As someone looking for a replacement / fix for the Apple thunderbolt 2 > ethernet dongle's intermittent drop-outs occurring after Monterey I hope you get some replies. $25 sounds good to me if it works.
It works this is running under Monterey (supported OS). It has removed the 940 Mbps cap from my gigabit connection. Hopefully it won't break under my Open core installs: https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/d/705383979

Please help me.
I tried to upgrade OCLP on my MacPro5,1 from 2.0.2 to 2.1.0, but an error occurred.
What should I do?
Thank you.

Well for $25 I'll just go ahead and order one and report back on how it goes under Sequoia on an unsupported rMBP10,1
Hope it works out for you too. My main focus was being able to get the full speeds I pay for and eventually try Cox's 2 Gigabit plan. I had to upgrade the router, modem and ethernet to the computer for this to work. However since Open core installed versions can be picky that's why I brought it here. I have an iMac 17,1 and it seems like more things work than don't. I could have just booted into one of my installed patched systems Sonoma, or Sequoia but i figured it was better to ask first than potentially just mess things up without reason. One thing you'll like bout this adapter is it has LEDs for status so you can also see when it's active. By the way, does Apple make any Ethernet dongles above one gig? I have TB 2 on this iMac.

Looks like same error some of us had you need to put opencore settings back to normal if you have made any changes (according to discord a easy way to do this if you don’t know your default settings is just select the wrong machine instead of your model then change it back will reset it ) default settings e.g opencore 5 seconds and show boot picker then build with default settings then you can select what you want to change after .

Hello to all,
I updated yesterday from Sonoma to Sequoia to 15.1 with my iMac 2017 18.3 running an external NVMe WD Black S850X in an Acasis Thunderbolt 3 enclosure and OCLP 2.1.1 Nightly,
the first reboot went normally,
after a second reboot when the loading bar was through, the display was gray for about 15 seconds until then a desktop appeared from Sequoia and this is now the case every time,
I have also installed Ventura on the same NVMe SSD as a backup in a second volume and everything is normal,
under Sonoma the desktop was always there immediately after a restart.
macOS Sequoia is also saved as a start volume.

Can anyone say anything about this? Otherwise, Sequoia runs without any problems.

Known issue on discord currently no fix for grey issue . (except setting a grey background so it doesn’t look as bad)

Hi,
The distpicker give me this :

View attachment 2446310

I select EFI Boot and the comes the same without the EFIs.
I press shift and select second.1 (with 15.0, OCLP 2.1.0)
four.1 is my backup with 14.7.0, OCLP 2.1.0.View attachment 2446312
Can you boot into Monterey? Is the internal disk as well patched with OCLP 2.1.0? What happens if you choose the EFI on the internal drive but boot from the USB device? Same issue?

It's probably worth thinking about to create a new volume on the internal drive and move Sequoia onto that partition. I have seen cases where Sonoma and Sequoia wont boot from external USB connections for whatever reasons. Maybe others can chip in on this question?

Okay, thanks for the answer,

it was a little better when I reset the NVRAM several times, but the problem came back after the second restart, let's hope the OCLP team can solve it eventually,
it is annoying to have a grey display after a restart.

If you're referring to the plain grey desktop before the wallpaper comes back (e.g. icons and menu / dock) are loaded but the background is just grey. That happened with Sonoma as well at first on supported Macs as well. I've seen it a few times when testing Sequoia, however, i've never thought anything of it as the desktop always loads.

@rehkram I just became a guinea pig, and rebooted into both Sonoma and Sequoia installs, and the Ethernet adapter was fine. I will let you know, there were some Reddit posts regarding the USB C variants on Silicon Macs, and Ventura and newer. Since I'm assuming you're also getting the USB A one like I did, it doesn't seem like it's going to be an issue. The macOS drivers UGREEN provides seem to be older ones. There are two included in the zip file. One for Mountain Lion (10.8) and one for Mavericks to Catalina (10.9 - 10.15). Since it worked out of the box with Monterey, and now seemingly Sonoma, and Sequoia, I didn't bother with drivers. Maybe it's a Thunderbolt issue, you mentioned having issues with a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter, and it sounded like it was similar to the same issues of the device randomly disconnecting, or not being recognized. Let me know what you find out when you get yours. I'd be interested to know if you have a seamless experience, or if you run into issues. For now, mine seems pretty seamless.
The driver package also comes with drivers for Linux, and Windows and UEFI, in case you need any of those.

@Frenchmen

I know this phenomenon with the grey background. It actually indicates that the machine is very slow after updates. It takes longer to load the wall paper and also all startup applications. Whenever this happened I did the NVRAM reset via the OCLP boot picker which solved the issues. However, with MacOS 15 this did not work reliably for me anymore. I therefore did the SMC reset and the old school NVRAM reset (ALT+CMD+R+P) for the first time. Since then my 27" iMac runs like charme again...

Everything was running fine on my 2017 27" 5k iMac (Sequoia 15.1 + OCLP 2.02), until I upgraded OCLP to 2.10. The system never booted again after the new root patches were installed. Tried it twice using both a USB installer, as well as using the System upgade approach. Couldn't get into safe mode, so I just erased the entire MacOS disk, and reverted to the Native Ventura, until I figure things out.

The grey wallpaper happens on my Hackintosh as well which has a native GPU with no patching, seems like a Sequoia bug.

That's right, the desktop is loaded,
after a restart before the background image is loaded, the desktop remains grey for 20 seconds,
I had a Sequoia as a test SSD until yesterday, it was also with the grey desktop but long after not so extreme, only a few seconds.

Dear @Neon Ball
If you don't mind and you are passing thru, may I ask you if you guys are seeing the Safari iCloud favorites sync issue that has been reported here by some, including me? Many thanks regardless of if you have the time.

Hi everyone. I have installed MAC OS Sequoia 15.1 with OpenCore Legacy Patcher 2.1 on a 2013 Mac Pro trashcan (Mac Pro 6,1). Everything works fine except Google Chrome which was stuck on a red screen. I solved it by following these instructions:

The problem I have now is that the Spotify app also freezes and stays on red, and slows down the whole computer. As far as I understand, it also uses Chromium.

How could I solve this problem with the red screen on Spotify?

Thanks

Regards
