Delete the safari preferences files.

tried that: it didn’t work. I ended up restoring yesterday’s backup!

Also suddenly after the update, macOS says my battery needs service, after only 79 cycles and like 6-7 months...

Installed Catalina on an external USB SSD, then updated to Big Sur Beta 2. All works, but now it doesn't recognize my user password... MacBook Pro 15" 2018... odd!

A new bug for me is with certain buttons in the Finder toolbar:

View attachment 936699
I have quit and relaunched the Finder and tried to delete individual buttons and re-add via Customise Toolbar, but - amongst others - Share, Edit Tags, Quick View, AirDrop and Delete not working for me/greyed out.

I have had this issue in Mail and created a thread about it.[/QUOTE]

Beta 2 is actually working decently for me. From the sound of things, though, think I'll skip beta 3. 🥶

Am i the only one whose keyboard backlight got stuck on the lowest brightness setting after updating to Big sur? I've used both the function keys and the keyboard settings in preferences and nothing has managed to fix it so far

Beta 3 has been great for me so far, better than beta 2 for sure.

I'm concerned about all the reports I'm seeing about failed upgrade attempts leading to essentially non-functional machines that require some real voodoo to get restored.

Beta 3 is for me worse than beta 2.

I’ve seen a couple of users having weird green icons on the TouchBar and the same problem with the keyboard backlight having only off and very dimmed.
I am experiencing these too.

I guess we have to wait for beta 4 and hope they get addressed.

Anyone else not being able to attach files in mail? I click on the attachment (paper clip) and it does nothing.

For me it's not just the attachment button, most of the buttons appear to randomly not work.

I couldn't attach anything and I couldn't delete an email - Only seems to happen in a 'new' window, the main mail window allows all buttons to work.

Using the menu bar for actions or key commands seems to work even when the buttons don't

Time Machine Backup not possible. Maybe I missed it completely, but I couldn't find any post having the same problem. I know that with Big Sur the file system structure and also therefore backup function have been changed: My Mac finds the Time Capsule, it prepares the initial backup but then it stops. Can you help please? Many thanks.

I have more freezes and kernel panics with beta 3 than beta 2. It seems that weather widget has a problem.

My backup works properly. I actually erased my backup disk and formatted it as APFS to take advantage of the new Time Machine

Beta 3 is saying battery "Service recommended" even in 14th charging cycle.
Capacity in System Information is 100%
Capacity in Battery Monitor is 98%

You are a brave man, being able to live another two weeks with that battery icon :p

That's a bug. No worries.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. You are right, the medium has to be formatted as APFS to have a much speedier process. It also means, no more Time Capsule backup, as it can't handle, the new way, how Time Machine handles the files. So I will backup on a normal external HDD. Let's see how I can manage the second backup destination, my Synology NAS? Thanks again.
