Anyone have issues of Smart Playlist orders syncing to iPhone not matching the order on Music app?
Make sure your Smart Playlist does not reference any other playlists. It seems like the Developers want to prevent too much processing of rules (or something) of playlists based another playlists. If necessary use the Comments field to arrive at the result you are aiming at. If they are syncing at all you are doing well.

I made a smart playlist with only the year field (i.e songs from 2021), and it sync fine, but it is sorted by artist on my iPhone and not by album which I updated in Music.

I’m sorry for posting here but seems like it get more coverage here with people. I need to rip/remove news app from Big Sur. Stupid me installed last week to see how it works on my macOS not knowing I cannot remove. Anyway it fills up my HD and I’m tired of everyday removing junk files to bring the size down. I only have 62GB Free on my boot drive left and in 2/3 days it can fill up 7-10GB of news garbage.

anyway I didn’t have the app at all cause I came from Sierra OS, I have iMac late 2015 5k and I been doing beta to beta upgrades for 5 years now and back than there was no news app you know.

I googled for hours but everything is old commands for older OS. Can anyone smart enough tell how to remove the stupid app from recovery console? I have SIP disabled all ready and just need the right command at this point

Please help me, this is such a pain in my butt, only other option is cancels apple one and get subscription with out news but I need the storage and I save a lot of money with apple one.

Thank you

Where is it storing this data? Can you use terminal to make that folder read only?

Maybe this:

Perhaps Little Snitch can block apple news traffic.
I haven’t been able to, it gives me errors.

I can tell you this, it has to be done in recovery with SIP disabled completely. This app cannot be removed in GUI. Using app removal tool only remove the cache and data but app remains.

If someone can maybe post some commands I can try, in recovery mode some advanced stuff I’m all ears.

I have looked into this issue on many other systems for last 6 months and so far there is no clear answer at all. A lot of people have this issue

It’s crazy that apple would do this and now allow the app to be removed. It was so simple in other previous Mac OS versions

Is anyone else experiencing problems with Safari going unresponsive when e.g., pasting into the url field? I've also had this happen several time while simply reading web pages. Similar issues with cut/paste in MS Teams, and Chrome. 11.3 Beta (20E5196f)

Sorry for your troubles, but that convinced me never to install it on my Mac or iPhone for that matter. I can curate my own news.

Yeh it’s gotten to the point where, I will deal with it with next Mac OS 12 or something.

Now I never done a clean install of Mac OS Big Sur, I always did upgrades from previous OS. Does news app come default or you always have to download it?
I’m thinking a nice clean install of next beta OS to rip remove, but idk if it installs with OS these days

On the iPhone I don’t have the issues, it’s only macOS that locks the stock app. So if you want to enjoy it on your iPhone it will be fine

The battery level of my Magic Mouse isn't displayed in the BT menu from the upper bar. Actually it is displayed for one second only if I click on the Mouse icon, which disconnects the mouse... Not super convenient. With macOS 10.x I had no pb, the % battery level was displayed. I can't find anything to tweak in the system preferences. I'm running 11.2.3 on a 2019 MB pro.

Honest question. How often does your mouse battery deplete to where topping it off once a month isn't enough? My BT mouse uses one AA battery that's been in there for over a year without needing to be replaced.

Mine is doing the exact same thing on all BT devices, mouse, trackpad, and keyboard. It never did this before but started an upgrade or two ago. Not that big a deal but really annoying. (2019 16" MBP)

Interesting 🧐 idea. Snitch works great now? Herd it had some issues before
I've been using Little Snitch for years and have never had any issues. On Big Sur there was an issue initially where Apple locked out it's own processes from being monitored, but that was addressed in 11.2 or something? An earlier release. Little Snitch acknowledged this in one of their release update's notes.

My magic mouse is the one with a rechargeable battery requiring a wired connection that prevent you to use the mouse while it is recharging. Knowing the battery level during your work tells you if you have to plan a recharge as soon as you leave your computer... No pb with the older model and its pair of AA batteries in case of dead batteries.

My point was that you don't need to use it when you are sleeping. can't you just plug it in once a month (or once a week) and be guaranteed that its always charged?
