Hmm, some issues with 2011 MBP 8,2. After update to 15.4, it will neither restart or reboot, just hangs at wallpaper with a static (but still mouse-movable) beachball. OCLP 2.3.1 hasn't done anything to change that. Seems to be running fine other than this.

2011 Mac Mini Server:- same process, no problems at all.

Update from 15.3.2 to 15.4 on my MBP 14,2 Touch Bar with OCLP 2.3.1. Touch ID is working again, except for unlocking the password keychain. I disabled this function in System Settings.

Thanks to the OCLP team for all the hard work they put in! :)

Have you tried a reinstall of the update and re-application of OCLP? I upgrade by downloading the 14 gb full update, so when I had issues, I simply reinstalled the update and applied OCLP 2.3.0. The OCLP then prompted me to update to 2.3.1, and to reapply the boot patch! I couldn't help but remember that not (too) long ago, the automated update of OCLP wasn't in place; (how long is a piece of string?). We've come a long way; many thanks to the developers of OCLP.

rMBP10,1 mid 2012 updated from 15.3.2 + 2.2.0 to Sequoia 15.4 (24E248) + OCLP 2.3.0

OTA request was taking forever to respond so I used OCLP to download the installer to /Applications and double clicked it from there. No issues found for my limited use cases.

That unsupported rMBP is now on standby duty. I'm using a still supported 2018 Mac mini8,1 for daily use. As soon as the Mini loses support and has no OCLP solution available I'm planning to buy a new Mini M4 Pro, I figure by that time there should be some deals available on it.

Will try that.

MBP 11,5 (2015) updated OTA from Sequoia 15.3.2 to 15.4. using OCLP 2.3.1 no issues.

iMac 11,3 (2010) updated using USB from Sequoia 15.3.2 to 15.4. Will only boot in safe mode. Replaced EFI created by both OCLP 2.3.0 and 2.3.1 with EFI from 2.2.0. The iMac is now booting normally. Seems that something is wrong with 2.3.0 and 2.3.1. During the update the main disk was renamed from Macintosh to Macintosh - data - data ?

But but but...how? There seems no way, easy or otherwise, to roll back an update. Or am I missing something?
I downloaded the Install.pkg from Mist.app, and installed it. It failed the first time... because I wasn't paying attention. So, I ran the install again, and when it stopped, I re-started with Shift, and the install finished. Then OCLP (2.3.0) asked me to update itself on my system. I did so, and also did root patching at the same time. I restarted, and I was okay. There was no need to roll back any update.

Hello.

I have been updating with the macOS installer downloaded via OCLP for recent Sequoia updates and installed that in a USB memory not via OTA.

(1) I updated my Mac (MBP 15'retina late 2013, Kepler 11,3, macOS 15.3.2, OCLP 2.2.0) to 15.4(24E248) with OCLP2.3.1. It went smoothly, and OCLP installed Metallib15.4-24E248) through ethernet in parallel. After installing, root patch was removed at the first login, so WiFi and UI transparency were lost.

(2) I installed the post-root-patch again. After rebooting, WiFi and UI transparency worked normally.

(3) Then reboot again, a beautiful login window and a normal desktop were displayed.

This time, the update was very smooth.

Thanks to the OCLP developers and user community contributors!!

macOS 15.4 with OCLP 2.3.1 works like a charm!

My only regression is that the Photos app, which I use very rarely, has green artifacts on certain thumbnails or when opening a photo (transition) >

Nothing to report with Photoshop, Lightroom, M365, Xcode, Safari,...

Also updated my Mac Pro 4,1(->5,1) from 15.3.2 to 15.4.
Works fine with Nvidia Kepler (GT640) after patching with OCLP 2.3.1.
I still boot with 2.1.0 (due to hassle of getting iCloud/Facetime etc. working again with spoofed serial number/board ID). I know what to do about it, but too lazy in this regard... ;-)

Recently replaced the internal WD 3.5" HDD with a SSD and freshly installed Sequoia 15.4 on my iMac13,2 with OCLP 2.3.1. All went well. However, the "Copy Subject" in Photos & Preview apps are always greyed out (unticked "disable mediaanalysisd service" in OCLP Extras settings). Not sure if it's expected? Having said that, the "Copy Subject" was always patchy even when running Ventura before.

Interesting. On my MacMini8,1 (Supported, doesn't need OCLP) with Sequoia 15.4 (Release), the 15.5 Beta is available as a 15.7GB download (not incremental).
Very interesting. On my M1-MBA, the update to 15.5 Beta was also a full 15.5Gb download. (Actually, it started with a curious 5Mb download, before proceeding to the full install)

While understanding that is IS an MBP 8,2, with all the baggage that has, I'm slightly horrified that it is, essentially, bricked. Optical drive cycles, fans spin up, but that's it. No display or chime, no ability, even, to reset PRAM. Dead.
Not a happy bunny. If I can revive it, it's going to get MX Linux, and stay there.

Strange , either way all seems to be working as it should.

Ok, that sounds like EFI or hardware and this is a little OT but if that is what you want, try removing your ssd and boot from a friendly Linux USB Live installer like maybe Ubuntu, to see if you can revive it. If that works you might still be able to try OCLP again, as Linux also works via OCLP and multiboot. For various esoteric older apps, I maintain a Sequoia/Win10/Ubuntu multiboot install on a MBA 3,2 which is a little older and less powerful than your 8,2.
Slow as molasses but does it all if you are patient ;) Good luck.

If the fans spin up, it can’t be dead.

Disconnect power and battery from MLB, reconnect, perform smc and pram reset and restart. Boot from a good known system/SSD using option key after chime.
