Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I have Sequoia 15.3.1 running on a 2011 MacBook 8.2. It has the faulty dGPU and I have used the nvram command and then software demux using OCLP to keep it running. When it works, it works great and the software demux has made it run cooler. I have a major issue that it won't fully boot most of the time. When I press the power button, the DVD drive whirs like normal and the small white light comes on but it doesn't progress any further, although the fans start up after a while. When it is in this state, I can still do an SMC reset but not NVRAM. If I persist in hard switch-off and switching back on, it will eventually boot but it is taking longer each time. Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution? Any tips for troubleshooting? This is my most "normal" everyday Mac, all my other ones are older and less compatible with the modern world (although great fun!)
A bit of extra information. I usually run this computer muted but I turned it off with the sound level up and noticed that when it doesn't start, it sometimes "bongs" repeatedly.

How to check?

sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

Or

sudo launchctl stop com.apple.metadata.mds && sudo launchctl start com.apple.metadata.mds

Resetting index:

sudo mdutil -E /

It works again when you can find your files using spotlight.

Is there some trick to installing Xcode developer tools on OCLP macs? Tried twice on two different Macs running 15.3.2 and failed both times. Third try was a charm. Go figure!

Hello everyone, I am hoping to get some advice to help me install Sequoia 15.2 and OCLP 2.2.0 on my Mac Pro 5,1 Mid 2012 so everything works smoothly. However, I am still facing an issue when I install the Fenvi FV-T919 Wi-Fi card for faster Wi-Fi, and I need AirDrop to be functional. I am confused by the information I have found. Can anyone guide me to the solution I should follow?

Yes, I have already installed OCLP 2.2.0, but I still cannot use Wi-Fi with the T919.
Take note of my following tips and make sure you take the time to follow all the links and read everything there. In your particular case, take also a look at Jessie Flying's channel (link at the bottom).

OCLP 👉 how to Upgrade / Update your macOS

BEFORE installing, carefully read the following information from the OCLP developers

HOW TO GET STARTED
  1. BACKUP❗️ BACKUP❗️ BACKUP❗️– at least 2 backup options like TimeMachine + Carbon Copy Cloner
  2. ❗️ Read the release notes from OCLP Devs BEFORE installation to check compatibility / issues etc.: https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/releases
  3. UPGRADE [i.e. macOS 14 ➡️ macOS 15]
    1. Installation of OCLP 👉 ALWAYS❗️ "Create macOS Installer"(see OCLP menu)
    2. Install navigates you through the whole process including "Build and Install Opencore" to your start disk and install "Post-Install Root Patch" – ❗️ Don’t migrate your data from a backup (i.e. Time Machine, CCC, SD etc.) during this process
    3. ❗️ If you want to migrate data from a backup
      1. first revert the root patches with OCLP https://youtu.be/RXpenK5SiVc?t=651 [see WARNING: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore...ALL.html#applying-post-install-volume-patches]
      2. then migrate your data https://youtu.be/RXpenK5SiVc?t=706
      3. ❗️ Install the root patches – in "secure boot mode" always best
  4. UPDATE current macOS
    1. Wanna update your current macOS i.e. macOS 15.1 to 15.3.1 then ALWAYS❗️ check first if there's a NEW version of OCLP and install this INCLUDING new "Build and Install Opencore" to you start disk + check/install "Post-Install Root Patch"
    2. Now you could use the system updater to get the latest macOS UPDATE – ❗️ not Upgrade. But better is to wait till OCLP developers push out a new OCLP patcher version that includes the corresponding macOS update.😉
    3. ❗️ Install the root patches – in "secure boot mode" always best
  5. Increased CPU load / no smooth macOS? 👉 disable dynamic wallpaper + screensaver

KDK for macOS 15.4 (24E5228e). 20 minutes ago.

Hopefully this will provide black screen relief.

Edit: Yay Devs: The black screen is gone. What a relief.

I have done this with my 2015 15-inch MBP, my 2015 13-inch MBP and my 2015 11-inch Air with no issues. I currently have MacOS 15.4 Beta 3 installed and running with no issues. Although they are not my main Macs these days, I still use them occasionally and they all perform more than adequately. Yes, it is a shame Apple stopped supporting these solid computers when they can still run their current OS. Glad to see other's doing the same thing with their aging Macs!
Actually, iPhone mirroring doesn’t work with Sequoia on the 2015 MBP, but after carefully reading the OCLP instructions online, it’s not supported on this model. 🤨 Otherwise, it’s all good for me. 😊

I’m not running Sequoia yet on my 2017 MBP, because it still getting updated via Ventura. The day is coming when I’ll have to change it, but for now, no need.

Sequoia 15.3.2 running nicely on 2010 iMac 11.2 with Metal GPU.

To be honest the update to Sequoia took a few attempts so I ended up doing my FIRST clean macOS install in 15 years!
There are a few small issues (mostly solved) with temperature sensors related to the GPU but these have nothing to do with Sequoia.

Thanks OCLP team!

Okay i really don't understand why Facetime refuses to work. It worked under sonoma but now under sequoia even with the new update and an external webcam it refuses to work. Always says everyone is unavailable and answering a facetime call on my mac fails every time. 15" touch bar macbook pro 2016.

dortania, please release a new beta, and the community will know, you are still working in oclp. thx.
Please do not post stuff like that here. OCLP is working well with much of the current MacOS versions that are out there and there have been and will be more or less activity in the dev cycle from time to time.
Devs are also people that have you know .. lives.

It will take some time before an update to the OCLP is released to fix the bugs in the macOS 15.4 series. Among other things, some apps crash or become unresponsive. Likewise, the Patcher Support PKG for 2017 MacBook Pros with the T1 chip needs work and an update. And with how quickly Apple is regularly releasing betas, there's no telling how quickly an update to the OCLP will be available.

15.3 beta 3 to beta 4 was 1.15gb unfortunately not working after patching for me abit of grey screen , can see log in box and log in and see dock but not wallpaper or status bar .

Update: downloading the full update 15gb and patching all works fine now.

is a good starting point.
Thank you.
Simply search this very thread for example for "T919" and you typically will get some info, like this . Good luck.
I tried to follow the advice. Thank you.

Thank you.

I tried to read and understand multiple steps from both articles and videos. However, due to the confusion caused by the similarities yet inconsistencies in the information I received, I ultimately decided to start with a clean install of 15.3.2.

Now, I can use the T919 successfully.

I sincerely appreciate everyone's kindness and advice.

And I would like to thank the OCLP team for helping many people continue using unsupported Macs.
