is there a way to just inject the rom? without installing mojave? the reason for me is that I have a 980ti and there's not drivers for nvidia yet (I guess until 24/9).

Just run the installer. It will prompt you to update the rom. Then cancel Mojave installation

This is a little off topic but I feel like this is place the best brains in Mac right now.

I just got my hands ob a GTX660Ti for free.

Can I flash the Mac EFI onto it?

Thanks dosdude1, the thing is that I've installed an official copy of Mojave, and when I run the patcher it says that there's no need to update the Firmware 'cause is up to date.

1) download the full installer for 10.13.6 from the Mac App Store and open it to upgrade to MP51.0089.B00.
2) download the full installer for Mojave DP11/PB10 and open it to upgrade from MP51.0089.B00 to 138.0.0.0.0

Yes - thank's very much :)

This weekend I had to change the logic board of my Mac Pro 2008. Today, I was taking a look on the BootROM from the new logic board and found that the Base_XX file for MP3,1 changed over time like MP4,1/5,1 ones.

Before I only had found Base_11 in 6 different Mac Pro 2008s. The replaced board has a build date of 20080130 and the Base_11:

Now the first Base_12 one, the new logic board has a build date of 20080819:

First, this thread is about Mac Pro BootROM and associated topics, like how to unbrick a Mac Pro. Please don't bring other things to the thread.

About the the GTX 660 Ti:

The only NVIDIA GPU that has public accessible EFI firmware is GTX 680. It's definitely possible to adjust the GTX 680 EFI to the GTX 660 TI, almost the same chip (both cards use GK104), but it's not a flashing job. You will have to extract the Mac EFI from GTX680 and adapt it to the GTX 660 Ti, maybe even replace the SPI-flash to one bigger.

Search if anyone already did that for your card, if you don't have the resources to flash the SPI externally, desolder/replace the SPI-Flash, don't even start.

Thanks tsialex!

Somehow I get the feeling the 138.0.0.0 BootROM revision is all Mac Pros are going to get, if even that much.. I can see Apple pulling a 180 and deciding upgrades to 0089 is enough.

I've been running iMessage on a 138 ROM'd 5,1 (thanks again tsialex) without interruption, for what it's worth.

Maybe sign out and sign back in?

I doubt if it can really affect Hackintosh. Which can set almost any parameter in the loader, including hardware definition, serial number, etc.
Cat and mouse game.

With all this, Mac Pro people will find the problems with the BootROM easily since iMessage not working is a big indicator of problem.
