Maybe his oncle friend Steve Jobs will give him a big executive job:D
Or maybe he'll invent a complex financial concept that allows all his computer money loans from daddy to be paid to him twice.

By the way, the price drop is all nice, but the option of Quadro FX 560, 1500, and 3500 cards would be nicer for the professionals this machine is designed for.

WTF Mate?

Why is it that all these posts turn to people ranting about Mac Pros for nonsense reasons? . lol. I just don't understand why you would post that, unless you're just angry all the time, which is probably the case. But hey, Mac Pro's are awesome, if you cant' afford one, sorry, i don't know how to fix that. I am going to get one, yes for video editing primarialy, but **GASP** also for games. O noes! I said games and video editing in the same sentance. meep.
*awaits beating from mac community (the angry half at least)*.

Sh*t, I use my Mac Pro for games. Ran Empire at War at full 2560x1600 for a few hours last night....SO cool. Must suck having to wait...

My point is that if you're going to spend $3k to play games, build a PC and buy an XBox 360. Spending $3k to play games then complaining about how you don't have the latest graphics cards because they won't work in your WORKstation or aren't shipping right away is stupid.

:D Do you think they will drop the price for us that allready ordered the x1900xt video card and are waiting to get our macs?

I got an e-mail from Apple yesterday informing me that the price of my computer has gone down.

Of course they didn't say why, but it's the video card.

I sure wish it would hurry up and get here. My new 30" ACD is still sitting in the box next to my desk and my 22" ACD is slowly dying on me!

No, they are not for playing games or any other consumer tasks. They are a professional WORKSTATION, not a desktop. You may not understand the difference, but just about everybody else does. There is a good reason why nobody offers xeon based machines for gaming.

And yes I am angry. I'm angry that everytime Apple comes out with something really great, they also do something really stupid that limits the potential of said great item. Apple could be selling a lot more computers than they are if they'd stop shooting themselves in the foot.

The Macpros are depreciating faster than Apple can get them shipped! They need to figure out a way to get these BTO machines out to the buyer faster. It shouldn't take more than a week (USA) to get a custom Macpro! Why does it take a month for a soon to be discontinued graphics card? How hard can it be?

As in the price-drop for the graphics card, having such a long ship date is going to create a lot of problems for Apple if they don't do something about it soon. What if a buyer orders a computer a month before the next major revision? Say they order a Woodcrest in December for delivery in January. Then Apple announces new chips or redesign at MWSF. Does the user get an automatic "free" upgrade to the faster/better computer?

I was planning to buy a Macpro next week. Now I'm wondering if it would be worth waiting for Rev. B. I'm thinking that by the time I actually get my BTO Macpro, it will be the end of Sept... maybe even into Oct, if Apple stays with it's current shipping schedule. That date is getting really close to Clovertown and might be worth holding off another month or so for that since it's a major upgrade.

Custom manufacturing on parts that were introduced with the Mac Pro... the wireless bits are custom jobs... and so is the UGA version of the x1900. This sort of stuff usually doesn't happen after the machines have been out for a month or two.

Are you kidding? It's not like for every Mac Pro that's ordered, it takes a month for the elves to make it. It's just that if you order a specific component that may not exist in physical reality yet, they're not going to be able to ship it until that part is manufactured. Once that part is available, however, the time will go back down to 3-4 business days. Apple's way of representing it is a bit misleading, I'll admit, since they say that even people who ordered yesterday are going to have to wait a month, which isn't the case; as soon as the cards become available they'll start pushing the systems out.

True. If you order a X1900XT now, you'll get a ship date of September 29th or something. However for the people that ordered on August 7th, they were told "3 to 5 weeks" back then. 5 weeks from August 7th is September 14th. There is no way any of our orders are shipping close to the 29th of september.
