I'm wondering whether the T2 problems are likely to be solved, specifically for the Macmini8,1 2018
Bro it's not as simple as we think. According to me T2 uses iBoot, which is a traditional bootloader for iPhones and iPads so when booting through oclp.pkg, this results in kernel panic. That's why even T2 doesn't have Sequoia support till now so if Sequoia's problems on dropped T2 models are fixed, then Tahoe will be fixed anytime soon after Sequoia. But again depends on problems. OCLP devs will tell if it's ready or it's not ready. Follow #Tahoe-Info channel in discord channel for all updates! Honestly, Metal-3802 have problems on Tahoe but atleast it boots except Renderbox. All good things take time! And sometimes the things never work, unless a miracle happens and we figure out the problems earlier than our expectations.

For further info, you can contact any of the developers in the channel. Leave the message and wait for their response. If they want, then they will discuss about the problems. Do not bother them by asking same questions. I don't still know properly about Metal-3802 issues on Tahoe, however I will wait for the release. I suggest you to do the same! You can try to install on a seperate volume, if you are a person with dev skills. But still I would say, Do not try this at home 🤣

Literally making me dig out the MacRumors forum account that I haven't used for a while just to correct you.

Macs with the Apple T2 Security Chip use iBoot, yes. However, iBoot runs on the T2 chip itself, and they still use UEFI for booting anything on the Intel side. Currently, there's an issue specifically with MacBookAir8,x and MacPro7,1 on the UEFI side that renders them unable to boot with OpenCore due to SEP communication issues once macOS begins booting.

MacBookPro15,x, MacBookPro16,x, and Macmini8,1 all work with OpenCore itself (note: not OCLP yet) - and this was documented in the "macOS Sequoia and OpenCore Legacy Patcher" issue on the GitHub.

T26b6 now available: Its on the way.

Edit: OTA smoothly, patience is required after the login screen, sleep does not work.

Edit: Location services turn on but I can't find a way to change time zones.

Does this mean that Macmini8,1 will boot Tahoe when OpenCore applies the "Skip Board ID check" Booter Patch?

EDIT: BTW, thank you for your intervention.

EDIT2: Smooth upgrade from Tahoe Beta 5 -> Beta 6 on my MBP6,2. Still waiting patiently for OCLP post-install patches.

with an AMD Radeon RX570?
If your question is about GPU support. RX570 is Ellesmere, and Tahoe Beta 2 + supports Baffin and Ellesmere. I hope it stays that way.

It should work. You'll have to check it yourself.

The image on the screen touch bar changes slightly when loading Tahoe Beta.

When I launch Tahoe on A1707 where T1 and Wi-Fi don't work, I really like it and I really want to have it there. When I launch Tahoe Beta on Mac Mini with M4, I want to go back to Sonoma. Maybe, i got crazy.

That's where it gets tricky. I can't say for sure whether or not it will - while OpenCore works in Mojave to Sequoia on that machine, there have been instances of dropped T2 Macs being unable to boot specifically Tahoe due to ANS2 driver panics. Not sure if MM8,1 is one of them because I don't have one to test with.

(ANS2 is the SSD controller integrated into T2 and Apple silicon Macs for those who don't know.)

So far, there haven't been any major changes toward the release of OCLP 3.0.0 Nightly. That will likely take some time, and everyone is eagerly awaiting it.

However, there have been small improvements by the developers, such as the addition of more unsupported Macs to the OCLP list (Unsupported Host OS). At least, that's how I've perceived it.

Unfortunately, my iMac 18.3, which I'm currently using for Tahoe-tests, hasn't been added to this list yet (the same applies to my Hackintosh@Tahoe, which could also use OCLP 3.0.0n for Modern Wireless Networking).

Does anyone know when this is planned?

"Unsupported Host OS" means literally what it says; Tahoe is not supported currently and root patching is deliberately blocked from proceeding on Tahoe because the patches are not there nor public at all currently.
Additionally, no ETAs are ever given. It will happen when it happens.

By the way which model, you're talking about? if you want to tell, otherwise no problem ;)
mbp6,2- 15" mid 2010 with nvidia 330m: on sonoma and sequoia after rootpatching screen goes black right after apple logo is shown, kextcache -i / doesn't help with agpm.kext may be it's some other problem with gpu switching but last-sealed-snapshot fixes loading with low peformance and non working hardware like wifi

EDIT: I guess you're saying that your MBP6,2 hasn't worked with Sonoma and Sequoia, so you're hoping it's fixed in Tahoe. Since there are no post-install patches for Tahoe (yet), why not work in the appropriate threads with Sonoma and Sequoia (for now) to resolve the problem?

i guess it's not supported anymore as there are new os to support (at least more focus and resources to Tahoe) and more chances to fix mbp6,2 gpu problem in newest os where it's more important for gpu hungary OS with its transparency features

I provided an answer in a thread that was discussing the MBP6,2 dGPU issue. See here.

I have one question. When users will upgrade to Tahoe or stay on Sequoia or Sonoma, will OCLP feature show macOS 27 update next year. Because when macOS 27 will release in October or September 2026, the OCLP bootloader might show the update or will OCLP make a feature to block any update other than Sequoia and Tahoe ?

macOS 27 will not be made available for Intel-based Macs, there will be no Intel build of it available, and it will not be presented as a possible update to any Intel-based system running macOS, whether or not it is running OCLP. So, there is no action that the OCLP devs need to take to block it.

Do you think this will run about as well as Sequioa does on my machine or should I continue sticking with that? The only bottleneck has been the RAM for my usage. The work done on these is phenomenal and continues to breathe life into older Macs.

@Wasp14 I don't have your Mac, but I do have hacks with Radeon Polaris dGPUs and Intel UHD630 iGPUs, all with 32GB RAM. After making some performance tweaks mentioned earlier in this thread, I don't notice any performance difference between Sequoia and Tahoe on these "unsupported" machines. Your Mac has only 8GB RAM, so it's impossible for me to compare, but I'd remain optimistic if I were you.
