So recent places that now support contactless are Olive Garden, Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, Kum & Go(EMV contactless), and Five Below now allows MC EMV contactless to work. It's becoming quite widespread and I've heard of Costco enabling it at the pump and it does work inside at some Costco too.

Added Papa John's to the list based on reports from another site. In-person only, though; Apple Pay doesn't seem to be supported for online orders.

I previously tested Biggby Coffee and my ApplePay transactions would always get declined. I decided to give a go one more time a couple weeks ago and to my surprise, it went through successfully. I can confirm that it works with at least *some* locations.

I added Buffalo Wild Wings as they now supports contactless with all three mobile pay logos on the screen. Oh and Kum & Go now has signs saying that they accept Apple & Google Pays. I do wonder who will be next supporting mobile pay.

From a Costco location in San Diego: https://i.redd.it/78yom6uf36e11.jpg

Might be worth checking our your local one to see if it's enabled now. (Previously, it was only enabled at the locations near their HQ.)

EDIT: proof that I actually used NFC (Google Pay, but shouldn't matter):

This seems sporadic. It hasn’t made it to locations near me yet.

Long thread an it’s probably been mentioned but 7-11 near me started accepting ApplePay about 2-3 weeks ago. Been working very well, SOOOO much faster than a CC chip.

The 7-11 by my work started to accept Apple Pay. I’m in San Diego and seen a few 7-11 already start accepting but results may vary.

They're still missing it on their more rural locations, but the convenience store company Stripes has had tap to pay in many locations for several years now. Not on the pumps yet anywhere though.

AMC Theaters possibly in the near future MIGHT get Apple Pay. There have been 2 local AMC theaters that have something similar to In-N-Outs card reader (small square screen, only pin pad and no extra plastic) but are currently not turned on. I’m hoping it comes sooner.

Ingenico Ipp350? Those have Contactless if the add on is installed in the underside (you won’t be able to tell the difference looking at them other than looking for the PayPass logo on the screen)

Can I just throw in a little gripe that I hate how some software/terminals don't require the person operating the system to press the button on the register to activate the terminal (aka the "credit" button) and still allows a card chip/swipe? I've run into a few instances where the terminal is ready for chip/swipe, but not contactless and so the assumption is that they don't support NFC payments.

We have First Data terminals at work and they'll only fire up contactless once the total is entered - since some people wanted to use Apple Pay (and Google Pay, etc.), we trained our staff to follow those steps instead and it's worked nicely.

I was at a Panda Express the other day and they recently put in some mx915s and it looks like the generic software. I tried to use Apple Pay, but the person ringing me up insisted I insert/swipe the card before they hit whatever they needed to on their POS to accept a card read. After that, I briefly saw the screen with all three interfaces (looks like ones on a McDonald's), so I suspect it is working, but haven't had a chance to test it.

It definitely works at Panda Express. The downside is that they are apparently only rolling out the terminals at locations with high fraud risk (or at least it looks like that to me anyway; it's been over a year since I noticed one location in my area having them and have yet to see any others).

The two Panda Express locations closest to me don’t have terminals that take contactless or chip cards. They’re both still swiping cards behind counter. One of them really surprises me, because it opened less than a year ago.

Does the city of San Diego count as a "major" retailer? Here are some photos from a parking meter downtown:

Like 4th quarter soon. I’ve seen physical evidence it might come soon, but even I won’t believe it until I see it.

4Q doesn't sound right to me. Many retailers hold off on upgrades during the holiday season to avoid lost sales due to potential software problems.

There was an employee newsletter that talked about what Target was doing to prepare for 4th quarter. In the newsletter, there was an image that showed accepted payments that included Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay. I’d post an image, but that would violate confidentiality agreements. I’m already overstepping my boundaries just by talking about it lol. I’ll send it to you privately though if you agree not to post it publicly :)
