RIght. If you read back you'll see maggie said they were working "night and day" to get a fix out. That was mid January. Clearly they were not or things have changed and we are still led to believe a fix is coming. Either way it is irresponsible of Magellan to promise something to consumers and then not deliver (yet continue to pimp their products here).

I used to think Magellan had poor customer service. Then this maggie on line presence seemed like a ray of light. Now I see that at its core Magellan still does not care about its customers, only selling product.

Don't Shoot the Messenger!

I too am disappointed that the call quality and AUX issues have not been resolved yet, but in Maggie's defense, I've always gotten prompt replies to both my posts and e-mails. Let's try to remember that it's Engineering who hasn't delivered and not take out our frustrations out on Maggie. :)

Road trip

Hi Maggie; :D

Just a little update, I drove from Wis, to Peral River New York. I was very happy with the results. The GPS gave me the same route that I would have taken. But there is one thing that has been brought up before---the unit lag behind. When you cross a overpass, it behind you? When is there going to be and update to correct this? (I would rather have the Arrow head red, to make it easier to find.)

Lets not forget that "Maggie" is just an online persona for the company. There is a person behind the account, but ultimately it represents Magellan, not the person (thus the name "Maggie").

That said, "Maggie" is a representative of Magellan and has joined these forums for the purpose of selling product. In doing that 'she' has broken forum rules (many threads now merged or deleted), deceived customers (intentionally or not), and essentially abandoned these forums now that the Facebook and Twitter experiments seem to be over (no real activity there).

Whoever is behing the account is just as responsible as anyone else in the process...management, development, PR, etc for not making good on statements made here and elsewhere.

Bottom line, Magellan still does not take customer service seriously. This on line presence was a breath of fresh air, but they seem to have pulled the plug. Maybe because of the AUX issue and how all the forums (here and elsewhere) were wanting a fix. Easier to run away and hide than fix it or tell consumers "tough luck". Good start, very poor finish from Magellan. They almost fooled me. This just reinforces that buying Magellan products is a risky affair. If you have any trouble the company won't do much to help. Long story behind that, but still appears to be true.

No update from Magellan for the iPhone. No firmware updates to fix the AUX issue.

Magellan has tarnished it's reputation with empty promises and zero support.

Agreed. Magellan still has someone using the account to read PMs and forum posts, yet they chose to ignore users questions about earlier statements made. Even the Facebook account has become simply a place to wish users a nice weekend every 2-3 weeks.

Sometimes managers just don't understand the price of failure on line. Do it well and you are rewarded with loyalty that is hard to otherwise earn. Do it poorly and it only reinforces any negative impressions.

Had they ben honest and up front, I would be the owner of a Magellan car kit and would consider the App. Now I've added an extension to the 10 foot pole I said I would never touch magellan with.

I wonder when will this app get updated, especially that multitasking is now available for iOS4. Haven't heard from them for quite a long time now..

Hi Everyone,

We have tested the Premium Cat Kit with the new iPhone 4 and it is compatible. The change in the iPhone hardware affects the way the iPhone is seated in the Magellan Premium Car Kit and consequently the iPhone needs to sit tighter in the Premium Car Kit (See Picture 1 below). If the audio is not working or stops after a short period of time, the user should press the phone in for a tighter fit (See Picture 2 below). This will also resolve the issue where a message may pop up stating it is not a compatible device.

Since iPhone 4 is thinner than previous iPhones, users will also want to increase the throw of the adjustment block. The Magellan Premium Car Kit ships with a throw of up to 3mm of the adjustment block and the design incorporated the ability to double the throw to 6mm. To do this, the user simply needs to pull out the adjustment block and rotate it 180° (See Pictures 3, 4 and 5 below).

Hi maggie,

Just curious, are there any plans of releasing an updated Magellan Roadmate app that will take advantage of the features of iOS 4? especially for users with iPhone 4?

Thanks.

Hi Rayfire,

The update will be released very soon. Its main feature will be multi-tasking and more. :)

Notice they dodge any questions about the AUX fix users were promised over 6 months ago.

Thats Magellan for you.

That's good to hear, sine the ratings on the iTunes App store are dropping because of lack of updates. Hopefully we can really see it soon.

Hi Everyone,

We are currently in beta testing right now for the Magellan app. Of course the new update will feature multi-tasking and other new cool surprises.

Wonder if it will take as long as this fix for the AUX issue. This was posted in February.

Hi tompacyk,

There is no official date when the update will be release. Our developers are working day and night to quickly get it out to our customers.

Thank you,
Maggie

Traffic?

Maggie,

Will the new version have live traffic?

I believe you are better off letting people know about what will be in the upcoming release rather than saying "other new cool surprises". Handling multi-tasking is nice, but WAY less important that a lot of the features/issues that have been discussed here. Keeping everyone guessing until the release comes out and building up expectations only to have it dashed can not be good for Magellan. I think given the delay since the last release, managing expectations for this release should be vital to you.

Anyone in Vancouver, BC wanting to purchase a practically unused Magellan Premium Car Kit for iPhone - selling CAD100.00.

I used the car kit to test functionality, but never got to switch from my hard-wired Garmin Nuvi. And now that I recently purchased a car with a built-in navigation I definitely won't be needing this any longer.

PM me if interested. Everything that was ever included in the box is all intact.

Still nothing...

Well, another few weeks have gone by, and still silence from Magellan. Have you looked at the current iTunes reviews? Magellan is getting killed, and yet they still remain silent. I fail to understand why Maggie or someone else from the company wouldn't be on this forum and everywhere else as often as possible to try and keep from losing their audience. I would bet that there are a ton of people who are giving up on them and buying another competitor (Navigon, Tom Tom, etc.) and once that happens, you can pretty much count on losing them as a customer forever. They haven't come out with an update for over 5 months, and that was just minor bug fixes. OS4 has been out for over a month, and still nothing. Very disappointing.

Maggie: if you are out there and reading this forum, can you please reply to us and let us know what the deal is? Just saying that the app is in "beta" and will have "surprises" isn't good enough. We need details and dates that are realistic so we can decide what to do.

I was a Navigon app user. Then switched to Magellan thinking they would lead the way in innovation and updates. I honestly just wasted my money with Magellan and the lead-on that an update is coming soon. In the meantime, Navigon just kept listening to their user feedback without any added marketing by penetrating the forums. Actions are more powerful than words. Navigon updates just keep getting better. I shouldn't have gone to Magellan. Lesson learned. Because of this experience, I tell people to steer clear of Magellan products - both software and hardware.
