Hello,

I have been using my MagSafe charger for two days on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. It charges fast, but after 2 days of usage my white MagSafe already shows some discoloration. I think perhaps it is the coil that is showing already. Is this normal?

Wow, I would definitely return to Apple. I’ve been using mine for about a week, and have no discoloration at all. Are you fast charging and if so, do think that it maybe be overheating?

Yes, I have been using the new 20W charger that Apple released, together with the MagSafe charger. So I assume it is fast charging.

Have you tried to see if it wipes off with a soft cloth? If it doesn't come off I would definitely return it to an Apple store and have them take a look. This needs to be documented as a possible issue.

Can this be wiped off? Does you phone have a case on by chance?

Good question from ericwn above.
Do you have a colored case on the phone that might be getting hot and transferring the dye off it?

I've tried wiping it off. It can not be wiped off. Yes, I have been using a case, but it is a blue (Pacific) silicone case for iPhone 11 Pro Max from Apple itself, not a red one. ;)

Definitely take it to a store then and let them take a look.

How interesting. My MagSafe looks new - what I don't like about it is that after my phone hits 100% it decides "Now it's time to super heat!" and gets really hot (along with the phone).

I'm not terribly happy about this product but ... the ability to use the phone while charging... simplicity, etc...

I may try a smaller wattage USB C brick.

Anyway, mine isn't discoloring - I have a black silicon case. With it being so new, maybe Apple will replace it?

How are you using MagSafe with an 11 Pro Max? It’s my understanding that only the 12 series is compatible. Is that not true?

It'll charge anything that accepts wireless - it just won't snap into place nicely or charge super fast on anything previous to the 12 series.

It charges my AirPods nicely as well.

The amount of misinformation on this thing early on was astounding. Some serious attempt at making $ and generating outrage from the uninformed. Kinda sickening.

I didn't buy the MagSafe directly from Apple, but from a big online retailer. I sent them a message and they want it back, as they don't trust the product. I will get my money back. I just need to wait till November 17 till I get a new MagSafe, from Apple directly, this time. Oh well, then I will charge my iPhone 12 Pro Max (if it will be here on November 13) with the good old power cord for a while. I'm really not looking forward to burning my house down. ;)

Does it charge your 11 pro max well? Multiple reviews online said that the magsafe charger charges everything painfully slow except the 12 lineups, charging the other phones at around 1W.

I wonder if it ha something to do with it being an iPhone 11. I’m using MagSafe charger regularly with my iPhone 12 with the blue silicone case on, and haven’t seen anything like this on mine.

If that "big online retailer" was Amazon, there's a chance it could be a fake? Seems awfully fast for fakes, but who knows. Good luck! Did the packaging look like Apple's?
It's not Amazon. It is a known Dutch retailer called Bol.com. It was sold by Bol.com itself. And yes, the packaging was fully Apple's. I just think it might have been a faulty unit or such..

There have been a number of faulty MagSafes, it's a little disconcerting. Some are having it not actually charge, etc. Haven't seen a discoloration defect yet though. I'm going to buy a MagSafe next week when I order my Pro Max, but it seems like between Apple's cases (clear case cracking) and faulty MagSafes, their accessories are a bit off this year.

Glad I took mine back for a refund, seems like apple rushed the whole MagSafe charger idea, not acceptable for a $65 charger.

Eh... What's with the Clear Case cracking? I was planning on buying a Clear Case this year. Do you have a link for me? :)
