.
MBP5,2: updated OTA to 14.0 public b4 (developer b6). Using latest (23Aug) OCLP sonoma branch, patcher support pkg now at 1.2.7. Fine as before.

Everything works fine on my iMac 27" Late 2013 (14,2), Nvidia GEForce GT 755M with 14.0 Public beta 4 and OCLP 0.6.9n Sonoma branch 2023-08-22.
However, a major problem is that I cannot boot into Safe Mode which always is my first test to evaluate a new release, being able to rescue oneself in Safe Mode is essential.
Safe mode boot progress bar stops forever by 45 %.
The error log shows:
<Error>: missing executable detected
/usr/bin/IOMFB_FDR_Loader
/usr/libexec/IOMFB_bics_daemon
I have played with the OCLP parameters without success.
Has any one else observed this? Are there any settings that can be changed as a work-around?

A minor problem is an ancient bug related to the OCLP Nvidia Kepler root patches, affecting Speedtest, Acrobat Reader and some other apps. It is discussed in the Ventura thread.

Updated to PB4 with Sonoma branch nightly.
So far seems OK after root patch re-applied.

Wallpaper got switched to random scenery (weird). Selected the sonoma default one again.

Update to 23A5328b using 0.6.9n sonoma done without any issues.
Minor issues: Widgets not displaying any content whatsoever, 2nd internal SSD showed up after applying patches once again.

Thank you!

Sonoma Beta 6 installed just fine on my MBP12,1. After applying the root patches though, I am stuck at this screen. What’s interesting here is it is booted up all the way and working in the background, just nothing on the display other than this.
Update: got it working after applying the latest root patches with 0.6.9n and PSP 1.2.7. I got the machine booted up before updating the patches by reverting the initial root patches in recovery mode as demoed my MrMacintosh.

Has anyone tried changing the default web browser in desktop & dock ? I tried setting it to safari technology preview and kept getting a safari widget extension crash followed by Wi-Fi agent crash then had to delete safari tech and restart to get rid of it.
installed on a MacBook Pro mid 2014 broken screen went without issues using latest OCLP Sonoma nightly.

I've been trying to get Sonoma beta installed on an external USB3 stick so I wouldn't sacrifice my internal SSD, after so many unsuccessful attempts (using latest beta and OCLP 0.6.9-Sonoma version), I created another volume on my internal SSD, applied the OCLP 0.6.9 Sonoma (nightly) to my internal SSD (as Ventura continues to work) and used the OTA beta from Apple to install over latest Ventura 13.6 on my second partition. To my surprise, Sonoma booted up successfully and applying the Post-Install root patch from OCLP, all looks to be great. Hats off to the Devs!!!

I’m using Sonoma on an external USB medium on a MBP5,2. Not an USB stick but a Samsung EVO SSD connected to on-board USB2 via USB-Sata adapter.
The EFI for sonoma-branch OCLP is on this external SSD.
My guess is that the USB stick is not good enough for the purpose of hosting macOS. I was never successful with such use including with older macOS versions.

Using latest OCLP 0.6.9 nightly (Sonoma version) I successfully installed Dev version 6 of Sonoma my macPro 5.1 on new 1Tb SSD.(specs below). Working almost perfectly with original WiFi and Bluetooth, however, i have two problems
(1) if I leave my Mac for over about 30 minutes without using the keyboard or trackpad (both wired to a usb hub) neither work - the cursor freezes . I have to reboot).
(2) after booting into Sonoma it can never find my WiFi network until I manually select it.

Any suggestions for fixing those issues would be appreciated - thanks.

I have a weird glitch on mine that has to do with the system password I can log in to my computer just fine but when I want to see my passwords and add Touch ID it says the password is wrong. Is this because the Touch Bar ID section isn't supported yet?

