Not sure if this is the right place to post but in connection with Big Sur, I am very disappointed with its speed. I bought a new Mac last year because after talking to Apple about the slow speed of my old Mac, I was told it was too old and a new one would be much faster. It was till I updated it to Big Sur 11.1. Now it's as slow as my old one, slow starting up and slow to open the apps. I have used very little memory space.

Just curious, what type is your Mac? Newer OSX version (including Big Sur) are optimized for SSD.

RC3 working well for me on a Late 2013 rMBP.. apps seem to launch faster? WiFi speed sometimes goes all the way down to 867 Mbps for some reason (usually its 1300 cause I'm near the access point,) not seen on Mojave laptop..

Don't currently have an external monitor to hook up to but haven't seen any screen glitches since RC1..

Safari still sometimes locks up on of all things, long Facebook pages but maybe that's the fault of Tampermonkey and the Facebook Purity script..

Is there a way to update my Mac profile picture to be the same across all my devices with my Animoji ? It worked before but now the only default option on my Mac is to choose one of the ugly default images.

I remember it worked on previous version of macOS.

Also, at startup, the profile image is pixelized

Same problem here with 11.1 -- and also, if I try in parallel to do a "ls -la" in a terminal window on the share I am copying my file to, the command gets blocked, until the transfer resumes, and so on...
Same situation in 11.2, but I did more research. Finally, disabling the setting "AVB/EAV Mode" for my Ethernet interface fixed it (System Preferences -> Network -> your_ethernet_interface -> Advanced -> Hardware").

This also fixed aborted/incomplete sftp file transfers from my Mac to Ubuntu "sh_dispatch_run_fatal: Connection to 192.192.192.192 port 22: message authentication code incorrect". SFTP would transmit the first 30k or so of the file, and the the error appeared.

Just updated to 11.2 yesterday and am only playing around this morning and I can't access the task bar. No matter what program is open I can't click on file, edit, etc. Nor can I click on the apple. Anyone else experiencing this?

I’ve been having this problem off and on now since 11.1. Mission Control stops working, too, either via a gesture or the Dock icon. I reported it in FB8965071 if you want to reference that if/when you file feedback...

My Macbook Pro 16'' again started crashing/rebooting when waking from sleep in 11.2! Does anybody else have this problem? Just back with 11.2

I still have a strange bug on Messages when I send two pictures (one after another). The 2nd picture is being cut off, almost foggy.

Macbook pro 16" here updated from Catalina to Big Sur 11.2. I had no problems using full screen apps, unitl earlier today. It is simply refusing the make apps big screen. Whether I use menu or kayboard shortcut, it tries to go full screen but then kind of bounces back and I get an error bip. Anyone else have this and figure it out ?

Scr*w Messages: I always use ThunderBird, whether on macOS or Linux:

What does Thunderbird (an email client) have to do with Messages (a text/SMS messaging app)? Does Thunderbird also do text messaging?

You do not have permission to open the application >> Contact your computer or network administrator for assistance.

Does anyone have this problem? My FCP plugins from pixel film studios stopped working also some other ones.

Hello Isamillis. Sorry about the delay coming back to you only I didn't get any message to say you had replied. I have a MacOS BigSur version 11.2. Slow down occurred after the first update.

Hello All,

I noticed a possible bug with the Screen On Usage part of the Battery menu in System Preferences. I use my computer quite consistently on a daily basis. I know for a fact I used it on both Thursday and Sunday (which is evidenced by the Energy Usage being notable on those days). But the Screen On Usage says that nothing was there. I've been checking intermittently today, and it seems to work, but I've done nothing different to normal. I'm using macOS 11.2 and have a 2019 MBP.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happens or if it's possibly nefarious?

Someone tell me, I want to have the trackpad and mouse settings different on scrolling direction...meaning natural vs. reverse. It seems to me you can only choose to set them both to the same settings?

BetterTouchTool has a setting to scroll 'normal' mice differently from Trackpad and Magic Mice (I have not tried to use it). But not to have different scrolling for Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse.

Since updating to Big Sur 11.2 my 2013 Mac Pro will not sleep. Seconds after sleeping the machine wakes again and this goes on ad infinitum. There were no problems with 11.0.1 or 11.1 There are no apps preventing sleep in Activity Monitor. I thought that Time Machine might be responsible so I've stopped automatic backups. I did discover that if I disable "Wake for Network Access" in System Prefs the issue is resolved. While I am not on the road nearly as much now due to COVID I need to access this machine when on the road which I can't do with "Wake for Network Access" disabled. I assume this is a 11.2 bug. Any help would be appreciated.

They should have called it Big Slow.

I installed the 11.2.1 update over the past weekend. My computer initially sped up but now its slowing down, slower and slower. Switching between tabs in a browser can take 5 seconds, waking from sleep can take 20 seconds, clicking on the desktop outside an application window can bring up the damn beachball. Just clicking the Apple icon to check the version with About This Mac, just now, that took a couple of seconds just to get the menu to pull down.

I looked at Activity Monitor and nothing is out of the ordinary.

Can I reinstall BS over the existing install without losing my data - like we used to be able to do with MacOS X? If not, I'd like to just downgrade to Catalina or whatever I had on there, again without losing my data.
