Hi everyone !

I'm curious about trying macOS 26 Beta 1 on my Main MacBook Pro , should I give it a try ? or wait for the Public Beta ?

I think Steam does something to keep track of the games with the overlay, or the new Game Centre is messing with it. The games that start and disappear are still running according to Steam, and there’s no crash report.

When I started a game, it didn’t open the Game Centre “games.app”. It did seem to know what games (or at least some) I tried to open, as it suggested “continue playing”. I was trying to figure out if it was the game mode that did it, but even when not going fullscreen, the game just disappeared.

When I look at the activity monitor while the game is running, the game’s logo is there, but the process name isn’t. Of the game I tested, Rogue Trader seems to run. However, if you normally exit, Steam doesn’t seem to be aware of this and tells you it’s running.

According to Door Kickers 2 and Victoria 3, the games can’t find or communicate with Steam.

I agree that the steam issue is something to do with the new game overlay. I opened Civilization VII and opened the new Apple overlay and when i tried to exit out of that the game disappeared and Steam thought it was still running. I had to entirely kill steam because it was stuck trying to stop the game. I tried running the game again and didn't invoke the Apple overlay and the same thing happened to the game again about 15 seconds after opening. The same thing happened in other games

Logic Pro v11.2 starts, and opens an existing project with Apple-only plugins, plays, and closes with crashing. This on an i9 Intel 2019 16 inch MBP. This machine was available. The M3Max and M4Max machines are daily drivers and just not "day 1 material.

Instantiated Omnisphere as a 3rd party plugin and it seemed okay in the 3 or 4 minutes I ran it.

Does this mean it's a working app?

Far too soon to say. Logic only really can be deemed working if most of the ecosystem of plugins work. That's more like several days of observations - but hey, it runs (to be expected v11.2 is only a couple of days old).

I only use my 16 pro max daily so putting macOS 26 on my spare m1 mac wish me luck .
Want to experience the new glass effects with out having to install the beta on my iPhone

Never recommend using betas on main device that has critical data on , even the public betas I wouldn’t use on main device.
For me I am installing on my spare m1 Mac

Safari's transparency feature makes your Favorites bar and the URL area the color of the website background.

This is problematic when the background is a deep color, and doesn't work well when the page background is dark or black.

That way, you never get to really experience the new😊 I have ten SSDs in my Mac Pro, four are bootable. One has the latest developer beta, another has the last developer beta that ran OK. The other two contain the previous OS. If I encounter problems, I can easily switch to another SSD.

Dropbox and Google Drive arent starting up or logging in for me as well. Just confirming some more. Not a big deal for me right now anyways.

I don't maintain multiple bootable drives, but I keep one spare bootable Thunderbolt SSD. This afternoon I updated it to MacOS 26 and played around with it for a bit on my Mac Studio. It seemed solid, and I could live without Bartender working, especially on the Studio. But Steam being broken is a deal breaker.

May I know anybody know if Docker Desktop works well in MacOS 26? My one is not working well - Opened but show in menu bar, even using latest version. Thanks.

Anyone know if iMazing works on macOS 26?
iMazing is partially working for me. I can get info from my devices but right-click context menus and various popups and buttons just do not work at all.

Can someone add these two items:

1. AlDente 1.33.1, functionally does not work, on MacBook Pro (M4 Pro, 14-inch, 14-core)
2. Sublime Text build 4200 works

DropBox "unexpectedly quit", restart fails, on Intel Mac including the beta version 226.3.5047 described as working above. Dropbox does not crash on my M1 Max laptop.
