Is it me or or is mage and maggie a close encounter of a different kind? It sound like a wam-bam-thank-thank-mam well get them again.

Mage my quesiton is why should we have to purchase a second holder for the gps to get things to work the way they should? Quote "I'm sorry to inform you that a fix to the first version was not viable." Why wasn't it viable

You should try to find a better example of the traffic feature than the one shown....in your example by avoiding heavy traffic it takes you 20 minutes longer to reach your destination.

Feature-a-day! Pedestrian Mode

Today’s page will be explaining:

Pedestrian Mode

To change to Pedestrian Mode, click on Menu and then Tools.


Third from the bottom is General Settings. From there click on Routing Mode.

You can choose between Car or Pedestrian.

Also, when you are on the GO page you can choose the car and switch it to the walking figure.

While walking, markers will be set and extra arrows will guide your turns.

Of course, voice guidance will still be given.



Don’t worry if you don’t switch back to Car! A prompt will come up if you start driving in Pedestrian Mode.

Feature-a-day! Save your car location!

Today’s page will be explaining:

How to save and find the location of your car!

You can save your car's location in one of two ways.

Click on OneTouch and choose Current Location

On the bottom right will be a Save icon.

Choose save!

*You can also get to Current Location by going through Menu then Tools.



Or when you arrive at a destination this screen will pop up:

To find your car simply choose Menu and select Previous Destinations.

Select Car and a Go Page will pop up.

Don't forget to change to Pedestrian Mode if you are walking to your car!

How to change the starting location of your GPS!

To start go to Menu and click on Tools. Second from the bottom you will see Starting Position.

Choose Starting Position and put in the location you desire

A prompt will come up asking if you want to disable navigating from the GPS position. Select OK.

You can now navigate from the starting position you have chosen:

You can use this function to find out what traffic is like in a different city.


Or if a friend calls asking for directions in New York on how to get to the Whitney Museum of Art, you can give the quickest walking or driving directions!





To change your starting position back to your current location simply select “Turn on GPS”

Is there some kind of site or video that will show the upcoming changes with Magellan? TomTom did a very nice video for the 1.5 update showing key features that really excited the current and future owners. If not, I really recommend the team write something up or put together a video. Unless the release is around the corner and would be a waste of time.

Maggie, glad to see you're back, looks like a lot of work has been put into this new version of the application. Have the pervious problems been addressed?

I do have a question; does Magellen have a good iPhone 4 mounting system that supports the iPhone having the bumpers on it, can charge the phone, and possibly have a FM Transmitter? All of the ones that I have found have some of the features or don't support the iPhone4 with bumpers.

I will be uploading instructional videos on Youtube after the app is released. The app is pretty close to being available. Until it comes out, we will only be putting out the one-a-days.

The Magellan Premium Car Kit can charge the phone and supports the iPhone 4 with bumpers, unfortunately no FM transmitter though. For more information visit this website:

What are all of the differences between versions 1 and 2?
How can customers distinguish between the versions?
When and where will the second version be available?
Will there be any sort of customer loyalty discount for those of us who have purchased an original version?

Feature-a-day! Monitor your speed!

Today’s page will be explaining:

How to monitor the speed limit with your Roadmate App!

To start go to Menu and click on Tools. About halfway down you will see Speed Limit Warning.

You can choose what warnings you want on.

From here select threshold and change it to your preferred setting.

When driving, a speed limit sign can be visually seen on the left side.:

An audio warning will sound when you pass your speed limit threshold!


To see your speed limit on the bottom left panel. Simply toggle through the different options!


It can show Time, Direction, and your current speed!

Feature a day! Music Player!

How to use the music player!

By default the music player is turned off. To access the controls start by going to Menu, Tools, then Music Player.

You can choose to turn the Music Player on and change the options

Choose how your music behaves during notifications! Pause or Fade!

On the map touching the Music Player button will open a window.

Control your music and add playlists from your iTunes!

How to use Offers and Coupons!

Coupons and offers is one of the Roadmate’s newest user requested features. When you activate this intuitive feature it allows you to get a great deal regardless of where you are!




Offers and Coupons are given in two places: While searching for POIs and on the map screen while navigating.

To view past offers, select Menu and choose Offers.

You can select an Offer and save it for a later time! On the bottom right there is an icon that says “Save Deal.”

To turn Offers off, simply go to Menu: Tool: Live Traffic and uncheck Enable Traffic.

Turning off Offers and Coupons will disable Live Traffic

Months of waiting, then it finally gets released...then they recommend people wait longer because it hoses your data. oops!

yes i agree google search would be a great addition. It would at least put the app on the level of navigon and tomtom, because they have that feature in their app.

GPS receiver wont turn on

Anyone else have an issue with the new update to use the GPS? It says at the top "Your GPS receiver has been turned off". There is no way I have found to turn it on. My Maps app still can switch it on and is working fine. Anyone know a way to turn it on?

BTW, want a good laugh? Go to Magellan's website, and click on customer service / contact <http://www1.magellangps.com/contact/>, you will see a link in the middle that says,

GPS Receiver problem

Anyone else have an issue with the new update to use the GPS? It says at the top "Your GPS receiver has been turned off". There is no way I have found to turn it on. My Maps app still can switch it on and is working fine. Anyone know a way to turn it on?

Mage: can you please help? I tried deleting the app and reinstalling and when it finished asking me for the prefs, it just got stuck on searching for signal. I knew it wasn't going to find anything because the purple gps indicator was not showing at the top of my iPhone. When I quit the app and came back in, it gives me the "receiver is off" message and there is no red turn on button to select.

Again, Maps is still working fine so I don't think the problem is my iPhone. Please advise!
