first, have you tried it? it works. you type a full name where it says 'full name'... etc. and how often do you do this? sorry, but i don't see the problem, it's as clear as could be.

yes of course i tried it. it's a confusing experience. (even for me being a Mac developer with a lengthy experience of using Macs).

editable text fields should clearly look like editable text fields, there should be no ambiguity or any guesswork on the user's part. poor UI decision.

how is it confusing? each field is clearly labeled. i just tried it, put in the info required; took a minute, and voilá! new user created.

this dialog does not contain any obvious text fields that are labeled.

all you see here is a static background with some text. there's no indication whatsoever that any part of this area is editable (not to mention the boundaries of the editable area):

so clicking on 'account name' on the right is complicated?🤔 anyway, i get that you feel this way. but it is what it is. you'll adapt, as we do with every new change in the OS.

there's no even an indication or any kind of appropriate visual feedback that user should click there.

also, users don't have to click anywhere just to understand what kind of control is that and how it behaves. it's an extremely poor UX and poor UI decision. the control appearance must be self-explanatory.

in most cases, Apple does correct their such obviously poor UI choices eventually (although it can take some time).

i don't get it. i didn't find it confusing at all; i clicked on the grey text on the right, and entered my info.

either way, you do it once, and you'll now know how to do it in the future. it's that easy. still, i've made my point (a bunch of times lol) so will stop now 👍

I agree with this 100%. It looks as though this pane in User Account Creation is locked and not editable. Currently it looks like something else needs to be selected to enable to ability to type anywhere. If there were blank fields that were labeled, that would definitely not be confusing.

see post #106, directly above yours. so easy to do this, and easy, too, to adapt...

i don't get why people stress about these things;they're just different than they were, not weird, or impossible, or... difficult. 🤔

Oh, I'm not stressed about it at all :) I'm just saying that, because it appears differently than before, there will undoubtedly be some people that would also agree. As it stands, there's two people on this page alone, and we're still very much in the early beta stages. UI starts getting locked down around now, though.

Again, I never said it was "weird or impossible or difficult", just that it looks like a glitch or that something is "incorrect". Whether anyone tries to click on any of it isn't relevant. It just "looks" wrong, and that's what will lead to complaints.

complaints? it takes a half-second to figure out how it works, and thereafter... it will always work that way (well, until apple changes in again 🤣). really, though, people complain about the smallest things... and i guess that's ok 👍

@fisherking can we just move on already?? This thread is for pointing out the little things, not arguing...
You keep going at @gank41 even after you've said you're going to stop. You don't have to agree with someone else's opinion but you've made your point. Next.
It was @zevrix’s thing anyway. I was just agreeing with them. I’m not worried if someone’s angry online. It’s par for the course.

seems to me it's a conversation, and i am only a part of it. but here we have your post (off-topic), followed by @gank41's similar post.

not sure why gank41 can respond to me but i can't respond back. but i fully agree, we should move on 👍

The web apps don't need Safari to be opened when added to the dock. A web app created by Chrome or any other chromium browser opens the browser first before itself opens. Just a small thing I like.

That part is great. What's not great is that Apple's web apps don't support notifications, so your Gmail icon in the Dock isn't going to show an unread email count, and you're not going to get a standard Safari notification when you get a new email (as you would if you had the same page open in Safari itself).

Just noticed that the Add New User window in System Settings > Users & Groups has been redesigned in Sonoma - and not in a good way.

Text entry fields don't look like text entry fields anymore - they look like static background areas that don't accept any editable text.

Populating this window is now a confusing experience. Not good for an area where users should enter important security-related info like passwords (or any other area for that matter):

Same window on Ventura (the proper normal way):

You are right. This is just wrong. Do they even follow their own UI guidelines?
