Does anyone have a problem with sleep? My iMac can't wake up.
iMac 5K late2015(i7 6700K+M395X)with OCLP 1.0.1 Sonoma
I've got the same iMac (but with i5) and had an issue last night where it wouldn't wake from sleep. The only way I could get it to start was holding the power button for around 10 seconds. Other than this it is working extremely well, possibly better than Monterey. One thing I did consider - I'm currently booting from a USB external SSD, and possibly there could be issues with the OS deep-sleeping this? Once Sonoma 14.1 is out I might wipe the whole lot and install onto the internal SDD and see if this helps.

See Post #2024 😉😊
Many thanks, your idea works perfect now. The bluetooth device is now recognized as Apple device.

Great solution!

That has been a very valuable hint.

Thanks again for the quick cross reference to #2024

EDIT: Leaving this post below, but when I tried to set "Ignore App Updates" in the OCLP GUI, OCLP ignored the setting and continued to prompt me to update. Makes me suspect other settings like "Disable Reporting."

================================

There was a post earlier in this thread where someone claimed to have a solution that prevented OCLP pop-ups for OCLP updates. I'm not encouraging users to block important OCLP updates, but if you need to for some reason (maybe some testing of an old OCLP version), I think the "Ignore App Updates" setting in the OCLP GUI does it:

I eventually took the leap and upgraded to Sonoma , which performs so much better than Ventura ever did , its truly sad apple chose not to update this because they want people to upgrade truly capable machines to get more money from us there loyal customers..

the machine is fully usable lacking Touch ID of course, but the Touch Bar fully works, I'd highly recommend to everyone who is holding off upgrading using OCLP just do it , they will add Touch ID back eventually I think

consider me your test cat.

The Photos app seems to crash whenever I press the 'Memories' tab on my MBP11,1. Anyone else who has this issue?

I had similar bluetooth problems when I upgraded to Sonoma from Ventura on both a 2011 and 2010 iMac.
This is what I did to get bluetooth back.
Download Ben Baker's Hackintool.app. Use the app to edit NVRam directly. Look for the entries:
bluetoothExternalDongleFailed
bluetoothActiveControllerInfo
bluetoothInternalControllerinfo
Delete all the entries, and wait for the NVRam to refresh itself. At least one of the entries (bluetoothExternalDongleFailed) should come back with value of <00>. If not, repeat deleting the entries.
For me bluetooth worked again when I performed the above steps, bluetooth settings will show all previously paired devices, and auto connect to them just as before the update.
thank you very much, it worked on my imac 2009

FIXED: I opened Safari preferences and changed all macrumors website permissions from "Ask" to "Deny" - now the web pages are no longer stuck.

=======================================

I'm not a Safari expert, so please forgive what is probably a remedial question. In Safari in Sonoma 14.0 (Release) running on my MBP6,2, my MacRumors web pages don't finish loading (the progress bar sticks at the top of the page). It looks like the web pages are complete, and if I click the "X" in the address bar, the progress bar disappears. It's as though there is a web page script running that is not finishing.

Does anyone know how to identify the running script (if it is one) that is preventing completion of Safari web page loading? Do I need to use the Developer options in Safari or is there something more for the web layperson?

Thank you.

EDIT: This screenshot shows that the page is still loading (even though it looks complete to me)

EDIT2: I do not have this issue when running Firefox in Sonoma 14.0 (Release).

In 1.1.0, there is this very interesting fix (see below); so, I installed the latest OCLP 1.1.0n to try to see if accelerated graphics works again in my Parallels macOS 11-14 VMs: but sadly they still boot up to a black screen, when the Apple paravirtualized graphics driver is active…

  • Resolve Paravirtualized Graphics support for 3802 GPUs on macOS Sonoma

… Also installed a fresh copy of Sonoma to an external SSD and tried to safe boot from there: but it hangs about halfway, exactly as with my upgraded main Sonoma installation. (With the root patches reverted, safe boot works.)

In my MPB11,2 the SafeBoot hangs only if I had already applied root patches. Without root patches (OTA install, then boot to SafeMode), it works.

