Spotlight is bad. Really really bad. 9 times out of 10 it will launch the wrong application, i.e. “musi” launches FontBook ??
Are you a fresh install? or an upgrade? I did a fresh install and haven't noticed any issues with Spotlight. You probably need to get it to rebuild it's database

So, I upgraded from Catalina and my MacBook Pro 16 and it is a secondary device. I didn't notice too many bugs at first until I started using third-party apps. I noticed that in the Security section of Preferences I had like 10 "system extensions" being blocked. I checked them all and clicked Allow, but when the computer rebooted they were blocked again. The only way I solved it was to reinstall one of the applications, reboot, and click allow on all again. That seemed to get everything unstuck. As for the Spotlight launching the wrong apps and thumbnails being incorrect, I haven't had those issues.

Maybe try a redownload of the beta once again. I know I had a simliar issue when I was trying to install it for the 1st time and by redownloading the dmg again, I was able to successfully install the beta....

Im having same issue, but uninstalling didn't help. Few apps like VMWare not working cause I can't unblock its extension. When unblocking it reboots, and after reboot same request...

Re-downloading it now, hopefully this time it'll work.

Can't get it installed. The Big Sur profile is installed, but it says that I am current (10.15.6). grrr.
My iMac Pro did this.
I ran First Aid on each partition then rebooted and it re-downloaded, much quicker than before and installed.

I just always run First Aid or repair permissions before and after every update, major or minor, then reboot. Over the years it has helped a bit.

I appreciate the new macOS Recovery. You can have Terminal and Disk Utility open side by side.
Ok, now we're getting fancy pantsy.

Thanks... I usually do the same... but it didn't fix the issue...

Next 3 hours after update from Catalina clock, new control center, WiFi and other system icons in menu bar disappeared. Now it’s okay. If anyone has the same problem, wait. (Actually, I wanted to complain about this bug, but everything was fixed during writing😄)

When Settings asks me for my user password (like for instance I want to see my passwords in Safari settings, or open the lock on Safety settings to grant some app acces to my files, it keeps telling me my password is not correct. Which is.

The installer bugs out before it even starts "You need an extra 22GB, 27GB Free" I have 180GB free. Oh well. View attachment 926566
I had this same issue - About this Mac said I had 200gb free, but disk utility only showed 21. Found out it was 5 local snapshots from Time Machine that were hogging all the space - I found this helpful https://www.macworld.com/article/3260635/how-to-delete-time-machine-snapshots-on-your-mac.html
I used their terminal commands to delete the local snapshots as they say, and bingo the diskutility and about this mac matched on the amount of free space. Then it will install. Hope this helps.

Hello. I have the same. I restart downloading, and I have 5.58 GR and 22 hours remaining. Speed very very slow.

Some of you talk about "re-downloading"... what are you downloading and from where? I am having trouble updating - I have installed the profile, but it insists that I am current on 10.15.6... I cannot get to Big Sur... is there a download somewhere? Nothing that I see on the Dev portal.

I had the same issue with GlobalProtect VPN client app. It was not able to run, with system prompt telling met that a bunch of system software blocked. I hit "allow" and then restart, but still all blocked. Seems big sur is not saving the configuration here at all.

I also tried using terminal command to force allowing any app to run (the hidden 3rd option that was there in older version of MacOS), but still cannot get the app running properly.

I've a problem with menu bar icons.

with a light theme, they're almost not there - they are white on a white background so pretty much invisible. You can interact with them if you know where to click.

switch to dark mode and all the icons remain white, but now with white on black they're visible.

Anyone seen this?

I remember someone asking for it last year, so even this year we still have the nostalgic Macintosh name right where it was last year.

Same here, tried disabling SIP and tried your method, same stuff.

Did you also see this with GlobalProtect? In older version of macOS, it should prompt me to allow access for Palo Alto Networks (the developer of the GlobalProtect app), but now it actually show a bunch of developers that I don't recognize. Now I am not sure if it's that Big Sur has some new protocol in communicating with App to grant proper network related accesses and the current app is not compatible with that yet, OR it's actually a macOS bug that has nothing to do with the app.

Same issue here. Pretty sure they're still running on a 32-bit kernel extension. Took me a while to get kernel extensions going in general, VMWare came back like normal, no Dropbox though. Oh well, early days still. Don't expect quick action.

Please explain me how did you solve the kext error
