Being a point-release instead of full beta, are you still able to download a full installer in order to apply the firmware? Or is it being applied by the updater now? Sorry to be dense...I'm usually on top of this, but sometimes get confused!
To get the firmware, you need the full installer or the RecoveryHDMeta.pkg. Don't install the new BootROM, you will loose the NVMe EFI module.

10.14.1DP1 is safe, if you do not upgrade the BootROM.

Edit: RecoveryHDMeta.pkg

A 3rd party boot loader showing boot picker is within reach, but do you think that anyone but Apple will change the MP51 firmware to use UEFI?

Also, meant to mention that I actually got a response today on my Bug Report about lack of boot screen. I submitted:

Using a Mojave-supported/recommended GPU such as the RX 580 causes a lack of startup screen until the OS has nearly finished loading. This results in an inability to choose a startup disk during the boot process, as was possible w/ original Radeon HD 5770 and similar cards. It would appear that upgrading to a Mojave-compatible GPU results in a fairly serious omission in the user experience. Is there any way to enable boot screen on non-EFI graphics cards?

Dan had this to say in response:

This is expected due to the EFI on the card.

Thanks,
--Dan

Was wondering if I should mention something about about the boot picker being "within reach" and urge them to consider implementing (while they're at it w/ the eleventy cMP firmware updates we've had lately!)... What do you think?

139.0.0.0.0 is good on my cMP as well. Can't spot any difference, but seems safe to upgrade.

3rd party boot loader showing boot picker is within reach. I really doubt that Apple will change Mac Pro to GOP.

People with NVMe EFI module injected on the BootROM will need to do it again.

Don't see the full installer for 18B45d on installinstallmacos script yet. Will re-running the AppleSeed beta patch again allow you to download the full installer? As far as NVMe, can one just re-inject the DXE module again after booting from an alternate disk/volume?

It's only on Developer Seed yet.

Correct.

New here been following this thread since page 1. .Very Awesome Progress for 5,1's !! Kudos to everyone involved :)

Using Collins patcher i managed to install Mojave on a 5,1 using only a stock 5770 onto a RAID0 4 drive setup., bypassing the installers Metal requirement and firmware update.

My BootROM is still MP51.0089.B00

Stable yes hasn't crashed but super slow with animation / 3d. Not recommended at all for Mojave. I can feel Hardware Acceleration is lacking when i play around in the dock with Magnification ON..and there is no GPU History in Activity Monitor, just blank.

Yes! Super stable hasn't crashed ever yet.
I swapped back in a 5770 on a test machine after installing Mojave with an RX 580. Worked pretty well, but machine was completely ignorant of energy saving— would not sleep when idle or from manual command.
Thing is i Don't have another GPU...only this stock Apple 5770

Aye happy to here theres a new firmware rev, is it safe to flash to if im not using any NVMe firmware flahes?

139.0.0.0.0 is working fine for me so far, but I haven’t done full preliminary testing on my machine yet. A few people have flashed it and so far no bricks that I know of.

My issue is this. I want to update the BootROM to 138.0.0.0.0 on the MP5,1 but somehow it skipped that part. Also i don't have a Metal GPU, only a stock 5770.

Is there a way to force the firmware update without Metal? Does ROMTool do this in a few easy clicks ?
I think this info would be very helpful for people stuck in this position such as myself.

Do you have BOTH the 5770 and 580 installed in the Mac Pro at the same time? Previously I wasn't able to boot into Mojave with my 5770 (not connected to a monitor) and RX-560 (connected to 2 monitors) both installed. I had to remove the 5770. Having both in the Mac Pro would allow me to get the boot manager screen by swapping cables if I ever really needed it.

And is there any driver in Mojave for the 5770 so it's fan runs silently when not connected to a monitor. It runs faster than normal (not silent) but not fully racing in Win 10 with the RX-560 because that combination forces the 5770 to run with the Basic Windows driver (i.e. Win 10 will NOT load both a RX-560 and 5770 driver at the same time).