I have installed sonoma last beta on my iMac 17,1 today.
It works very well, I don’t notice anything weird compared to Ventura.
The install process was not smooth :
- unresponsive screens before patch install
- need to hard reboot twice
But at the ende, once the patch are installed, it’s very good.
Maybe the install problems come from my particular setup ? I have a Fusion Drive 24GB+1TB (the 1tb drive is now a Sata ssd but it’s still in Fusion Drive config)
I had no issues with that setup before, but if it can help …

for those who have broadcom bcm4352HMB problems in sonoma this is the solution download the zip text instructions then download opencore legacy patches 0.6.9 nightly and modify in resources-sys_patch-sy_patch_detect.py there I leave the sy_patch_detect.py.zip already modified alone replace it with the original if you want to modify it with textedit or IDLE editor just change self.modern_wifi from false to true and save then run Build-Binary.command wait for it to finish and run OpenCore-Patcher-GUI.command very important you must install in efi kext O80211FamilyLegacy.kext and IOSkywalkFamily.kext that this first IOSkywalkFamily.kext also in config.plist in kernel there I leave the kexts You must also put in config.plist kernel block identifier-com.apple.iokit.IOSkywalkFamily in comment-Allow IOSkywalk Downgrade minkernel-23.0.0 strategy exclude and enable there I leave the config.plist just copy and paste to your config.plist also kernel kext O80211FamilyLegacy.kext minkernel 23.0.0 as well as IOSkywalkFamily.kext good luck

Successfully installed Sonoma beta 6 full installer (OCLP 0.6.9) on an internal Crucial SSD partition, of my Mac mini late 2012, and external USB SSD.
As Usual OCLP is installed on main Crucial SSD and it boots all my partitions on it and on original Mac mini 2012 Apple HDD.
OCLP (0.6.9) Sonoma branch is installed as it is once downloaded no modifications.
Same to root patches.

I cannot seem to boot the OS with my MSI RX580 on my Mac Pro 5,1. It goes through the install process and then at the last reboot, goes into recovery mode.
Works fine with an HD5770. Does anyone have the same issue on the MSI 580?

Just a luxury question if allowed and tolerated..
Some of the Aerial screensavers are very nice, but run the GPU out of town...
I don't expect a solution to this other than saying they are a nice pitch for new MacBooks ;)
I would assume the only way to run them quietly on an old-ish Mac without taxing the GPU and running the fans at full tilt would be to down-convert some of the best Screen Savers (should really be called GPU Hoggers) to lower display resolution and perhaps other friendlier codec. Might defeat the purpose by not looking good anymore anyway.
They run quietly on the Apple TV ;)
Ah well, if against all odds, there is a way to run them without upsetting the fans please comment.

One issue I noticed after installing and patching Sonoma (23A5328b) from Ventura is under Settings-Wallpapers, other than the default new wallpaper, all of the others show empty with a download arrow and option but none of them update or download -
1693146937416.png

Everything else Cloud based/sync'd (Notes, etc.) work without issue and I have checked my apple.com credentials just fine. Perhaps a corrupted plist file somewhere - if anyone has any ideas, please share.

Solved: I disabled LittleSnitch by "Allowing Connections" and all of a sudden they all showed up. After digging into LS Network Monitor, I noticed a couple of the macOS sites were being blocked (pulsing yellow highlight) which I clicked on the check mark to allow. I guess the next update to LS will allow proper alerting of anything not allowed and unregistered.

I updated my i5 MBP this afternoon using open core 0.6.9n with Sonoma Beta 6. I updated open core on my laptop first to 0.6.9n before updating the OS. Everything went smooth as if my laptop was fully supported. I just selected update from the systems settings->general->software update menu and selected Sonoma Beta 6 and allowed the computer to update. Everything went smoothly and once installed I did my root patches and the new OS seems to work faster than Ventura did.

Now all my 2015 Mac laptops are running Sonoma OS.

Thanks to all on the Sonoma Dev team who contributed to make this installer work so well :apple:
