No new firmware from the 140 beta, or no new firmware from the original Mojave 10.14 release?

A security update for High Sierra 10.13.6 was just released as well...
Let's see if NVIDIA has a driver update or if 17G65 is the end of the road (for now).

So will users who update via the inbuilt Software Update mechanism receive the 140.0.0.0.0 boot rom? I won't be near my cMP for a day or two or I would test it myself.

No. Download the full installer or the RecoveryHDMetaDmg.pkg and install manually

10.14.1 and 10.13.6 Security Updates had two EFI firmware corrections:

EFI

Available for: macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

Impact: Systems with microprocessors utilizing speculative execution and speculative execution of memory reads before the addresses of all prior memory writes are known may allow unauthorized disclosure of information to an attacker with local user access via a side-channel analysis

Description: An information disclosure issue was addressed with a microcode update. This ensures that older data read from recently-written-to addresses cannot be read via a speculative side-channel.

CVE-2018-3639: Jann Horn (@tehjh) of Google Project Zero (GPZ), Ken Johnson of the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC)

EFI

Available for: macOS High Sierra 10.13.6, macOS Mojave 10.14

Impact: A local user may be able to modify protected parts of the file system

Description: A configuration issue was addressed with additional restrictions.

CVE-2018-4342: Timothy Perfitt of Twocanoes Software

The first one seems to be resolved with new Intel microcodes.

About the security content of macOS Mojave 10.14.1, Security Update 2018-001 High Sierra, Security Update 2018-005 Sierra
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209193

Download Security Update 2018-002 (High Sierra)
https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1979?locale=en_US

Anyone know what build numbers are associated with these or why two of them are suddenly available?

Since Apple don't publish build numbers for Security Updates, someone will have to check manually/install.

One is showing 2018-001 and the other is labeled as 2018-002.

EDIT: Think this is mislabeled on Apple's main pages as 2018-001. Everywhere else is showing 2018-002, including Software Update.

EDIT #2: This page for 2018-002 - https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1979 is also directing to the wrong download link. It is labeled as Sierra - "SecUpd2018-002Sierra.dmg"

Ok, so I have.

Saphire Pulse RX 580 8GB (Apple recommended card, metal capable)
Filevault turned off (we cMP users don't don have a choice anyways)
Full 10.14.1 installer from MAS

Installer complains about the need of a metal capable GPU and Filevault to be turned off.

What gives? Apple is such a mess these days.

Updated to 10.14.1 without a hitch and with filevault turned on. Also checked the recovery partition and it has been updated too.

Using the full 10.14.1 installer from MAS or Software update in system preferences?

Updated with full 10.14.1 installer from a 10.3.6 drive without a hitch and BootRom was updated from 138.0.0.0.0 to 140.0.0.0. !

Were you ever prompted for the firmware update, or was it automatic (unseen)? I have downloaded the full 10.14.1 installer from App Store and was not prompted. I am running 10.13.6 build 17G65 and 138.0.0.0.0 firmware.

Yes, I was prompted at the very beginning of the update process.

Yes, I was prompted

Thanks. Will try to download again in a bit.
[doublepost=1540933698][/doublepost]Second download prompted the firmware update prompt, however there is NO WAY this is the full installer at 22.8 MB...

Apple is testing a small installer that downloads everything needed as you need it. I never got this to work with my Mac Pro.

Download the full 18B75 installer via installinstallmacos.py.