I have not seen the same issue. However, I would try to repair the Photos library (hold option and command keys when launching the photos library) or try to reproduce the problem with the new library and a few test pictures.

What about Battery life in your installations? The „play with me“ MBP6,2 has a total fresh battery. Coconut tells me, 102%. But Sonoma drains the battery in less than 2hrs. Anybody can say this, too?

My MBP6,2 battery holds almost no charge, so I have to keep it plugged in to use and can't comment on the battery life impacts in Sonoma. I can say that my fan never runs. The Devs have worked some magic with power management in the newer versions of macOS.

EDIT: Ok, my fan just came on. It almost never runs. And it looks like the fan came on because TM just triggered.

Yes, my 2017 27" iMac 5k (iMac18,3) is about 50% waking from overnight sleep (6+ hours).

Running off Fusion Drive. Before installing Sonoma, zapped the PRAM and SMC. Other than this, I have absolutely no problems with any functionality.

Thanks for your response. When I look into gfxCard, the most works comes from „liginwindowd“, so the MBP stays always (More or less) on the discrete graphics-card?!

My iGPU has problems, so I have had to disable. Some of those problems have been mentioned in this thread. I use only dGPU in my MBP6,2.

I used OCLP 1.0.1 to upgrade my MBP 4,1 15-inch from Ventura to Sonoma yesterday. I used a USB mouse attached to an external USB Apple keyboard.

Root patching was something I had to do twice. The first time, keyboard functionality wasn't installed. No BT, but wifi is functional.

The performance isn't great, but it's not terrible either. Considering the laptop is 15 years old, it is more than decent! So, congrats and great appreciation to the OCLP team.
The laptops 15 and 17-inch MBP4,1s, can use up to 6Gb memory. If you were to replace one of its 2Gb DIMM cards with a 4Gb one, it would transform the performance of the laptop dramatically, so much so you will enjoy the laptop's performance under Sonoma. This worked for me on Catalina, for the 17-inch version.

Can you please describe your exact Bluetooth problem on your 2009 Imac and did you use the exact steps in post 2024? Thanks
Hello, I am French I will try to explain this to you:

I was on Ventura and everything worked perfectly, I updated Ventura to Sonoma (No Clean install) and at that moment, the Bluetooth no longer worked. I try a clean install and it didn't change anything.

I did exactly what is explained in post 2024 and everything worked without even restarting

My Bluetooth before:Capture d’écran 2023-10-07 à 17.56.29.png

After :
Capture d’écran 2023-10-07 à 17.58.06.png

handling is very easy, you download hackintool : https://github.com/benbaker76/Hackintool/releases/tag/4.0.3
Once open, go to the NVRAM tab and remove the following entries : bluetoothExternalDongleFailed ; bluetoothInternalControllerinfo.

I have not seen the same issue. However, I would try to repair the Photos library (hold option and command keys when launching the photos library) or try to reproduce the problem with the new library and a few test pictures.
That doesn't seem to have fixed the issue. From the crash log it seems to have something to do with 'com.apple.photos.metalrenderer-compile'.
I would file an issue on the github, but you know how that is

Just did an experiment where I do a fresh install of Ventura from USB , erasing the SSD completely. I can CONFIRM the Touch ID functionality is completely restored. So if you wish to downgrade and are worried like I was about losing T1 functionality completely . You are all good to carry on to downgrade and restore full functionality of the Mac.

Consider me your Test cat ❤️

Maybe I am particularly thick, but I can't find the answer to a (relatively) simple question;

On a Mac Pro 2013, which is right now running Ventura with the help of OCLP (upgraded to 1.0.1), how should I upgrade to Sonoma?

1) OTA via System Settings/Software Upgrade, or
2) Using a USB stick, which has been formatted and had the macOS Sonoma installer laid onto it, using the OpenCore app?

I have looked all over this thread and can't find a straight answer...

it’s using the USB stick which is considered the safer method of the two while you can do both , again USB would be considered safest route.
