I don't see anywhere specific in Settings for Apple Intelligence. It seems built in throughout.
This is a shame, I would much prefer to be able to have a setting for "never ever ever ask me about chatgpt", and optionally to stick to on-device processing only, no 'private cloud compute'

2) Can Intel Macs still fall back to using ChatGPT even without Apple Intelligence? (It's supposed to be off-device processing, so I don't see why not.)
I would guess not, since the iPhone 15 (which is more powerful than an Intel Mac) isn't getting AI. AI is limited to devices with the A17 Pro (aka the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max) or devices with the M1 or above chips.

Apple's made the artificial (ha) decision to limit their AI features to devices with certain hardware—not because it's needed to run things (since they admitted in the keynote that many AI features will do cloud processing), but because they can. I'm sure the AI features will run more smoothly, but we all know the AI features run primarily using the Neural Engine. And just compare the TOPS figure of the A17 Pro to the M1 chip and then look at how the A16 chip (in the iPhone 15) is more powerful than the M1 and M1 Pro chips in terms of NPU power—and the iPhone 15 still isn't getting AI features (at least right now).

Already noticed a small change in the beginning stages of the installer (btw, Apple forgot to replace the Sonoma-esque icon!). It now prompts you for an owner and offers to copy account settings. Name and icon blanked out for obvious reasons.

Only been waiting 15 years for this to come to macOS after it debuted in Windows 7. :p

We finally got there!

Anyone have a screenshot of what the menu looks like when you press the green button?

The Macintosh desktop wallpaper has an interesting new 'color' selection — you can choose from a list of colors or choose the spectrum (random) option. This, for now, seems to only be an option with the Macintosh desktop wallpaper, not the other provided wallpapers. (And, great to see Apple using the Macintosh name — nice throwback!)

Password settings in Safari has a new popup directing you to the new Passwords application, then the tab self-deletes. BTW, the Passwords application can be found in /Applications. The Keychain Access application moved from Applications/Utilities to /System/Library/CoreServices/Applications and presents an option when opened to run legacy Keychain, or to open the Passwords application.

And yes, the fabled "The Macintosh Desktop Experience" text still lives on in Finder/About. 😅

Edited with corrected information about Keychain Access.

That new screensaver looks super cool!

Have bookmarks been improved in Safari in macOS 15? I actually like Safari but no way I can use it until bookmarks become usable.
What do you not like about Safari bookmarks? I've never had issues with bookmarks since I started using Safari (20 years ago).

They finally copied the awesome Windows 7 windows management functionality where you can "snap" windows to each side or however you want - no need to create a separate space when you do! Finally and about damn time too! No need for a utility like Magnet anymore.

That's concerning as in MacOS Sonoma many of the features of Keychain Access still weren't found elsewhere. In Keychain Access you can add a custom TLS certificate authority. I hope the new Passwords app has this.

Calculator app has been reworked. It's smaller, the buttons look different.

The magic calc stuff they demo'd is definitely present in the notes app

Apple Pay in 3rd party browsers (non WebKit engine).

Now we know that Chrome won't adopt it (cos they have their google wallet embedded), but I hope Arc will do. Or just all other browsers :apple: Pay

Actually, my bad. KA is still there, it's just hidden now in /System/Library/CoreServices/Applications. When opening the application, it gives you a choice between opening legacy KA or the new Passwords application. I'll edit now.
