Don't forget USB3/3.1 native boot support. Less we will find the needed mods and do it ourselves.
USB3/3.1 native boot support I don't think Apple will add, it's so much chipsets to support, and even if they add only for FL1100.

I was hoping for at least FL1100 since it's supported in the MP61.

I just checked my Developer Bug Reporter account. My bugs that were reported / related to NVMe support are all marked closed now.

Bug on driver for bootcamp/apfs control panel shows open.

interesting that they closed your Bug Reports,

given these circumstances I just submitted a bug report to Apple about the fact that you cant boot a MP5,1 from an FL1100 based USB 3 card.

ill keep yall updated on how it goes :)

if anyone has an X5687 or X5698 CPU they should submit a Bug report about the fact it does not work in a MP5,1 and see what apple says :D

I didn't have one open for USB3. I'll follow suit and file one also.

yeah I was referring to the fact they closed your NVMe ones just as they put out this BootROM with native NVMe booting :)

(ie I wonder if your bug reports had something to do with the MP5,1 getting native NVMe, where they bug reports specifically about the MP5,1s inability to boot from NVMe devices?)

Yep, they were specifically about not being able to boot NVMe... 4 different bug reports. Every time a firmware was released without NVMe support I filed another one.. ALL CLOSED now...

I have no clue if my bug reports played any role in their decision. I just figured I would literally bug the ship out of them about it.

Seeing that I already have an M.2 NVMe Samsung 970 EVO booting I'm going to wait until Mojave is finalised before going for the 140.0.0.0. native NVMe boot support bootrom but I must say that we most probably have Gilles, Dosdude2, tsialex, crjackson2134 and all the others who kept proving to Apple that it is cMP owners right to have this ability.

Who knows / we may yet get USB 3.0 booting.

My sincere gratitude to all of you.

Is there still a benefit to using an Apple NVMe drive versus a 3rd party NVMe drive in terms of power management, temperature, and stability? I know that has been an issue in other Macs like the MacBook Pro.

Not in a MP51, but it's crucial to get firmware updates with a MP61.

Not that I can tell as far as the MP51 is concerned. The NVMe setup has been working better for me than the Genuine Apple SSUBX ever has. I just sold my SSUBX 3 days ago.

I have the 970 EVO in one of my Mac Pros now on the 140 firmware. I'm looking to buy a less expensive option for my other 2 Mac pros, has anyone tried the ADATA SX8200 NVMe drive in theirs?

Believe it or not, some people don't consider Apple's OS releases finalized until just before the next one is released. For instance, some people are just now willing to upgrade to High Sierra since 10.13.6 is likely the final release of it (short of possible minor security upgrades).

But otherwise, maybe he meant until 10.14.1 is finalized, since that's presumably the release that will contain this firmware update.
