IHOP is on the list, but the last 2 times I have been to one in Florida, and Texas, they didn't take Apple Pay. The one in Florida even had a sign on the door that said no apple pay
I'm impressed it was one the door. We went to some caveman establishment once that didn't take CC, but no notice until you got through the queue to the register and there was some little sign/ And they didn't have an ATM, which are a ripoff anyhow. And then even worse they let made our food and let it sit to get cold while someone went to an ATM. That blacklisted Yocco's for us for life.

Wow, and it’s extremely rare nowadays to find a cash-only merchant in the USA.

There are small businesses in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland where cash is only accepted. This includes the big cities in these countries.

Cash only merchants are common in developed countries that includes the big cities of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

One of my favorite fish and chips places here in town (Phoenix metro) is cash only... they have about 8 locations, and they don't take cards, but they do have an ATM in the lobby.

I visited Germany, Austria, and Switzerland this year. Yes, there are some small businesses in the big cities of these countries where they only accept cash and card payment is not accepted. It is a cultural thing there but card payments are increasing. This means that these small businesses will be required to accept card payments in the future.

In the European countries of Scandinavia, cash is not used and card payment is the only payment method used by all businesses.

I am from Canada. Almost all businesses in Canada and USA accept cash and card payments. Card payments are the majority part that are used as the most common form of payment in Canada and USA.

Can someone give sources in which Lowe's and HEB will enable contactless in late 2023?

I wonder if these are lies that come from Lowe's and HEB. I know that that these stores want to be very resistant to contactless payments and stay with current payment methods forever.

I can say that Home Depot stores in the USA want to be very resistant in contactless payments even for next 20 years.

I mean, wasn't a lot of this info from people who supposedly worked there? I'm not sure I'd put much faith in it until it actually happens.

They were posts from employees who said they heard it at company meetings, and multiple people said the same thing, so I doubt it was made up.

Also, you may have seen recent posts on twitter a few weeks ago, but it is now being reported via press release.

But those posts and tweets, if I remember correctly, were only about HEB. Nothing was ever said about contactless at Lowe’s stores, only that Lowe’s did start accepting Apple Pay online and in their app.

I tried to pay using Google Pay yesterday at an Exxon station, because they don't take Apple Pay and when I took a photo of the QR code, it took me to Exxon.com where it directed me to download the rewards app. I used to be able to pay from the web with Google Pay, now I have to download an app?

What's funny is that there is a graphic on their webpage that says you can get 3% cash back if you use apple card with apple pay. Are they actually using NFC now? I then found a news article from a few years ago that says they will be using app clip stickers for Apple Pay, but in my area, I have only seen the google stickers on the pumps. And even those don't work like they did before.

I believe exxon does have nfc at some stations. I ran into one that did have it on the pumps in Laredo, TX as far back as 2017. However, even if they don’t have nfc I understand the exxon app takes apple pay and apple card users can get the 3% cashback that way. That’s why they have the banner on the webpage, I guess.

H-E-B stores in Mexico just started accepting contactless/apple pay this week. Does anyone here know if H-E-B stores in the US enabled it too?

No. The HEB stores of Texas not do contactless payments.

The HEB supermarkets of Texas use credit card machines from Equinox. These credit card machines have contactless payments but they are turned off.
